Great review eds1
The only thing I would add to that is the constant lack of respect for the FIA when driving and penalties given out over the radio. For example max was given a warning and he replied “say hi for me” and fined 50thousend for touching Lewis car then it was made to sound like it was chicken feed by max the Christian. They are not the only ones to do it either!

{Ed001's Note - good point, that was a particularly snarky response by Max it must be said. The kind of thing that used to get you a slap off your mother in my day!}

Great analysis Tris! I've always been a Lewis fan, right from his first appearance on Top Gear (singing whilst setting a fastest F1 driver wet lap and only 0.1s behind the fastest F1 lap despite the fact it was raining! ) .

He's had his detractors and criticism over the years, some of it maybe justified, but I still support him as much as I ever did.

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want him to pip Max this year. I just don't like Max, whether its the arrogance or the entitlement or what (and that's even in comparison to Lewis, who isn't a shy retiring type himself! ) .

I didn't think about why the FIA seem to be biased in favour of Max, but it is starting to make sense now! Hopefully Lewis can put the whining little brat and his whining little team in their place in 3 weeks time!

Firstly, thanks to Ed001 for the GP review. Brill mate and together with your match reviews they are the best read of the week. Thanks.
I'm with you Zed, I am a massive LH supporter and would LOVE it if he can pip MV to the Championship. I think Red Bull have been a real bunch of whingers this year and I've never much liked Christian Horner anyway (nor his wife - my least fave spice girl lol) . It's a great time for sport at the moment - with the GP finale and our beloved team looking great again. Not overly fussed about tonight but really need the 3 points on Saturday against the Saints (who have been a bit of a bogey team for us) . Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Stan! I am not Hamilton's biggest fan, I don't mind him or anything, just always prefer to root for an underdog really, hence I like Norris. But this season has moved me fully behind Hamilton due to the FIA's constant cheating to try and stop him. They are determined to give Verstappen the win and I really can't stick Verstappen or his dad.}

Hi Ed great review I'am with you with Norris. Just seems like Mclaren have dropped of a bit, shame really as he was looking better than last season. As someone mentioned the other day Norris got the penalty for a similar way of driving as Verstappen in Brazil. Fully with you on the Hamilton and FIA/ STEWARD'S.

{Ed001's Note - exactly, Norris and everyone else has been penalised, only Verstappen seems to be allowed to drive other drivers off the road without punishment.}

Jos is an abusive git who still hasn't got over that he was crap in a car that Schumacher won a Driver's Championship in despite being banned or suspended for a quarter of the season. Trying to live an alternative version of his own career through his son is what he's at imo.

As for Max, I did want to see him win for a fair portion of the season, because I think he's had a better season than Hamilton overall (he'd probably be 20+ clear if Bottas hadn't yeeted him at Hungary), but he's not making it bloody well easy to support him.

And someone needs to give Christian Horner a slap.

{Ed001's Note - Max is a brilliant driver, unlike his dad, but he is like his dad in personality. Horrible, horrible people. I would be glad if he never won a thing. I do agree on that about Jos trying to live his career through his son.}

Ed, I think your dislike for Max Verstappen is obvious, which explains your annoyance at his €50,000 fine for touching Hamilton’s car despite it being a fair punishment. While he should have been given a penalty for a clear infringement in Brazil, and while the rules should obviously be abided by all drivers, you have to consider Verstappen is still a young driver, in a slower car, up against an elite champion driving for the most dominant team in history - the odds are already well-stacked against him.
I have no idea what Verstappen’s personality is like, but he is without a doubt one of the fastest drivers ever to race in F1 (yes, he’d smash Hamilton in a Mercedes as well), and is the only one capable of making the title race a fight rather than the absolute joke it has been initially since 2011, but particularly since 2014. For that reason alone he deserves the win this year.

{Ed001's Note - how was it a fair penalty the fine? Nonsense, anyone touching another car like that should have got more than a slap on the wrist. In fact anyone else would do but him. And his car has not always been slower, it started the season faster.}

Red bull had the faster car for the majority of this year’s championship only Hamilton’s skill kept him as close as he is during that red bull dominance. While verstappen is a great driver to say he's one of the fastest ever is a bit out there. Put Hamilton in that red bull from race one and this championship would have been wrapped up long ago and that shows the difference between a skilled driver over a slightly above average one. Personally I think there’s at least 4 others on the grid who would have wrapped up the championship already if they were in verstappens car it was that much faster than the merc. But due to verstappens ego and petulance he just might have ruined red bulls last chance to win a championship for quite awhile.

Well much of the opinion before the judgement centered around examples of when the likes of Vettel etc had touched opponent’s cars in the past and not been punished, so there are instances where this has happened. Verstappen is one of the few to actually be punished for it in recent years.
I’m not sure the Red Bull was quicker at the start of the season, either. Mercedes got 3 poles from 4 while Red Bull only got 1 from the first 6 (Monaco had unusual circumstances and Max would have certainly got pole without them) . The Red Bull was probably more efficient in race trim. Since Britain, however, barring one or two tracks especially suited to Red Bull strengths (Mexico, Spa even though Mercedes are typically very fast there as well), Mercedes have been the faster team without a doubt. The difference is in Max’s brilliance imo.

That’s a load of rubbish LoweLFC. Lewis has dragged that car to better positions this season! Max is a very very good driver but he’s also acts like a spoiled kid. And you could argue that he is still a kid but he’s been in F1 for 7 years. If max wins then fair play to him he will deserve it but same applies to Lewis even with the FIA trying there best to stop him.

Shanyg - That is biggest load of nonsense I have ever read. Verstappen has not finished lower than 2nd place in any race in which he has finished this season. Given that he has finished all but 3 races, and won 9 races in total, he literally could not have done any more than he has to win the title. Verstappen is also not just “an above average driver” - he is an astonishingly fast and skilled racer who has made every teammate he has ever had look like a kart driver. He would do the same to Norris, Leclerc and Russell as he has done to all the others. Daniel Ricciardo is great but by the end of their time as teammates he had been utterly deflated by Max’s speed, the latter still being only 20 years old at the time.
Verstappen in the Mercedes would have won the title by Mexico, let alone leaving it until the final race.
