Hi Eds not watched as much youth and u23 football this season as i usually do but caught up a bit on youtube last night and see that we seem to have another exiting prospect coming through, Rhian Brewster, now i read on the lfc site he has played a closed game for the first team in front of Klopp where he scored a hattrick and he's working with Steve McManaman, now at the age of 17 (just) playing for the u23 side seems really good sign, but can you tell me how high he is thought of at the club or is his fast development an unexpected good surprise for the club.

{Ed001's Note - he was not seen as anywhere near ready before the season started, so, while highly rated, it is a surprise that he has made such progress this season.}

1.) 20 Apr 2017 14:15:07
Bru, check out how many goals he has scored for the England teams, he has banged in a few already this season .

2.) 20 Apr 2017 14:21:06
will do red and thanks ed.

3.) 20 Apr 2017 14:49:08
He was also released last season or the season before due to some issues he was having. Thankfully he seems to be over them and is progressing very well.

4.) 20 Apr 2017 19:52:33
Jezza I don't believe that's true but happily corrected if wrong, he left Chelsea and came to us as he said he didn't see any way into their first team so turned down a contract and moved on. If true then that's surely a good sign that he striving to get to the top.

hi eds got a question that i would like your opinion on. With Klavan looking a real mess at times and Lovren being inconsistent at best, would it be worth trying Gomez alongside Matip, now i haven't seen much of him since his return from injury and i hope to see him play tonight for the u23 side. from what i've read a lot is expected from gomez in the future and the biggest problem i forsee is that its a new partnership, so really the question is, in the long run is fourth place worth the risk to do this as it could be the pairing for the future.

{Ed001's Note - I said that all along, Gomez would make mistakes, he is young and coming off the back of a long term injury, but he would learn from them and be better in the future. Klavan has made numerous mistakes, but he is not going to improve now, he is passed his best, so there is nothing to gain from him getting experience.}

12 Aug 2016 00:02:22
Everyone seems to be worried about the left back position with Moreno being backed up by Milner. I was thinking about Sunday and from what i have seen everyone is forgetting Klavan can and has played left back in the past. so what you guys think about a back line of, Clyne, Matip, Lovren and Klavan for the Arsenal game this weekend.

1.) 12 Aug 2016 00:47:42
Klavan himself has said that he hasn't played LB for 5-6 years, so I think it is a terrible idea to play him at LB in his first PL game away to Arsenal. I think there is little chance of him playing at LB at anytime during the season bar for emergencies.

2.) 12 Aug 2016 02:54:25
Bruffio, you need to read the posts as Klavan has said that he doesn't play LB anymore neither was he signed to play there. We have a problem at LB and neither Klavan, Milner, Moreno nor Gomez is the solution.

3.) 12 Aug 2016 04:04:49
i think the worry about left back position is justified and i don't see why anyone would argue that.

If milner is seen as first choice left back (assumption, yes) when we have an actual left back, that does suggest that klopp is not happy with the left back situation.

there is still time in the window, but i do feel this has been a better window having seen that we have fixed other holes in the team, albeit we're starting the season with mignolet, because that's a result of an injury to karius.

and even if we start the season without an addition to LB, and stick with Moreno, i hope Moreno would up his game and improve, he is young and if he is willing to fix his problems, he could still turn out to be good, if he is willing to that is. when a door closes another door opens.

4.) 12 Aug 2016 07:21:53
It would be great if Moreno came good but I'm really not convinced he has a great footballing brain. His distribution needs work, his positioning is doubtful and his defending is pretty woeful - flying into tackles he simply can't make. I thought Gomez looked the best option but there you go. Milner will do his best but there is no doubt a specialist would be the preferred option.

5.) 12 Aug 2016 10:25:06
I do have some serious doubts as to if Moreno can improve.
I do see a silver lining in that if Mane is playing then Moreno might resist the urge to go forward and provide width as Mane will be up and down the wing.
Half of Morenos problems are that he's too far forward, cut that out and you will cut out half the mistakes he makes (well being out of position anyway) .

6.) 12 Aug 2016 10:45:36
At the end of last season without a doubt our 2 most problem areas were lb and gk. we have improved the gk and yet have not addressed the lb sotuation (although we tried to get chilwell) . now the fact we have moved on 2 fullbacks (smith sold and Flanagan loan) and just signed the young Spanish lad (who I hear is not yet first team ready) suprised me. so far I have been more than happy with klopps signings (GW I'm not 100% about) but can't believe that Milner if fit is klopps preferred lb starter. the thought of sane, bolassie, hazard or martial etc running at him with pace terrifies me. also regarding klavan he must start at CB. in pre season he's been more than impressive. i was at the Barcelona game and he was immense.

7.) 12 Aug 2016 10:59:21
I don't think young Moreno will let us down on Sunday.
He might just grab us a winning goal with that left foot of his.

8.) 12 Aug 2016 12:00:23
Don't rate Moreno as a defender, but can't help but think that he will be a cracking player.

Where or what position I haven't got a clue.

9.) 12 Aug 2016 12:47:24
In Manchester Davey.

10.) 12 Aug 2016 13:02:20
Moreno will never be a cracking player because in order to do that., you actually have to be smart and show the ability to learn and improve, none of which Moreno is capable of doing based on what we have seen. Whether he comes good or not in the future is irrelevant because as of now, he is incapable of doing that and we don`t have time to wait especially knowing that had the club just paid the 10m for Chilwell, Moreno would be old news right now.

11.) 12 Aug 2016 14:21:47
Back in Spain Davey.

12.) 12 Aug 2016 18:24:23
Well, just have to let the lad play and hope klavan and co can cover if he makes a mistake. Tbf he has had a couple of good games for us and his mistakes do not always lead to goals. So let's be positive and get behind the whole team and get to a flying start. We will win by 3 goals.

Hi as Macca and a few others pre warned us about and Rodgers is gone, for me the biggest problem in my opinion was the playing players out of position but not only that but the stubbornness of leaving them in that position and letting them drown on the park.

Now i read all the comments on whom fans want as manager i really don't care as long as he knows the job what's needed and can inspire coach and be tactically aware of what's going on and doesn't put square blocks in round holes ie can(whom i rate as a mf player) at cb.

We all have what it seems good ideas what Ancellotti and DeBoer brings to the table, so i thought i'd read a bit about Klopp and did find an article where he is compared to Clough. it mentions a time where he slaps a 21 year old defender on the face then hugs him as he leaves the pitch.

oh and btw i also read he has had some sanctions i.e bans for some of his outbursts as well.

so onwards and upwards and let's hope for the stability and success with a good style of football we all crave.

Its amazing how a good signing like Firminio can lift the mood and the optimism of fans, great bit of business and great how we just went out and got the deal done. Now i don't know why and i may be adding numbers up here and getting fantasy answers but i can't shake the feeling that someone else is pulling the strings now (not the dreaded transfer committee) other than rodgers. As one of the eds commented earlier he normally takes the plaudits for what is seen as a successful moves like the Firminio one that would put him into the hearts of the public. Now as i said i'm probably thinking out of the box but what do you guys think of this thought, that Firminio could be a caveat in what could lead to Klopp appointment as in he's picking the targets.
as i said its and out there thought but this is the crazy season after all.
keep up the good work eds.

1.) 24 Jun 2015 11:39:19
Wishful thinking mate, but I believe one of the eds mentioned that there would be constraints on Rodgers as regards to media from now on

2.) 24 Jun 2015 16:05:08
About time the owners stepped in to rid us of his embarassing comments. 18 months too late IMO but glad they have stepped in

I think the problem is Hendersons condition is permanent as it can't be fixed but it can be managed, so realistic these injury periods he as will be a constant threat.

he thinks he's the real deal because of people whispering in his ears and he has probably got his destination worked out, read in a rag that chelsea want him and are wiling sell oscar to fund it, if true give us oscar and cash(lol) or if we can get 50 mil for the prat ill pay his bus fare to go, i reckon ibe is a better all player with more scope anyway

You all blame rodgers but i'm sure he would buy all the players salah, micky, willian etc taht he wanted if he was sole person to pick who to buy and how much to pay but he isn't in charge of thta he identifies who he wants and when told too expensive has to move on to his 2nd and 3rd and even his 4rth choices

so stop making him a scapegoat a few weeks ago when winning you where hailing him

I think your right 87red but its not just ed02 its all the eds you got respect even ed25 (el bluenose himself), i know the posters like bantering with each other but realistically the posters come here to get the eds opinions because they seem to be in the know as they say, so people should quit the moaning just because they dnt like the answer or just look for another site.

ed02 your right about the mentality of the modern day Liverpool fan but on serious not do you know much about the injury is it same one that has been plaguing hendo or is it another.

{Ed002's Note - All the club has said is that he has a bruised foot.}

natural poolie how can you have a go at firminio he may not have been effective upfront as you want against a back 6 which he did get behind a time or two, one of the few who made them runs but the lad run every yard of the pitch harrying and closing down and even found himself in the right back position behind clyne who would have been caught out more if not for him and even although your right about can and matip letting benteke ghost away what that was an example of is the frailty of zonal marking because all you seen in that goal position ways was all and i mean liverpool players marking the space and not attacking the ball or marking men. If your going to have a go understand what your seeing first.

{Ed001's Note - that is not a weakness of the system, it is a weakness of our players. Not attacking the ball and not blocking off runs are the two things we struggle with. That is why we concede. We have no organisation from the keeper or the centre backs, no one is doing their job. If we were man marking the problems would be the same, it is just people would blame the individual players, rather than the system.}

you might be right about the defenders ron but i don't think your right about the keepers as even though we treated and some fans talk rubbish about karius he was really highly thought off and migonlet look ed like a really top keeper at a lowly sunderland maybe its something the club trainers do when they arrive.
