You see the midfielders we get linked with Bellingham Nunes Mount etc there doesn’t seem to be any defensive midfielders names popping up. Fabinho was poor the end of last season and carried it into the first half of this i think the idea of him getting back to his best can be forgotten. Henderson the less said the better. Bajcetic i like but isn’t good for us or him to over rely on him We need a Casemiro/ Rodri/ Partey more than anything else i think.

I can see what your saying but we do have Fabinho and Bajcetic there. Fabinho is 29,its not that his levs have gone. I'd always rather any signing we make strenghten the 1st eleven and even though fabinho's been off form a bellingham in the 11 would benefit us more. You name 3 very good players there but would you have swapped Fab for any of them in the summer. Couple of midfield signings and we can still put out one serious first 11 next season. Then we, like Arsenal this year (7 of their 11 v Utd have been ever present in the league) we need better luck with injuries.

I really don't think we're in for Matheus Nunes, I may be wrong but I reckon a lot of journos are putting two and two together with that one. We didn't sign him because we weren't 100% sure he was able to cut in the Premier League - he's done absolutely nothing to prove us wrong so I don't see why we would be in for him now.

Thom if the usual suspect journalists are believed it would seem our targets for the summer Mount, Nunes, Caicedo and Bellingham. I would imagine we can only afford 2 of them at most though seeing as Bellingham will be the main target at €150m.

As for a defensive midfielder, Fabinho isn’t finished as some would say. And bajetic deserves a shot at understudy with the hope taking over .

MK - I just cannot see the club paying what it will take to get Bellingham here. I just don't see it happening. That said, IMO, in the summer we need -

1 Left footed, left sided CB.

2 Center Midfielders.

1 Right Wing/ Fwd to back up Salah.

Jones Red we should be going all out to get those two 'free' players IMO. I know the word 'free' is a misnomer here because of the other associated costs but they would add a great deal to this team without a £100m outlay being required. Maybe we've looked and decided they aren't for us but I can't see why (I doubt Klopp is scared of Rabot's mum) .

A cheap (ish) defensive option should be Manuel Ugarte of Sporting. Young, excellent ball winner and rarely looses the ball either. Exactly what we’re lacking at the moment. But doesn’t seem to be any real interest from us unfortunately.

Fabinho has been really poor but I would think this is partially at least due to the lack of press up top leaving him stranded. Hopefully worth a change of tactics to going back to the press and midfielders either side of him with the legs to carry out the press will help him find his form.

2 mids for me and that will do. We have enough already in attack to backup Salah. Not sure we need more CBs unless someone leaves, in which case a backup would do. Let's not dismantle the team over one poor season which can be tied more to a change of tactics than anything else. Yes, some of them are getting on in age but surely we have enough exciting talent coming through the academy to provide cover and/ or fight for the first team (Bajcetic, Doak, etc. )?

I like the look of Ugarte also Lavia if Southampton were to go down but not sure either are first 11 plahers yet. I think if we could cash in on Fabinho and get Rice it would improve the first 11. Give me a DM and two 8s rather than 3 8s.
