Performance still not great especially once they went down to 10 Alisson probably man of the match but all about the results.

It was a must win game and we won. Allison was brilliant.

We started very slowly but did more than enough to win the game.

Newcastle didn’t score because of our world class keeper. We didn’t score more because of some poor finishing and decision making.

All that matters though is 3 points on the board and onto Real on Tuesday night.

Palace, Wolves and Utd then and 9 points would be a bitter sweet return.

Typical of us for me. When we've took the early advantage like that in the past we've took our foot off the gas. I think Klopps had one eye on Tuesday. Still had moments to score more but so did Newcastle.

We did ok I think. 2 up before the big decision, which was the correct call although it seemed to affect us more than Newcastle at times. We one, clean sheet and hopefully a clean bill of health, Bobby and Jota got more minutes and Big Virg got a full game under his belt.
Not too much to really moan about honestly and anyone thinking we were going to be back to our imperious best need their heads tested. Small steps ?.

Not sure why the ref was awful? Had one big decision and he got it right. Don't remember him being a big draw from the action. Only 11 fouls in the whole match which is pretty unheard of these days. Credit to both sides for playing football and not diving about. I'm sure that's got a lot to do with the managers and how they want their teams to play. Ref gets credit imo for letting the game flow.

United have an extra game before we play them w some pressure matches. We win our games we'll be 5 behind them. One at a time i know but players coming back along w some confidence we're well capable of getting back amongst it.

Great result, players coming back from injury with 2 wins on the trot, young Stefan doing awesome in midfield, Darwin getting good goal, looking positive atm.

I do have one gripe about the game, it may be because Virgil first game back, it appeared to me on 2 occasions that it looked as if communication between Virgil and Ali wasn’t the best, could be down to constant change of CBs in front of Ali, just something that I noticed.

Roll on Real, who I must say, I’ve watched a number of their games this season, it appears to me, they have issues from cut backs from the byline to penalty spot, they have been done a number of times with a late arrival in the box that way, they were beat that way 2 goals nearly identical in same match.

Unpopular opinion but I don’t care. Jota put himself in position 3 times to score. First header was a terrible effort, rounding the keeper was a Terrible decision and touch and his dive header wasn’t an easy chance.

Bobby almost put Newcastle in two positions to score with his loose passing or flicks but as always will go unmentioned.

I agree about Firmino, JK. He was terrible. I don't see what he offers. That doesn't mean I wouldn't move Jota on though.

You understand that Jota has been out for a long time and needs some time to get back into match shape, right? Can't expect him to come right out of the gate and be like he was before the injury. A fully fit Jota would have put those away.
