Got to say dom has been my fav player so far this season and he’s still settling in which means he will get even better I think we have a serious talent here
What are other people’s fav performers so far this season?

Tough to choose between Diaz, Szoboszlai and Virg. All had strong starts this time around.

I really like the look of both Jones and Elliott so far. Nothing spectacular, I just don't know how to elaborate them further.

I'm relieved with VVD's form. Certainly better than last year's, and will help tremendously in settling down what is still an uneasy defense.

Haizan are you talking about Jones as a player in general because he played 24 mins of the first game and missed the second and is due to miss the 3rd because of injury.

The player who seems to have gone under the radar for not having a good start is Gakpo. Listened to an analysis last night and over the two games he has the lowest pass completion of every player including Jota (the site whipping boy) and has averaged around 26 passes a game. Szlob on the other side averages 50.

This’ll sound like a Gakpo bashing but it’s not. I think he should be first choice centre forward by a country mile but he’s being asked to play a position he’s not that good or comfortable in.

Interesting points JK23.
I think we know, though, that Gakpo is being asked to do a temporary job in midfield.
Needs must and all that.
Bobby did it from time to time.
I can actually remember Kevin Keegan playing in midfield for Liverpool in 74 (I think) whilst Phil Boersma took his CF position for a while.
I think it reflects well on the player's character rather than criticising their performance.
It also reflects that midfield reinforcement is still required.

Juicer 100% agree mate.

I really like Gakpo but I think he’s wasted in midfield. The other thing that came out was Jones attempted and completed more passes in his 24 mins than Gakpo did in his 66 mins against Chelsea.

Gakpo at centre forward looks excellent he is able to hold the ball up, link play, dribble, press and is a goal threat.

I think once Mac Alister moves forward into his preferred position and Klopp settles on who the Dm is then we will start controlling games a lot more and be even more threatening in attack and hopefully more solid out of possession.

Newcastle have a quality midfield and as a team have apparently covered the most distance over the first 2 games so it’s going a be a tough game tomorrow.

There’s 6 days left of the window so perhaps the rebuild isn’t finished yet but I can’t really remember us getting someone late in a window that’s turned out to be a success. I’m thinking Arthur, Kabak Caulker etc.

Im sure all of our success stories were bought earlier. I might be wrong about Suarez and Diaz etc they might have come in late but in Jan when the windows open a month then bringing in a player early or late is a matter of days.
