ESPN is reporting Liverpool interest in Angelo Stiller. It's a name I've seen on here before. May just be recycled, but he looks like an interesting prospect.
1.) 07 Feb 2025 00:13:51
I watched a video on him a few weeks back and he looks absolutely brilliant. Signed a new contract with a reasonable release clause.
2.) 07 Feb 2025 01:06:06
Not sure if he’s past it now. Hasn’t been in anything good since Tropic Thunder.
12 Sep 2024 05:53:54
Ed2, I believe I've asked this question before, but I'm not sure if it ever got posted.
I'm curious to know your favorite players of all time. You provide so much info about transfers, but I'm interested to know who you enjoyed watching the most.
{Ed002's Note - There are plenty who were well worth watching - the likes of Johan Cruyff, Rivaldo, Ruud Gullit, Zico, Rivellino, Enzo Scifo and Ronaldinho.}
1.) 12 Sep 2024 08:48:04
Scifo was an amazing player, one of those players who could dribble past an entire team from deep, I only got to watch him near the tail end of his career when he played for Monaco but what a number 10!
2.) 12 Sep 2024 08:57:13
My first ever watching of a World Cup was Mexico ‘86
Michael Laudrup- who I think was close to joining the reds at one point - was a fantastic player.
3.) 12 Sep 2024 11:01:23
I remember ed001 shared exactly how close Laudrup was to joining us and how we messed it up, wasn’t he supposed to join us straight from Denmark and somebody thought he wasn’t worth the money?
{Ed001's Note - no mate, Laudrup himself didn't feel he was good enough to play for us at the time. Strange for a self-confessed Liverpool fan, but that was the big issue.}
4.) 12 Sep 2024 11:24:24
For me my favorite players of all time are all defenders lol- cafu, aldair, zanetti, maldini, desailly, and Virgil haha
The exceptions to this list would be mcmanaman and God.
5.) 12 Sep 2024 12:17:18
Instead of Laudrup, we ended up with Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and Houghton, so it didn't end too badly, as great a player as he was.
6.) 12 Sep 2024 12:54:28
Good point Rome.
7.) 12 Sep 2024 13:21:15
Loved Hyypia, Patrik. Such a graceful defender. If he'd been a little quicker across the gound he'd be the best ever, imo. Scored a couple of bangers with his feet too.
8.) 12 Sep 2024 14:15:38
I might be romanticising him here and it could purely be nostalgia clouding my memory, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sami lose an aerial duel in our box lol, when I was young I was in awe of how dominant he was, a colossus indeed.
9.) 12 Sep 2024 14:58:49
Paul McGrath has to be up there with the best of defenders. USA 94 against Italy is possibly the best performance from a defender I have ever seen.
10.) 12 Sep 2024 15:09:06
Johan Cruyff for me. From an LFC point of view Patrick Berger Craig Johnston and Tommy Smith were some of my favs.
11.) 12 Sep 2024 19:56:37
I might be wrong rome77 but I think we close to buying Laudrup around 83/ 84, few years before that brilliant front 4 u mentioned.
He would've been some player for us in any era or any team.
12.) 12 Sep 2024 19:58:44
Hyypia was an absolute beast, near unbeatable in the air and positioning was immense. Proper defender, you rarely get the like of him nowadays. As said above if he'd of been a bit quicker he'd of been on Virgils level but he comes second to him IMO as best CB in red that iv seen play. The 80's were a tad early for me unfortunately.
{Ed025's Note - he was very good Westwood, not Jarred Branthwaite good but not far off it mate.. :)
13.) 12 Sep 2024 20:09:54
Apart from the obvious Dalglish I idolised Ray Kennedy and Terry McDermott. Terry Mac's highlight reel is simply ridiculous.
{Ed025's Note - all great players them Flash..
14.) 12 Sep 2024 20:13:30
Digger10, reading up on it, he was indeed linked to us in 83/ 84, according to reports, which say it was a difference in the length of contract which stopped him joining. I just remember watching a video of the 87/ 88 season and whoever it was who did the voice-over saying, that we once courted Laudrup but turned to Barnes and Beardsley instead. We may both be right. He certainly wasn't established back in 1983.
15.) 12 Sep 2024 18:22:42
A poster earlier on mentioned patrik berger as one of his favourite players. i remember him being good with a cracking left peg but as i was young i don't know how good he was. so ed01 what you think.
{Ed001's Note - I have to be careful what I say here, my ma is in love with him so to say anything other than good things will get me in a lot of trouble. He was a very good player, worked hard, quick, good left peg, could hit a shot but did have a few injury problems.}
16.) 12 Sep 2024 22:01:44
John Barnes and Steve Heighway two of my favorite Liverpool players to watch. Trevor Francis and Henry two of the best non reds I have seen at Anfield. I know who thought there was football before 1992.
17.) 13 Sep 2024 00:52:06
I love to watch ronaldinho I'm his prime, never has a player played with the same level of joy as ronaldinho. I also think Ronaldo nazario is the best attacker I've ever seen play.
But my absolute favourite player ever is Roberto Baggio for a variety of reasons. I was also pleased to find out he's one of the nicest people on earth and generous to a fault.
18.) 13 Sep 2024 01:05:11
I like the fact Ed002 picked mostly traditional number 10s.
From a personal view (outside of Liverpool) to add to those mentioned I loved Zidane, Van Basten, Iniesta and Baresi. but Maradonna was the best!
19.) 13 Sep 2024 01:47:20
Cruyff, my favourite ever player to watch but for Liverpool? Dalglish, without a shadow of a doubt. There's obviously quite a few but if I'm picking a number one then it's 100% Dalglish.
20.) 13 Sep 2024 02:02:21
I had limited matches to watch growing up, usually random Champions League matches on ESPN. I loved watching AC Milan. Was a huge Maldini fan, as well as Nesta and Kaka. Always loved watching Shearer and Bergkamp.
21.) 13 Sep 2024 06:52:12
Rome77. Wasn't trying to act the know it all, what I was getting at it was that he would've been in a previous team and wouldn't have effected us so much of buying 1 of that front 4,as that front 4 a joy to watch and for many a football supporter around my age that is why they fell in love with football and lfc.
22.) 13 Sep 2024 09:01:37
Agree Digger
We signed Aldridge when Rush went to Juve and then brought in Barnes and Beardsley later, and Houghto
Laudrup was linked prior to the WC ‘86
And of course, we weren’t competing in Europe at that stage either.
23.) 13 Sep 2024 09:06:40
BenRichards, I noticed that too, It think Ed002 has a type! My favourite players to watch as a kid (away from the obvious Torres and Gerrard) were Totti, Del Piero, Seedorf, Kaka, Nedved, Pandev and Ronaldinho. I just loved Italian football around that 2005-2010 era because they had so many good Attacking Midfielders and Second Strikers. Seedorf was the only anomoly as he played slightly deeper but he was just a monster.
Great picks Ed002.
24.) 13 Sep 2024 09:42:59
The list is long for me but here are my faves in no particular order; Ronaldinho, Maradona, Batistuta, Socrates, Rai, Barnes, Gascoigne, Waddle, Rijkaard, (Brazilian) Ronaldo, Zola, Hagi, Et'o, Weah, Stoichkov, Maldini, Baresi, Valderrama, Zidane and I will stop at Buffon.
25.) 13 Sep 2024 11:33:11
Laudrup said that a deal was agreed with liverpool, over a 3 yr contract. As he was about to sign, the board came back and said they wanted it to be over 4 yrs.
Laudrup was upset with the way the club tried to change there agreement and decided not to sign.
26.) 13 Sep 2024 16:22:00
I remember that was what he claimed himself, but it seems pretty bogus if you ask me, why would he kick up such a fuss about an extra year?
27.) 13 Sep 2024 18:00:28
Domestically Barnes was my favourite. Loved watching foreign football, for some reason always like Jean Pierre Papin and Basile Boli from Marseille, waddle Hagi Stoiichkov Baggio. Boban, Rui Costa.
07 Sep 2024 07:22:34
ESPN is reporting that VVD and the team have started talking about an extension. I hope that's true.
1.) 07 Sep 2024 08:12:36
Me too. Such a unique player.
2.) 07 Sep 2024 08:38:48
So do I. Best cb I've ever seen.
3.) 07 Sep 2024 09:21:07
FSG made a mistake with one of their baseball stars by not renewing, as i recall. Hopefully they have learnt from that and will reward the very best players with longer, higher valued contracts. Some players can maintain the highest standards to 35+. Chiellini went on to 39.
Bottom line, Virgil may have 3/ 5 years left at the top level, if rotated and parked in the garage for milk cup games.
4.) 07 Sep 2024 09:53:11
Let’s hope so. He’s still the best.
5.) 07 Sep 2024 10:27:56
I posted a while back on this. It’s all under control. They know what they’re doing.
6.) 07 Sep 2024 11:19:12
1jj. Ha ha good one, I nearly wet my. You never ever let your best pl Run down their contracts. It’s the definition of insanity.
7.) 07 Sep 2024 12:30:32
I thought the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?
Is this a new definition now to support certain constantly negative outlooks?
8.) 07 Sep 2024 12:39:59
They had the entire summer to sort out contracts, I wonder why they would push it so late and cause players and fans to have the anxiety about the contract situations? This should not come as a surprise, and the Club should at least inform the players if they were getting an extension or not. If either side is not willing to accept any of the contract terms, at least we can plan ahead to find replacements etc.
9.) 07 Sep 2024 12:48:19
I’d of liked him to retire from international football at the end of the euros to be honest but he’s probably go the World Cup in his sights.
10.) 07 Sep 2024 13:02:13
Retirenment in the desert can wait until the 50's. The Saudi's would probably start an ex pro pensioners league if it bought them some kudos.
11.) 07 Sep 2024 14:15:17
In 5 years time VVD will be coming up on 39. Gibing him a five year contract is pretty unlikely and would have thevrighteous section howling in 4 years time when VVD can’t run and will be jogging his contract down.
12.) 07 Sep 2024 15:26:15
FTD is you don’t think it’s an insane situation how do you explain the mess?
13.) 07 Sep 2024 19:56:11
Players are playing a lot longer than they used to. Saying that- 5 years is a bit much.
14.) 07 Sep 2024 20:15:05
I don't think it's a good idea to give players in their mid 30s long contracts. Rate of decline at that age can be quite rapid. The ones who don't are the outliers in the data set.
Imagine if they played their way into brand new 3 year 350k a week deals and then perform very poorly after that and their salaries constrain our budget even more?
15.) 07 Sep 2024 22:49:03
When I think of insanity or mess in football terms I look no further than Everton.
And I don't see a mess, just business to be dealt with that ideally would have been dealt with sooner.
It doesn't seem to be affecting players performances, Slot seems relaxed about it all, the club seem to be relaxed about it all.
I just don't see the drama that many seem to relish.
16.) 08 Sep 2024 00:21:22
I imagine some people didn’t use the forum in those long lost days when people weren’t happy with Edwards v1.0 for hading out very long contracts that meant we couldn’t move players on, as they were happy to keep turning up and taking the money.
17.) 08 Sep 2024 04:11:42
@DAPred and others (as ever including the anxious @Mark) may I ask you a couple of genuine question s?
Why do contracts have to be settled in summer? There is 5 months to negotiate a contract prior to the beginning of ‘open season’ next January and in particular at a time (in the summer) when a new group in both the front and back office were bedding in, and, in particular, at a time when the new coach was assessing the players who were already here - who he wanted to keep and those who he was happy to release?
Second question - would you agree that it is possible for the club to have a succession plan in place prior to discussions with players coming off contract (rather like Marmalade as the long term replacement for Ali? )
{Ed001's Note - better questions would be -
1. Why wasn't it done a year ago or more, in the case of Trent? The fact they left it until the final year is imbecilic. It is all very well saying there is months before anyone can make an offer, but that is not the point. The point is that now the power has all gone to the players. You have no recourse to sell if they choose not to sign. It has backed the club into a corner, which is when you lose out financially as a good agent will screw you for more on the deal or you end up having to lose them without getting any recompense. Either way, the only one who loses it is the club itself.
2. Why on earth does anyone think that the keeper we have signed is a replacement for Ali? Why did we even need one when he was not intending to leave and we already have 2 (maybe even 3 or 4) potential replacements? Why did we not sign one that is suited to the way we play if he genuinely was to be a replacement for Ali?}
18.) 08 Sep 2024 11:52:06
We're also lucky that Slot has started so well.
Imagine these 2 players, in the current situation, had the start of the season been bad.
19.) 08 Sep 2024 12:15:41
Edd001, that goalkeeper is apparently a worldie in the making according to many posters on this site when i brought that up. Allison is the best about and has atleast 4 years in him imo. You get him tied down unless he does plan to leave next year.
{Ed001's Note - Alisson has always been clear that he is happy in Liverpool. Even if not, there is plenty of options within the club that suit the style of play. It makes no sense to go buy one who doesn't, no matter how comparatively cheap he is, especially as the market is dropping. Player values are falling, so it is not a good time for speculative purchases.}
20.) 08 Sep 2024 13:01:23
The keeper signing has me worried. Will it put a bee in Alison’s bonnet? For me He is beyond reproach why would you jeopardise the situation? Is he sitting there now second guessing himself / club? Not to mention kelleher. Can you imagine if klopp was still here and he heard that he be like WHAT! hopefully when slot settles in he will call these idiots out. Loony’s have definitely took over the asylum.
21.) 08 Sep 2024 13:07:40
Really ed1? Player prices dropping and an end to the madness? Wouldn’t that be something?
{Ed001's Note - I doubt there will ever be an end to the madness but the new financial regs just require everyone to take a step back and adjust. It will probably get even crazier with deals done just to stay within PSR, like were done early in the window this time and then everything calming for the rest of the window. What it will mean is that making a profit through trading is going to be very difficult to do, very few clubs are likely to have spare capital to spend. Deals will be more creative, which is not to the benefit of those teams looking to make money via player trading. It could take 5 years, or more, to settle down and begin to rebuild prices again. It has happened before, when Serie A's scandals killed their league financially, the prices dropped for a few years. Back then the market was underpinned by Serie A's spending, in recent years it has been the English Prem which has propped up the market with money flowing out of it. The new regs have meant that most teams will need time to adjust, but particularly in the Prem. That will almost certainly see prices dip markedly for a while as the Prem will not be throwing money around.}
22.) 08 Sep 2024 14:05:23
Interesting times ahead ed1. Much appreciated.
{Ed001's Note - always a pleasure saloe.}
23.) 09 Sep 2024 09:31:42
I think FSG like to earn from their mistakes. These three mistakes could prove costly.
29 Aug 2024 16:56:04
Quick question for Ed2, if you're able. You've said all along that you thought Chiesa was the better option for Liverpool than Gordon. I agree because I think Chiesa is a better player.
I'm just curious if your opinion was because you think Chiesa is the better player, fits better at Liverpool, or just has a better price tag? I'd think it's a combination of all of those.
My apologies if this has been asked. I searched an didn't see anything. Thanks!
{Ed002's Note - All three disc (if that is your real name).}
1.) 29 Aug 2024 17:46:49
Haha, certainly an abbreviation of my real name. Very much appreciated Ed.
2.) 29 Aug 2024 23:13:45
Disc is an abbreviation?
You must be “Disco Stu”.
03 Jul 2024 00:36:11
There's a rumor on this side of the Atlantic that the US is interested in Klopp. I assume we can't afford him. As someone who can't stand Berhalter, and follows Liverpool, this would be a dream come true (and yes, I realize there is likely no chance of this happening) .
Any of the Ed's heard any rumors? Thanks!
{Ed002's Note - Berhalter will be likely stand down or be replaced and whilst the USSF will be discussing options, Klopp would perhaps be desireable but unobtainable. They certainly are looking to other options.}
1.) 03 Jul 2024 11:07:28
Thanks Ed!
{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}
2.) 03 Jul 2024 12:08:55
Thank god Ed. As a yank i am appalled by the nepotism and incompetence of US Soccer. I hope they go for someone who actually knows the game and coaches beyond the MLS.
{Ed002's Note - I am surprised you refer to yourself by that derogatory term.}
3.) 03 Jul 2024 14:10:20
Somehow the word American seems much worse considering the present state of the country.
{Ed002's Note - Qiute, but I could never consider myself a Yank.}
4.) 03 Jul 2024 16:35:55
Frankly not even sure why I ised that term. Grew up in Pennsylvania and spend time in Georgia, Florida, and now Colorado albeit presently visiting family in the land of Califiori (bologna ? )
{Ed002's Note - I was born in WA and was in CA until 23.}
5.) 03 Jul 2024 18:08:07
Americans re-claimed the word during the Civil war and now plenty of them refer to themselves as Yanks. It is not derogatory in any way. Now I call Americans septic tanks which is definitely a derogatory term and well deserved as the dumbest country on the planet.

Ipswich is having a good day. Would love for Brentford to do the same on Wednesday.
1.) 31 Dec 2024 06:22:41
Is there a reason that game is only being played on Wednesday?
2.) 31 Dec 2024 15:21:09
So Arsenal can have as much rest as possible ofcourse?
27 Dec 2024 00:44:52
I thought Gomez quietly had a very good game today. I even noticed him way up the field at times in the first half. He's been a very reliable player for Liverpool.
Very good team performance. Especially in the second half.
A good day in the title chase for Liverpool.
1.) 27 Dec 2024 08:32:37
Agree @dbav, a number of quiet achievers in the team / squad is no bad thing.
2.) 27 Dec 2024 09:02:59
Gomez is currently our longest serving player and only player that was in the squad when Klopp arrived and survived.
Crazy to think he’s only 27.
3.) 27 Dec 2024 10:12:57
It really is such a shame that he had a succession of injuries when he was set to be a regular starter for us and England. Seems like a great lad and has kept his head together really well despite all the set backs.
4.) 27 Dec 2024 13:36:06
There's no doubt that game time has helped him a lot. Increased his confidence and probably Slot's too (in Gomez) . No more being limited to the RB/ LB roles he's been stuck with for most of 2 seasons.
5.) 27 Dec 2024 14:29:32
Gomez has always been a good player
could have been excellent without his injuries
yes, he went through a tough patch of 1 mistake a game and slipped down from the 1st choice vvd partner to backup defender across the backline after his injury
but for the 2 - 3 massive and long term injuries he's had, to still be in the PL and a club like Liverpool, and playing about 20 - 30 games a season, enduring abuse from fans at times, you must have some top tier mentality
i do hope he stays on with us for the rest of his career. not sure how influential he is, how he gets along with other players or is a good role model, but i know he doesn't create trouble and can be called upon to play so many positions in defence, a little milner like if you will
i would imagine any trophy chasing team will want a player like him around, good enough to start game and deputise as needed, good enough to be thrusted in to the deep end should injuries and suspensions emerge.
the only hope is that he somehow gets a goal! he was so close with 2 efforts the other day that were well saved. it doesn't matter if it goes in off his backside, i just want him to score at least once for us.
{Ed001's Note - the other players love him mate. He is very well known as one of the nicest guys in the game.}
6.) 27 Dec 2024 15:31:23
Someone posted a few years ago that he’s suffered with mental health issues also. I really hope he’s had help with that.
26 Dec 2024 14:25:35
Your boys are having a week, ed25!
{Ed025's Note - Punching above our weight i feel dBay, but i will accept that mate..
1.) 26 Dec 2024 23:06:38
Tell you what ed25. I’m glad that game got called off because your in a good moment. You’ve become very hard to beat mate. It’s no fluke Arsenal, Chelsea and City.
{Ed025's Note - hard to beat yes LFC8 but there has to be more to football than a war of attrition every game mate..
2.) 26 Dec 2024 23:34:14
Well keep on punching then Ed025.
26 Dec 2024 17:10:33
Things are lining up well today. We need to take care of business.
10 Dec 2024 19:56:45
I will say that I like this new format for the UCL. I think it's fun overall and nice that we play 8 different teams.
1.) 10 Dec 2024 20:40:21
It might’ve not been as much fun if we hadn’t had the positive experience of winning all our matches. the problem I see is that the group games have gone up from 6 to 8 and if you finish between 9 - 24 the number will f qualifying games goes up from 6 to 10 to qualify for the last 16. I understand why UEFA might think it’s a good idea but I’m not sure it helps to ncrease the number of games the squad play.
2.) 10 Dec 2024 20:53:43
I actually like the new format.
The players wages have increased ten fold (read somewhere the other day Beckham was on 25k a week at Utd) so I can understand why they are growing the comps as more games means more money.
8 CL games against 8 different opposition really appeals to me over playing 3 teams twice that are usually seeded below us.
We’re the only country that has kept 2 cups and I think league cup will be the first to go despite teams using it for squad rotation.
I’m not sure why the league have gotten rid of the winter break as it allowed teams that mini breather.
Either way I’m really enjoying this comp and have watched other games from us.
But like everything some will like it and some won’t.
3.) 10 Dec 2024 20:53:56
Excellent context there, WDW esp. with your first statement. Now I do agree that this format has thrown up some really good upsets like Lille beating RM and Atleti, for ex.
Not sure that would have happened had the old group format been in place. All in all, we can't really say if this frmat is good or bad per se. I propose, let's give it a couple of seasons.
4.) 10 Dec 2024 21:57:16
It’s miles better. We’ll win number 7 this season.
5.) 10 Dec 2024 22:31:50
Sorry I meant to say, "I can't say" and I said, "We can't say" in error.
6.) 10 Dec 2024 22:43:18
I really like the new format ??.
7.) 10 Dec 2024 23:00:38
The other side of this is as Slot says, there appears to be no benefit to topping the group, and therefore, next season they will think carefully about playing the first 11 in all of the matches.
8.) 10 Dec 2024 23:13:19
Well the format has done wonders for us this season and for Villa.
Personally I felt it to be our worst performance under Mr slot but a win is a win.
Let's just hope the winning continues. Hopefully a 3-0 win in our next game just to keep the chasing pack on their toes.
9.) 10 Dec 2024 23:47:31
I think there is an element of people liking it because it’s new and also because we are winning. There’s nothing wrong with that of course but there are costs. The extra games increases the chance of injuries and, through fatigue, lack of for. As a recent example we lost Bradley and Konate in the last five minutes of a match and Grav and VVD as examples were off the pace in the following league match against Newcastle.
All that said, we’re making a shed load of coin.
1. For being in the initial league we get @ € 18.62m
2. For each league win we get € 2.1m
3. For making the last 16 we get € 11m (rising to a max of € 25m if we win it)
4. There is also a pot of € 853m that relates to clubs’ coefficients and broadcast markets. Not a clue how much we’ll get but even at my dumb level of finances an equal share of 853m amongst 32 clubs is € 26.65m
Point 4 aside we are already guaranteed € 42.2m if my very dodgy maths is correct.
10.) 11 Dec 2024 07:17:04
Great points WDW.
As it stands though we haven’t actually played any extra CL games as they come in Jan so I don’t think we can suggest Konate or Bradley’s injuries are down to extra games.
Especially for Bradley as that Real game was only his third start of the season and you did mention injuries happen in contact sport below.
In years gone past we’ve had to do qualifying rounds for the CL so we played more than 6 games then to get into the knock out rounds.
Great points about the financial side though and I imagine just looking at those numbers you have posted the clubs are massively onside for this comp.
Our next two games are technically dead runners but there is also €4.2 million reward riding on them so that’s huge to a club.

Cor WDW, that’s the kind of post Ed002 would have gone to town on, wouldn’t he?
We would have been treated to a full breakdown of every euro earned.
I miss him.
To echo the others I do like the new format.
Personally I wouldn’t have as many teams going into a play off. I think if you finish say 18th in a champions league you should be eliminated.
In the old format these teams would be exiled to the europa league. Not sure whether that was good for that competition or not but I felt it was right that those teams finishing 3rd in the groups would be eliminated.

In my last post I attempted to type ‘loss of form’ rather than ‘loss of for’ ?.

See what you did there, WDW. Lol.

How do we know they aren't closer to signing? Simply because new contracts haven't been announced?
We have no idea what's going on in the negotiations. The press do not either. We'll see what happens.

I had limited matches to watch growing up, usually random Champions League matches on ESPN. I loved watching AC Milan. Was a huge Maldini fan, as well as Nesta and Kaka. Always loved watching Shearer and Bergkamp.

Haha, certainly an abbreviation of my real name. Very much appreciated Ed.

Good piece of business in my opinion.

Why does everyone seem to be okay with Endo being sold after 1 season. I thought he was quite good last season.
If midfielders are sold to make room, sell one that was less important.

I have no idea who might be coming in, haha. If the work is being done, they are doing a good job of keeping it under wraps.
However, I would think there will be a significant change in the squad for next season. While I don't expect all of them to go, I could see any, or all, of Diaz, Jota, Nunez, Elliot, Endo, Tsimikas, Gomez, and Kelleher leaving.
So on top of the CB and LB that were already needed, the team could be looking for 2 or 3 attacking players (maybe Danns gets a shot also), a DCM (I like the link to Stiller I saw recently), and another CB.
I trust Slot to ID the players he wants and hope the team can get them.
Dream signing would be Camavinga and Wirtz, Luka Vuskovic, Hato, and another attacking player.

It means nothing other than that he is tired of answering the question. I wish they'd stop asking it.
I think they are all more annoyed by being asked the questions than the actual negotiations.

Thanks for the write up!

@JK, that's fair, but the squad isn't always like that, and there have been a few in recent memory that may have seen Liverpool as a stepping stone.
Again, I'm likely far too sentimental, but I've never enjoyed fans jumping on a player unless he's showing a lack of desire or commitment. I feel like the tone should be support until they and the club decide to move on.
And part of it is that if things were different, they wouldn't be the same, so there could be an argument to be made that Nunez's performances have been more of a help than a hindrance based on the team's results so far.

I'm not saying this to the OP directly, but that's interesting to hear. I remember in the summer saying the squad needed a lot of reinforcements and an overhaul to compete with the other top clubs. I remember there being a general disappointment and fear of not competing when only 2 signings were made and 1 was sent out on loan.
I think Arne is doing a fantastic job, no matter how the rest of the season goes. I also think the OP would have had a tough time convincing the majority of the posters here that it was a good squad to inherit this past August, haha.
I think it's a good squad. There is a strong foundation with the back line, and Salah up front. I think there was a lot of uncertainty in the midfield, which was alleviated a bit with the emergence of Gravenberch.
I think the biggest thing Arne has done is gain the trust of the squad, and also to inspire the confidence for the players to trust each other. The biggest ingredient for success is the chemistry on the field. They have that right now.
