Team talk claiming we have offered Alonso a three year contract with the aim of beating Munich?

Any truth in this?

Jones red

{Ed002's Note - Xabi Alonso (C) A popular choice for clubs and having a great season at Bayer Leverkusen, but very inexperienced, although there will be interest in him from Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United. Has made no secret of a desire to follow Ancelotti at Real Madrid - but that won't be until 2026 so they can be discounted at this time although he has the support of Carlo Ancelotti. Klopp has endorsed both Alonso and Nagelsmann for the Liverpool job. Bayern Munich offer a serious option. If he were to win the league this season it would likely make it very difficult for him to leave Leverkusen and there would be significant pressure to stay. There are no clauses in his contract allowing him to leave to join any other club. His agent Inaki Ibanez has said that multiple clubs are enquiring and that clubs need to work with empoyers.}

I would prefer a different source, a different length of contract and news that it's been accepted but hopefully it all goes well.

2.) 28 Feb 2024 22:56:46
Teamtalk is utter garbage, they make stuff up on a daily basis.

3.) 28 Feb 2024 22:59:51
I feel a lot of Liverpool supporters are fooling themselves into thinking Alonso has some desire to return to the club.
I remember hearing back in Rafa's time that the reason Rafa turned on him was that he found out Alonso was working behind the clubs back to get a move to Real Madrid, his first love, I'm sure the Eds can confirm or debunk that.
Alonso is a Spanish national and it's always going to be on his list to manage RM.
Amorim or Lijnders I feel will be the next manager. I can't see it being Nagelsmann as he won't be available until after the Euros and that would be nuts.

{Ed001's Note - Rafa turned on him because he missed a match to be at the birth of his child, nothing to do with him engineering a move to Madrid. By the way, his kids are reds and he regularly used to come back over, while at both Madrid and Bayern, to watch Liverpool play at Anfield and he has publicly stated a desire to manage Liverpool.}

4.) 28 Feb 2024 23:38:56
I ve heard a few interviews before and I do get a sense that Real Madrid is his first love. Unfortunately.

But they have a manager. I always got the sense that we were his second love. Ahead of Bayern. I hope it plays out that we get him in. He definitely stated a desire to manage Liverpool one day. Hopefully that time will come this Summer.

5.) 29 Feb 2024 01:42:57
If Klopp wins the treble or even a double, would you want to come straight in after him? Sure as a manager you back yourself but the shoes become even bigger to fill. Esp if Alonso doesn’t win the bundesliga.

6.) 29 Feb 2024 09:32:51
Yesterday TT had an article claiming an in-the-know source (i. e. a random German footballers 'feeling') says Alonso won't go to Liverpool next to an article entitled 'Next Liverpool manager: Comparing Xabi Alonso’s superb Bundesliga record with Jurgen Klopp’s'. They are covering all their bases and statistically some of them will be accurate!

As a side note they are also pushing a story about Mo having already signed a contract to play in Saudi next season.

7.) 29 Feb 2024 11:11:29
Who reads Teamtalk?

8.) 29 Feb 2024 11:12:31
Old bloke down the pub, any pub, knows more about transfers than TeamTalk.

9.) 29 Feb 2024 12:24:21
I remember the old TeamTalk way back in the late 90s/ early 00s. I am sure I posted on that forum they had a few times.

10.) 29 Feb 2024 14:32:05
Ah Yes good old TeamTalk. more like $hitetalk!

Weren't they on tv teletext in the 1990's which mouth watering tantalising headlines/ rumours (*cough* lies) about your club followed by that all important premium rate number of 60p a minute.

Utter garbage is Team Talk on a par with Duncan Oldham.

11.) 29 Feb 2024 16:26:39
If the rumour that Alonso is keen to take over from Ancelotti in 2026 is true why should we even consider him as our next manager only for him to walk away as soon as Madrid come calling.

12.) 29 Feb 2024 20:11:42
Think about it.

Why would he hang his hat on Madrid in 2 years time? What happens if he loses half of his Leverkusen team at the end of this season then has a couple of poor seasons? Would Madrid still want him?

In life you have to take the opportunity when it presents itself and this might be the only time he’s ever offered the Liverpool job. He might never be offered the Madrid job depending on how his career goes.

He’d be very silly to dismiss this opportunity and wait for something that might never come.

I’m not saying he’s definitely coming to Liverpool but I’d think there’s a fair chance his head will be turned, then it’s down to us to persuade him to sign on the dotted line.

13.) 01 Mar 2024 11:15:55
I stopped reading Teamtalk when the infamous BB said Zidane was signing for Liverpool because Houllier was his god-father!

Hi Ed's is there any truth in us expressing an interest in Bournemouths Richard Hughes for Sporting Director role?

Jones red

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of an approach.}

1.) 29 Jan 2024 10:54:43
An interesting link. A former Scotland and Portsmouth player, spent part of his childhood in Milan, Italy and started out as a youth player at Atalanta before moving to Arsenal. He played out most of his career at Bournemouth and Portsmouth as a DM.

He scored the winning goal against us for Portsmouth in an FA Cup tie in 2004. He was also headbutted by Ronaldo, which led to a red card.

He's been at Bournemouth since the Eddie Howe days - presumably involved in Michael Edwards' (who was also chief analyst at Portsmouth at one point) magic trick of selling Jordan Ibe, Brad Smith and Dominic Solanke for hefty fees.

Couldn't tell you whether he has the chops to be Sporting Director of Liverpool but you never know.

2.) 29 Jan 2024 19:12:44
Data from the interweb?

23 Jan 2024 07:26:23
Hi Ed's are any clubs showing interest in loaning Ramsey from us as yet?

Jones red

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware but someone will be looking at offers.}

1.) 23 Jan 2024 09:09:22
Hello Ed, do you know any interest in our 1st team player from other team? Apart from Salah and the usual Saudi interest.

{Ed002's Note - The summer will see departures and additions.}

2.) 23 Jan 2024 09:46:25
Love that response Ed!

You are sounding like a Michael Owen special “ultimately it’s a game of two halves”.

3.) 23 Jan 2024 12:35:02
Thanks Ed. Do you know who is showing interest in Phillips.

{Ed002's Note - Nat Phillips (CB) Time to move on come the summer - but will help with the HG problem Liverpool have now created for themselves for the rest of the season so a move seems unlikely.}

4.) 23 Jan 2024 13:11:26
Cheers.

Musilowski looks to be leaving also. Shame it didn’t pan out as I think his contract expires this summer. Look really promising at one point, but doesn’t seem to have kicked since his cameo in the first team.

Do you know if it’s Leeds or Birmingham who are taking him.

{Ed002's Note - Birmingham want a loan if he will sign an extension.}

5.) 23 Jan 2024 21:28:01
I read Leeds could take both Ramsay and Musialowski.

6.) 23 Jan 2024 21:50:44
Be good if Musilowski extends and the both go there and get games. I still think there’s a player there, and he’s knuckled down this season. Hope he gets a goos Run of games and then see how he does. Definitely needs a loan to get more experience.

13 Jan 2024 23:35:43
Hi Ed's are there any clubs as yet looking to take Ramsey on loan for remainder of the season? Understand he has only just got back, but is any clubs looking to take him?

Jones red

{Ed002's Note - I don't know I am afraid. He was not getting the opportunities he needed on loan so the club will look to another solution.}

12 Dec 2023 20:47:49
Ed's just wondering do we hold any interest in Florian Wirtz of Leverkusen seems to have recovered from his injury and is looking good.

Jones red

{Ed002's Note - Florian Wirtz (AM/F) Arrived as a replacement for Havertz and made an immediate impact with admirers in Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all sending scouts. Newcastle have a very experienced third party continuing scouting players in Germany for them and have also looked at Wirtz. He signed a new long-term contract in 2022 but has struggled to for a long while due to serious injury. He is now recovered. Newcastle remain keen if he could prove his fitness. Both Bayern Munich and Manchester City are continuing their interest and Chelsea have him on a list of possible AM options and should not be discounted. Liverpool have not made any offer for the player regardless of what the supporters think. Expect him to stay in the summer unless an offer of more than €100M is made and then it will be up to the player.}

1.) 13 Dec 2023 13:47:35
Id imagine most players will think twice before joining the mess that is Chelsea. I guess the financial rewards are huge but its a mess.

2.) 13 Dec 2023 14:15:26
Really hope Florian Wirtz can join us. I really do see he has that Liverpool DNA.

3.) 13 Dec 2023 15:55:30
Wirtz is right footed, primarily plays on the left side when he's in the attack, so I'm unsure how people are pegging him as a Salah replacement. Seems more fit to be a Diaz replacement if both he and Salah were to move on next summer. With that said, I don't think we have reason to believe Diaz is moving on next summer.

4.) 13 Dec 2023 15t5:53:54
Can only see Bayern for him tbh. City after thatMy McDonald's App

5.) 15 Dec 2023 05:46:47
Ed02 was there any truth to the speculation linking Diaz w a move to Saudi?

{Ed002's Note - It sounds like news from last summer.
Luis Diaz (LW) Could be surplus. His agent already has one player in the Saudi league and has been offering another high profile player he has - so he may well be looking at Diaz as well given Liverpool are well stocked in the position. Al-Hillal may offer a solution. Liverpool will likely resist a deal but could look to a deal with Barcelona if they are serious about Raphina.}

I can see what people are saying as we have seen some players stay too long and leave for nominal fees or for free even. I think there will be a bid in the summer from the Saudi league definitely but for how much who knows. And by how much I mean transfer fee and contract offer.

If we won the title would he think of leaving on a high? It’s far too early to say either way.
