Benteke is still not officially signed up.after everyone saying he'd be officially presented on Wednesday. Is there a problem Eds? Should we be worried, after what happened last year with Loic Remy? What's the hold-up?

{Ed001's Note - don't worry mate.}

When Brendan's tenure in charge of our great club is finally analysed and assessed by the professional pundits on Sky Sports, Talk Sport etc, they will point to his game Winning percentage and his Gross/Nett spending. They will also focus on silverware or lack of it. That's how they highlight success or failure.

We, as fans, will also look at other matters and judge him by how the squad has changed, almost beyond recognition to that which he inherited. YES, changes were needed and YES certain transfers etc have been unavoidable. But in my opinion, he's got to be held ultimately responsible for where we currently sit in the League table. That's his job - to manage a team to complete and challenge in a highly competitive league. To do that you need winners and leaders. I think he has failed us in this. Only two of his signings look like Winners or Leaders and have come up to Liverpool standard - Coutinho and Sturridge. Other players may be eventually regarded as very good signings, but this will only be down the line from now (e.g. Gomez, Ings etc). The alarming FACT is that Brendan's starting XI is "Bang average" and not good enough to compete with Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Manchester united. A quick look at his results against these teams will show this.

If rumours are correct, FSG may be sounding out a new manager. We can only hope that any appointment is for a Manager who will re-build us again into a team of leaders and winners. I've purposefully not named the players that i feel are not good enough for us. I think it's disrespectful to do that. It's not the players own fault, it's the fella that signs them (Ayre, Gordon, take your pick). Like all of us on here, i just want to see our great team challenge again and i will support the team through thick and thin. YNWA.

REBUILD? Are you having a laugh? Sick to death of that word, rebuild = another 2-3 years of crap football, hundreds of millions spent and and listening to all the whinging on what a poor manager the new guy is. Surely with 2-3 purchases ( as posted here as often as "is klopp the next manager") and a manager with half a desire to be competitive and work with what he has, we could be twice the team we are now.

Spot on, cheshire! The Sky pundits are just there to say what they are told by their bosses and make excuses for why a British manager should be sacked. i BR was a foreign manager, they would have had the knives out for him already. Ask Scolari and AVB. But when it comes to BR, the media just drink his Koolaid and never challenge what he says with facts because he`s a media gift for senseless soundbites that keeps on giving so he`s keeping them in a job. Oliver Holt of the DF dared to write that since LFC was no longer a powerhouse, we should just stick w/ BR cas that`s the best we can get. Can you even believe that load of tripe?

Macca,
welcome back.
Surely now is not the time for everyone to be panicking or speculating over your identity.
We shall just enjoy your input.

Only about half of the players you mentioned were First team players. And you've got to look at what has happened in goal, replacing Pepe Reina with Mignolet, to have a more balanced persepctive of us defensively.

Danny Murphy is a Red, through and through, and it's a sign of your complete ignorance and lack of intelligence to criticise someone who gave his absolute all for the club.
Danny Murphy is a class act, with more integrity that you will ever aspire to, you low-life sloth.
