It will all depend on investment I suppose.

Someone needs to write about our finances! What a shame we have nobody in this group who understand basic finances! A club which generated £600 mill in revenue is struggling to sign 4 top quality players since 2018. What a pity.

Good read Shughes55. Only thing I disagree on is Mount as an alternative to Bellingham. They are not in the same galaxy, nevermind league. If Bellingham doesn’t end up signing, I would rather let the incoming DOF pick an alternative.

Whilst I agree with most of your assessment of the players, I think that any liverpool supporter who expects us to break the transfer record ( which we probably will need to for Bellingham) is only setting themselves up for disappointment. I expect that we will have to settle for more affordable options . I do think that there will be considerable movement though the replacements will be not the caliber that we are all dreaming off . I will give these potential signings the support as I also believe that expensive signings is not always a guarantee of success. We walk with hope in our hearts but also in the realization that our great team has run it's course and there needs to be rebuilt .

Swiss Ramble wrote a new piece on the latest published figures last week, if anyone is truly interested.

my fear is that our midfield revamp will be Maddison and Mount. In my view that would be a disaster.

Ye I did had a read @FLY. The club has paid massive amount back to FSG to reduce the debt which was seen as the priority than investment!
I believe in karma! FSG can’t sell and now they have to splash huge or we are languishing in mid table
The club has reduced its debt by 20% which only benefits FSG!

And for Mason Mount. He is the modern day AOC. A player that his parent club no longer wants, in his last year of contract, doesn’t know what his true position is, is neither a CM nor a winger and is available for £40 mill.
Perfect LFC scenario.

Interesting article, Shughes55.

I don’t think Gvardiol Bellingham Osimhen Zielinksi is ever going to happen, nor do I think it solves anything.

Also curious about your comparison of Fabinho’s drop off to Delle Ali. I can’t see the resemblance.

Is Gvardiol getting too much hype?

We need to buy for whatever system (s) we intend to play. We’ve made a massive investment in Darwin Diaz Gakpo and have clearly committed to develop the likes of Elliott and Carvalho. If that recruitment was not random, then could we be heading for a different midfield setup to the six and two eights to allow us to put more forwards on the pitch?

Good read shughes55.

I have to disagree on Nunez. He already has 14 this season in 22 starts with 13 games left. Mane got less than 14 goals in his whole first season and turned out alright. Nunez misses a lot of chances but so did Suarez in his first season. For me he is already a 20 goal a season player and only going to get better. Maybe sign a versatile player who can cover midfield and attack (Lindstrom? ) .

Agree fully on Gvardiol, he should be first choice target. Also wouldn't mind Zielinski in spite of his age, although i'd go younger/ cheaper in Rabiot (also better defensively and a Liverpool fan) . Mount i'm not convinced by but he's better than what we have. Obviously Bellingham would be better than Mount but as you say, cost could be an issue.

Personally i think we'd be more sensible to sign 2 centre backs, 2 midfielders and a versatile attacking midfielder.

Schuurs, Gvardiol, Rabiot, Bellingham and Lindstrom would be nice (as an example) . Would happily lose Adrian, Gomez, Matip, Virgil, Fabinho, Milner, Keita, Ox, Jota and Firmino. Get that wage bill down big time. Would also happily replace Konate but not a priority really of we had Schuurs instead of Matip/ Gomez as the back up. As he'll stay fit.

Definitely bring back Bradley to push Trent because Ramsay looks like he'd do his back in pushing out a loose stool. And let Phillips be 4th choice centre back. Pace or not he proved in 20/ 21 he can be relied upon in a crisis and he's never injured and always gives everything. Probably give Morton and Doak more chances too. 3rd keeper can be a kid. How often do you actually use them?

Alisson, Kelleher
Trent, Bradley
Schuurs, Konate
Gvardiol, Phillips
Robbo, Kostas
Rabiot, Bajcetic, Morton
Bellingham, Thiago
Lindstrom, Hendo, Jones
Salah, Elliott, Doak
Gakpo, Carvalho
Nunez, Diaz.

Corrections on my previous post. I also disagree with the Nunez part. I believe he is truly special and could go onto become a Liverpool legend if he puts in the hard work and has a decent side around him. He will score 20 plus next season as long as he doesn’t get any major injuries.

Nunez is phenomenal and has the ability to be as good as he wants to be cos his talent is undeniable. The whole “he misses too many chances” schtick is all old, rehashed stuff still being used by his detractors to beat him with. And when he scores and assists as much as he has been doing of late, his detractors are nowhere to b found. The kid will b fine.

Any window they includes Rabiot and Mount as potential incomings can be written off as a bad one. Rabiot is lazy, slow and can’t be bothered. Mount is neither a centre midfielder or a number 10.

MK, if that is our squad next season, we’d better get used to life outside the top four as those midfield options are appallingly bad. Not one competent defensive midfielder amongst them. We’d be getting pumped for 3 or 4 goals every other week.

@Use my name - spot on mate, the first thing we should all learn about finances is the difference between revenue and profit eh?

@Victor, what’s this about useless midfielders? Where do you get that idea from?

{Ed001's Note - I see VVVV still has no idea about players. Rabiot is not slow and certainly not lazy. It is clear that we can just ignore VVVV and his bull as it is lies based on never watching these players actually play. Rabiot's big asset is his workrate. He has always been a worker.}

Correct WDW . The old saying that turnover is vanity and profit is sanity comes to mind.

Also agree on Rabiot, really good player and I wouldn’t be disappointed signing Mount either. A change of team would do him good ?.

If Mount and Rabiot are the answer, I am not sure what the question is.

@FPF : Perhaps it could be can you name a midfielder whose name begins with M and another midfielder whose name begins with R?

In fairness FPF, Rabiot is a very hard working midfielder - exactly the type of hardworking midfielder we need tbh, plus is on a free

Mount - I like the guy, others don't I get it but he is energetic, never stops, never gives up, likes to get it forward and has an eye for goal. Sounds like qualities we need no?

A midfield mix of Rabiot, Mount, Bellingham, Bacjetic, Hendo, Thiago, Jones and Elliott would be plenty to cover 3 spots wouldn't it? Also, I'd give Elliott and young Doak (more in the domestic cups mind for him) chances at covering Salah tbh who plays far too many games

Add Gvardiol and ins would be him, Mount, Bellingham and Rabiot. I hate talking money but Gvardiol is about 80m, Mount maybe around 50m, Rabiot on a free and Bellingham will be big, heard Real have offered 100m Euros plus 35m in add ons (whether or not that's true though) . Awk I don't count on media projections about cost, though Ed2 is usually spot on tbh - either way, big investment needed which would be funded not just by investment but player sales - the likes of Matip, Phillips perhaps even Fabinho? If he stays possibly only 2 incoming midfielders needed so outlay can be reduced - big summer ahead anyways.
