Like everyone else I am absolutely gutted that Klopp is leaving.

Something does not make sense. Why start re-building Liverpool 2.0 when he knew he was going to be leaving. He told the club back in November which leads me to believe I think Jurgen is leaving due to health reasons. What they are is obviously private and personal. Possibly stress related? Football management is a very stressful job, and we remember what happened to Gerard Houllier (RIP) in 2001.

I say this because last season it seemed like Pep was managing the team more and it showed through tactics - Jurgen may have taken a back seat but quickly realised that he would have to take a more direct approach from this season onwards.

Rumours flying around that he is unhappy with FSG. I believe that to be a load of bull.

Maybe the Ed's or Macca can enlighten us if they have any info.

I wish him well for the future and will never forget what he has done for us. A very sad day.

He did mention managing again (just not in England), so I'd suspect it's more to do with wanting to go out on a high, rather than health issues.

I think we should take it at face value. Last season caught him off guard and took a lot out of him. He might've left then, but he felt a responsibility to get us back on track.

"For me it was super-, super-, super-important that I can help to bring this team back on to the rails. It was all I was thinking about. When I realised pretty early that happened, it’s a really good team with massive potential and a super age group, super characters and all that, then I could start thinking about myself again and that was the outcome. "

I don’t think health issues will wait around until the last game in May.

If it is then the sporting director and all the back room staff might have the same issues as they are going as well.

Very strange time to announce but I’m sure more info will come out in the coming months.

Tbf Ed002 told us for years that he wanted to get a rebuild substantially done before going. Maybe he looked as his all new midfield, coupled with replacing two of the front three and decided now was a good a time as he was going to get.

The fact that the club have announced all the backroom staff and sporting director are leaving leads me to believe that new manager announcement is due imminently i. e. the deal has already been done and the new manager will bring his own backroom staff with him.

The club have had 2 months to secure a replacement and I believe FSH has already got their man hence Klopp's announcement this morning.

If it's just health reasons which he said himself it wasn't and he's healthyo, why then does pep ljinders and several backroom staff leave also. Weird.

{Ed001's Note - why is that weird?}

I suspect that Jurgen made his announcement today because FSG are approaching replacements and could not gaurantee that other clubs would maintain confidentiality.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of FSG approaching any replacements.}

Magico, there is nothing weird about what he said. I think you are overthinking this esp. since Lijnders and the rest of the staff are off, as well.

Ed02 - what’s your gut feeling on who will replace Klopp?

{Ed002's Note - Alonso or Ljinders perhaps.}
