Eds can anyone shed any light on my question?

I remember Benteke being just a monster in his first campaign for villa and since then he has wanted a move but also had two big Injury's to his hip and Achilles.

Has his drop in form the past 2 years been due to sulking or injury's ?

Has he lost any pace? Can he get back to that first season Benteke if be gets his attitude sorted?

I think, Ed002 you will find there are a large number of supporters from all clubs that trash players. I for one, don't agree with it but it isn't 'The Liverpool Way' its English football fans in general. Kind of like me saying its the Ed002 way because you 'trash' Liverpool fans asking a perfectly normal question. Not right is it?

He's a beast for gods sake, he's already firing one in two. That's 20 goals a season, with a few more good players around him can easily make that 25 maybe with a bit of luck 30.

In fairness, ed, the injury question is a fair one, mostly because us fans are not well aware of the different types of injuries and how they impact a player.
From what I've seen, Benteke has recovered well from his injury, and I wouldn't think he has lost any of his physicality. As for the attitude, browsing through the Villa forums I do not see many complaints. He does have dips in form throughout the season, but this is entirely different, and the reason we have a rotational squad. So again, I do not think we will have any problem there.
Let us just hope that the system and the tactics are well sorted for this season, and we might just see a surprising number of goals from Benteke - ultimately, I think it is the diversity of his skills that has won Rogers over, and which might be deciding factor in him establishing himself as a top name, provided the midfield behind him live up to their creative potential which is rather substantial.

Goal scoring ratio isn't a measure of his form tbh.

What I mean by that is in his first season he was incredible and the goals came because of his level of play.

The other 2 seasons seem to be more getting the ball tl him more directly to get the goals.

First season villa played counter attack, direct play etc they played really well but for the past few seasons they seem to have had to play more direct to christian.

I was curious as wether this was because maybe be slowed down through injurys or he wasn't putting himself about as much because of his attitude. Tbh I'm more worried about Torres and his injurys and wondering wether that has happened to benteke.

Maybe on these sites as you will get a lot of keyboard warriors and people who haven't got a clue. I don't come on the banter page a lot due to this but can't imagine its the same at the grounds. I don't agree with bashing players or managers until they have had a chance to prove themselves. Its not the 'Liverpool way' for all fans

The way the moronic questions like this could be avoided is by actually searching and reading the posts. His injuries and apparent sulking has all been covered in great depth over the last few weeks. The fact the original poster has no idea about bentekes form the last few months of the season really shows a total lack of football interest. If I was checking the league table every 6 months and watching 3 games a year i'd probably be asking the same questions.

Goal scoring isn't a measure of form? It's pretty much the 1 major point he is judged as a success or failure on. Who's cares what you classify as form as if they are doing exactly what they are paid for.

But If people took time to read some posts - any posts they would see the eds repeated responses of 'read the posts or try the search engine' as a first point of call. If the eds were to spend all their time actually responding to each and everyone one of these then it wouldn't leave much time or effort to respond to unusual or genuinely valid questions or pride general opinion. That to me is what makes the site valuble, interactive and enjoyable. I'm by no means the ' question police' but if people put so little effort into reading the site surely they can only expect a similar level of response?

In fairness a lot is abuse, but personally don't think it is wrong if you think a player isn't good enough if you explain or debate it as long you don't abuse the player (is a fine line) as is something most people pay good money for - if you paid for food and it was terrible have a right to complain but similarly isn't on the shout or abuse the staff - not saying I'm innocent of it but try my best.

Worry about how he fits in as we don't cross the ball or play it long (not that I believe we should swap to that but think mixing it up is good and is an option he offers - see drogba) but if you ignore him and studge playing together can see how it could work well! Just a toss up to if he fits in against having an out an out striker which i remember nearly everyone complaining about us lacking last season!

As for form, villa have struggled massively over the past 2-3 seasons and imagine that makes thinks a lot harder especially when your the player expected to win every game. Will be pressure on him at Liverpool but will have Milner, Henderson, sturridge, lallana, firmino, coutinho etc who will be expected to win games where at villa they didn't have those other players to rely on. Can argue agbonglahor but never been a big scorer, though produced the odd winner.

Interesting Ed002, I wasn't trolling you by the way I just don't quite understand why the original poster warranted the 'Liverpool fans are this that and what ever' rant as it was a question to do with a previous injury on a player we are signing? previously operating a reasonably successful football site myself, I personally haven't come across the individual issues you have had with Liverpool supporters, that's all I am saying.

now es i'm not having a dig or anything at you or the site as i think this is a great site but i agree with yo that the majority of fans who come on this site are pessimistic, now i don't know the numbers of registered users here or the number of visitors here but the fans here can't surely represent all the fans liverpool have as usual a minority of fans pessimistic attitude is being used to represent the total fan base and might be a bit unfair, but i agree on here they are a cackle of bitches (lol) all complaining and thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. just my two cents from sitting on the splintered fence.

To be fair swish I haven't seen a post were the eds have said the injurys have or haven't affected him. So how do I search that ?

I come on here everyday so I know pretty much all the posts on here, if I ask something its because I don't feel its been addressed previous !!

The sane goes for if 2 weeks ago the eds said something about Benteke, then its fair to be able to ask the same question 2 weeks later to see if there have been any developments.

Granted not with questions that dint have changing outcomes but if its a case of are we going to for reus and the eds say I haven't heard anything then for 2 weeks the papers are blabbering on about it then its fair to come on and see if the eds have hears anything in the 2 weeks since it last got asked

You need to stop acting like a milk monitor on this page though, if you are only here to make yourself feel better by putting people down and trolling then there's no point tbh pal.

I still haven't had an answer foe my question but I don't suppose I will but ill ask again in shorter terns.

Have Betekes 2 major injury's affected him and is he able to get back to the monster from the 12/13 season?

Mestro some guy posted a big summary written by a villa fan a few days ago. Essentially he said he wasn't injury prone and that it hadn't really affected him.

All European has done over the past couple of weeks is try and make more people aware that our midfield is not only too similar but far off being strong enough to take us to dizzy heights.

He mentioned Morgan after Mateo because that ship has sailed and he like me can't believe we targetted every other Southampton player and not Morgan.

Allen, Hendo, Milner, Lucas & can don't take you to the top 3 let alone the league. We will scrap for fourth/fifth. It doesn't matter what is infront or behind unless you have someone like suarez, Messi or Ronaldo. When you don't have that much talent up top then you actually need a midfield and tbh take alonso away from Madrid and there not half the team they were.

I'd prefer reading EG all day than people who just parrot what the eds say. Atleast he has an option and sticks to it.

I think everyone misses the point when referring to agger and skrtel.

Yes they were good.

But so was reina and the midfield whether it be alonso and mash or mash and lucas or just lucas.

Now it is Mignolet behind them and noone in front because we have everyone presses and getting walked out of position because there recovery rate isn't great and that leaves so much space in behind. If you want to play the pressing game then you have to have a minimum - to make sure you don't concede loads - of a solid diamond gk cb cb cdm and they need to be more rigid whilst the rest attack and press

But not having a top class sweeper keeper and a top class dm is why we have all them problems.

Noone can prove me wrong when referring ti Liverpool

Mignolet is god awful and tell me why he is good without saying he had loads of clean sheets

Lucas isn't the player he was

Gerrard was dm in title season or 50 goals conceded season.

I'm tell use all now if you walk busquests, matic, medel or someone at dm and a better goal keeper, we're guaranteed top 3 easy peasy.

It's not about bleeding leaders.

Let's use arsenal as an example, for about 6 seasons it wad they need a leader leader leader sodding leader. They needed a dm. Wow what happens they get ine and has anyone mentioned them needing a leader at that back?

Liverpool need to get a top top dm. Before I get critised for what I'm going to say is this. Lucas was on his way to being world class in his position, I never use to like him as a player - I'll admit it. Then watching him I'm daglishes first full season and wow he was phenomenal, quick, great passing. And then that new injury against Chelsea and I'm sorry but he is not the same player. I was so sorry for him because he had earned all what he was going to get and we really looked good, we battered everyone united, Chelsea & city. Not always winning but deserving too. I even think we had hit the post like a hundred times. Adam, dowbimg were looking good and literally lucas got injured and we didn't get back to that level again.

And nor has lucas. He isn't and won't be that player again, I think it's the biggest crime in the game Injuries because they hit anyone at anytime and if someone didn't deserve it' it was lucas.

As I said thougj you watch if Liverpool get the best dm they can, we will improve ten fold.

Don't get me wrong lucas us still a good player but he's to injury prone nowadays and also stuck at a level.

If wr get a cdm & gk next summer wr are title contenders unfortunately it isn't going to happen this window and frankly it could lose Brendan his job, because they have addressed all the wrong areas.

Cech and carvalho/Medel this would of been better.

I hope it's on thete minds to address this and that Brendan doesn't believe he needs one because we won't achieve anything without ine.

Our midfield is too much of the sane.

You have one of milber and hwrnderson and if you want to play Lucas then you have to have a creator in there.

Lucas, kovacic and henderson/milner

Well that starts looking promising

Where one away in the middle of the park to having a really good midfield. The club identified that and went for maateo but when that didn't come off, did the problem resolve itself or does it still need addressing

That's what gets to me

No points aving a stunning attack, great gk (although we haven't) and a fantastic defence and nothing in the middle.
