What’s the update on injuries? Been great 5 days with the youth players showing their worth but I will be relieved when Mo, Dom, Darwin and Trent return.

{Ed001's Note - Mo, Dom and Darwizzy are meant to be fit for the weekend. Jones and Gravenberch are expected back the following weekend. Trent, Ali and Bajcetic are probably not going to play in March, maybe the final game at best. Jota is not expected back until mid-April.}

Good man ed1, good to see a nice clear lay out of the injuries.

Ed1. Ali seems to pick up an awful lot of injuries for a goalkeeper, seems he misses a lot of games threw the years. Am I right in saying that do u think?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I have never really looked at what others are getting in terms of injuries nowadays. Players in general miss more games these days.}

Ali definitely misses more games than the average goalkeeper.

Our long term injury record worries me. I don't yet want to blame staff because I don't have enough information, but every year we go through this and it's probably cost us a league title or two, IMO. We haven't had a good season injury-wise since we won the league, which isn't a coincidence.

Ali shouldn't be injured this often, considering how efficiently he moves his body around, unlike someone like Pickford.

It just feels like every time we get a full squad back, another 3, 4 or 5 suddenly go down for another prolonged period of time. We can never get in front of the 8 ball. And then you look at City, whom apart from the odd KDB injury don't seem to have any troubles with it.

You should consider the fact that Ali plays far more like an outfield player than most keepers. He does far more with the ball at his feet outside of the traditional keeper requirements therefore is more likely than most keepers to pick up 'outfield' injuries.

Supposing we get through this period unscathed (up to now the players have been incredible) and the injuries clear up soon, might the injuries to key players become an asset rather than a liability? We’ve played the last 3 games with half a team of starters and haven’t had a fully available squad since December - a lot of our big players have played fewer minutes this season and will be very fresh heading into the last part of the season, all the while our rivals will be getting ever more tired. Just a thought.

ShipleyKopite, exactly. It's like people just make such statements about Ali picking up injuries without actually considering the things he is asked to do which he does at an extremely high level) and the toll that can take on him physically especially on his calves and hamstrings which are the muscles he uses majority of the time. And the comparison to Pickford is just cringe.

I understand the frustration and all that BUT you cannot just ignore the actual things and duties he (and the other players) are asked to do and how much of a toll these things can take on their bodies esp. the muscular side of things. There are both sides to this.

Massive well done to the kids and fit seniors once again. It cannot be understated how well they have done over the last 3 games and whenever called upon throughout the season so far.

But, it's time to bring back some of the big guns now. Really hope we see Mo, Darwin and Dom back for the weekend. We need them.

Everyone has different genetic make up and muscle fibres and movement patterns.

It has nothing to do with how many back passes Allison has to deal with etc.

And a lot of the time misfortune can come into it. For every elite athlete that pulls, strains or tears a muscle they are conducting a movement plane that their body has performed millions of time before without becoming injured.

When players injure a primary muscle then more strain is placed on the support muscle and vice versa hence why injuries can appear frequent.

Similar to how a niggle will effect someone walking or
Running subconsciously to doing it comically and then this will likely alternate the movement pattern and gait
For example has anyone ever walked with a limp due to an ankle injury and then after a while feel discomfort in their shins, knees or even hamstrings.

It’s because the body is accustomed to that individuals movement pattern over years and the slightest change makes a world of difference.

Ed001, what about Wataru Endo?

{Ed001's Note - sorry he should have been with the first group as he is expected to be fit to play at the weekend.}

Sorry to finish off my point being is everyone differs.

Unfortunately some might be more prone to niggles and injuries than others and luck can play a part.

I agree with all you have said, JK23. Everything is on the table (including the amount of back passes, runs to cover spaces as a sweeper keeper etc. ) . What I don't like is the innuendo I seem to deduce by people on this topic going after or appearing to go after AB1 for picking up injuries, making him look or sound injury-prone which is absolute waffle, IMO.

I guess I'm a little surprised by the extend of Alisson's injury. There's no particular reason for my surprise, but I didn't think initially that the time out would be that much. I guess I didn't pay attention to the original reports close enough, haha.

Hopefully, the squad can hold down the fort until everyone returns.

I’d also like us to replace Linders but we would probably need 3 people for that.

I’m thinking Jk Rowling as one so we’ve not lost the ability to release a book and then John Terry as the other as he’s easy to hate and he can fulfil the fall guy category and then lastly Steve McClaren who can replace Pep’s media duties with his Dutch accent.

Jobs a good un.
