Good solid comeback from the Reds. Pleased with the collective team effort and Balo starting to play well.

I kinda feel that some of our players are starting to look a little jaded. Moreno, Markovic, Can, Coutinho etc. They've been playing well but their form seems to have dropped a little.

The squad is light due to injuries and I think that Rodgers should rotate as much as possible. I doubt our first team players can play 2-3 games a week until the end of the season without suffering a dip in form. Maybe the fringe players should be given a chance in the EL and FA Cup games. Players such as Lovren, Toure, Enrique, Lambert etc.

On a side note, can't wait to see who we've drawn in the quarterfinal. Preston North End and Middlesborough will be pretty challenging ties!

IllyasRed

1.) Most of those players have made around 25 appearances ( including as subs) in 7 months, that is not a vast amount. If anything keeping consistency is helping the team.

2.) The problem is these fringe players are a world apart from the 12-13 players who start. As we seen yesterday we win games very tightly and these changes can be costly both defensively and going forward (which see to be the case not only with us, this is why City and Chelsea lost their FA cup campaign). Players of a team like Liverpool should be able to play 2 games a week, week in week out. We will have Sterling and Gerrad soon and Baloteli can start games I think so this will give you some flexibility but Enrique, Johnson, Toure, Lambert and Borini and at the moment also Lovern, I would leave on the bench as long as I can, no disrespect to nay of them but at the moment they are not good enough.

3.) Fanobip. I agree with you on all except Lovren.
His two cameo appearances have been just as good as Balotelli's.
He deserves a start soon in my opinion.
I would start him on Thursday but rest him against Southampton.
I could see him having a mare against his former club. But that is just me being superstitious!!

Good win against the Villans. Much better performance than the shambolic one against them at Anfield.

Just got a quick question for you guys. Who do you think should be made vice-captain next season? Hendo will most likely be promoted to Captain when Gerrard leaves so who'll be his replacement?

Sakho is looking more and more assured in defence and has remarkable leadership qualities, having been made captain of PSG at the age of 17 if I'm not wrong.

However, I'm going to go for Lucas, who has been immense in midfield. He may have lost a bit of pace since his injuries under Dalglish but his positioning and reading of the game is top class. Apart from Matic and Schneiderlin, I think we have one of the best defensive mids in the league.

To think abt how he has come when he was labelled a flop when he first arrived at Anfield. He took so long to adapt to the league and couldn't get a game due to us having Gerrard-Alonso-Mascherano in midfield (arguably the best centre mid trio in Europe back then). Now he's such an assured presence in midfield and makes so many key tackles and interceptions effortlessly.

I've been very impressed at how hard he's worked to force his way back into Rodgers' plans recently. Since he came back we have only lost once in 14 games. And that was when he was dropped against Man Utd.

I think he would be a great vice captain, judging by how far he has come. Kinda like Hendo, who was labelled an expensive British flop but now he's unstoppable and captain elect.

On a side note, his exuberant celebration of Lambert's goal was fantastic. It shows his passion and love for the club. Nice to see the lads celebrating in such a manner with the away fans. I really hope we don't sell Lucas to Inter and that he gets promoted to vice captain next season.

Thoughts?

1.) IllyasRed, unfortunately Lucas will not be at the club next season. Brendan has severed him from the club too badly for a way back now. He will stay at the club till the season's end outof respect for LFC and then move to Inter in the summer. Its a shame the club continues to pamper passengers like Allen, Enrique and Johnson while valuable first team players get culled out to make way for some more Brendan boys. Lucas would have made a great VC but our stubborn manager just cannot see sense until its too late.

2.) 18 Jan 2015 12:51:20
Might depend on how Sahko's command of English is developing but could make sense to have a defender as VC. Lallana is the other obvious candidate. Love Lucas but not sure he's the most vocal or natural leader

3.) Actually Lucas is quite vocal and is always organising the defenders and telling players to get into position, under rated, intelligent player.

4.) I loved seeing lucas jump into the crowd on his own too, he seemed so pleased!

5.) Br`s mismanagement of Lucas, Sahko, Suso and even Balo as well as his dithering and complete stupidity and stubborness that cost us half a season, should be sacked for these sins alone and hopefully come this summer, he will be relieved of his post. And to be consistent, I wanted Rafa gone in his final season whether we won games or not so BR is no different, IMO. If Lucas wants to go, he should be applauded for having the patience to deal with such a two-faced manager and having the best interests of LFC at heart.

6.) 19 Jan 2015 08:17:41
Lucas, Sakho and Lallana are all good candidates for me and i wouldn't mind running it on an 'as and when' basis of who fits the bill best per game. However my preferences would probably be:

1. Lucas
2. Lallana
3. Sakho

7.) IF Lucas stays then for me he is the only option. I just doubt whether or not he wil still be here.
