I played golf with a retired freelance journalist who still has his ear to the ground. I asked him about Stirling and as we all know is agent is absolutely terrible altho its just been explained how bad!! One client only type kid, but apparently Stirling never pushed for a move and would have signed and may still possibly sign a new contract. he's been advised to ditch his agent and reconsider options and he's aware playing time will be massively reduced if he moves on. Unfortunately for him Liverpool have all but lost patience with him and won't deal with the agent. If he'd signed when it was offered he'd already be about 2 mill richer now. Keeping him till his contract ends will cost him 9/10mill in lost earnings and bonuses. Appeares Liverpool have well and truly got the upper hand. And will sell

He plays golf with his ear to the ground. Now that's one hell of a good golfer or he's got one hell of a massive ear!

2.) 19 Jun 2015 12:46:03
those splinters from the fence can be sore!!! What your saying if you were Sterling you would have signed the contract for the potential loss of earnings. Perhaps give up golf!!

"may still possibly sign a new contract" and "And will sell"

3.) 19 Jun 2015 12:58:41
Sell him. An offer of £50 million would be too good to turn down. Give QPR their share and then invest the rest in some quality players.

4.) 19 Jun 2015 13:07:30
What does a Scottish town (Stirling) have to do with liverpool and why are we offering it a contract/trying to sell it? ;-)

5.) 19 Jun 2015 15:10:53
Berahino also has him as his agent I think.

6.) 19 Jun 2015 15:49:22
TDH, I keep wondering that too and won't get into the different ways Skrtel's name has been spelt either! You can't blame auto-correct for Raheem's second name, as Sterling is a word, just like Stirling is!

Daily Star are reporting Lucas to inter on loan with a view to a permanent move. Be sad to see him go if it's true

Hi Eds

What do you think are Reinas options come the summer. I see he's making his mouth go again saying it was Liverpool who made the decision not to want him and deciding to put our faith in a new younger keeper - I mean we didn't have much option when he said he wanted to leave because Barca were going to be bidding for him and we needed a replacement.
I for one did like Reina although he became unreliable the last 2 seasons.
Will we keep the 80,000 mouth piece and alternate him and Mignolet? Or could he be used as a make weight to bring in a new player(s)

Cheers

AK

alexkeith

{Ed001's Note - the club wish to sell him, due to his attempts to force a move out of the club. All he is doing is again trying to get a move done.}

Hi eds, with our defence shipping goals at the moment despite looking good on paper. Are there any plans on any of them going? Agger or skyrtl. Pref the latter as he doesn't half do some cuddling and tugging of players. Sakho I imagine is long term and tpure is cover. What are your thoughts. I know llori should be given a chance. Also Any chance of Steve Clarke or Roy Evans coming in as defence coach?

alexkeith

{Ed002's Note - Ilori wants out and will get a loan - a decision will need to be made in the summer. Coates will go in the summer when fit. I suspect one of Agger or Skrtel will go. A decision needs to be taken over a number of youngsters as it seems Rodgers is not keen to play them - perhaps a year on loan and then the club can look at their progress. Cissokho will go back after his loan.}

Rumours today in the paper that Sami Hyypia would be wil to join Rogers' staff and also that Pake Ayrstan (spelling) and Rene Maulenstein could possible come in as number 2.
Pako for me everyday as i feel when he left, Benitez lost it completely

alexkeith

1.) 09 Jun 2015 12:51:38
Pako is more into being head coach/manager nowadays. Going back to being a fitness coach working under a head coach would be a significant backwards step for him even though Liverpool is a bigger club than Maccabi Tel Aviv.

How about boot Rodgers and appoint Pako - at least he has had success as part of the coaching staff at Liverpool and won the treble in Israel.

2.) 09 Jun 2015 13:26:43
Why should he be no2 when he is potentially better than BR and has earned/earning his stripes as an assistant/head coach and to some, the brain behind Rafa`s success here in the early going?

3.) 09 Jun 2015 16:08:04
Brain behind rafas success come on?

He was a good part of what happened, but so were the players. Do you forget who we had back then?

Completely different Liverpool football club now.

As much as everyone dislikes Brendan, we need a coach who is prepared to work with young players and understands them and Brendan is very much one of the best in the business when it comes to it.

4.) 09 Jun 2015 16:27:27
Maxi,
Can you give me a list of the young players that BR has improved if he is such a great and understanding coach. because it looks to me that he ships them out and seems to forget about them. The only reason Ibe was brought back was due to injuries. I really don't see any proof of this great young player coach.

5.) 09 Jun 2015 19:09:26
Maxi, that`s a jokeright? "One of the best in the business". You must be on some kind of medication that you need to get off, ASAP. What has he done actually? Our academy is rotting away with talent yet your "one of the best in the bus" buddy denies them any real chance of getting on the pitch. If he`s that competent, why does he buy youth from other clubs to come take their place and then we find out they are not better than said academy players i.e Manquillo and Marko who are not better than Ibe, wisdom and Kelly (who your boy disgracefully sold for a pittance)or buying Alberto for Suso (who left for nothing as well)? And where is Alberto now? rossiter scores on his debut and you think he can do a job and the boy never sees the field again and now he`s injured. Why is Can getting worse with every game when every man and his dog knows he is not a CB/FB? Can you provide answers to these inconvenient truths I just mentioned? In fact, the only reason you know about how good Flanno could be was that injuries forced his hand to play him vs Everton (where he was outstanding like in the Spurs game)and that the owners refused to give him money in Jan and was ordered to get Ibe back if he wanted a new player. Now, he`s taking credit for their development when had he had his way, Flanno like Hendo before him, would be gone. These are the facts and you are free to prove me wrong with facts instead of baseless narrative or blanket statements. BR might be an expert on things but getting the best out of and giving youth a decent chance ain`t one of them.I don`t dislike BR as a person even tho i trhink he has flaws that he needs to address as a person. I`m just saying that your idea of what he can do don`t rhyme with the facts as we know them to be thru the good work and the info the Eds provide us. If you have more accurate info to disprove them then, we are all ears.

6.) 09 Jun 2015 19:34:18
Good question, Mcgoveb!

15 May 2015 10:43:17
There is a huge lack of acceptability in our situation at the moment and I personally feel its time for attitudes to change and get back looking for optimism.
Steve G is gone - it's done and good luck to the lad he is and will always be a legend. We've lost a lot bigger and better players than him and we're still here.
I personally feel now the Steve G shackles are off it is now up to the players to prove who can step out of his large shadow and come good. next season is the perfect platform for Hendo, Allen, markovic, Couhtinho, Stirling and the likes to show they are big name, big performing players in a big team.
This is a huge opportunity for Rogers now to carve himself out a proper name now the 'old guard' (Carra and Steve G) are gone so he has no legends to please and the power should lie firmly with him. I sincerely hope so anyway. 2nd and 5th in the last 2 seasons isn't bad really. Yes transfers are bad in general, tactically questionable at time but next season will be a change!!

Oh and unlike some of the other posts I do credit Rogers with our 2nd place just like I credit him with losses and bad buys! You can't blame him for the downfalls and not credit him for successes

YNWA

alexkeith

1.) 16 May 2015 02:16:04
The downfalls have become too much to overcome over the three yrs he's been here hence, we need to cut bait.

03 May 2015 16:13:37
Raheem Stirling is a defo out. Could be 50 mill cash or 40 with addon to 55 depending if city or Chelsea go for him.

Ins: Milner, Benteke, depay, cavani (loan to buy)

Ibe and illori to be used more with the latter used as a practice right back to utilise his pace

Expect some change in coaching staff but Rogers will stay.

alexkeith

{Ed002's Note - PSG will not be loaning Cavani; Liverpool have Ilori up for sale. But there remains a decent chance of Milner joining.}

1.) 03 May 2015 16:24:23
We don't need benteke, when do we ever cross? We need a vietto type, fast and agile who can close defenders down fast

{Ed001's Note - I am so glad somebody else has seen that. Benteke is great if you are looking to defend deep and hit it up to him or put the ball into the corners to be whipped in quickly, in other words old fashioned direct long ball footie. Other than that, he struggles. He is technically excellent, but he doesn't use his ability well enough to be any more than a target man with good feet. That is if you forget about the fact that he is as injury prone as Sturridge.}

2.) 03 May 2015 16:43:42
Thanks I needed a good laugh - Cavani?!? Leaving aside his huge wages, he's overrated. More of a United signing to go alongside Veron, Di Maria, Falcao as a huge waste of money.

3.) 03 May 2015 16:52:10
Ed001 or Ed002

Just a though, if we had called a miss on Lallana and Balotelli, surely we could have used those transfer funds and gone for a player like Lacazette? The wages alone spent on Lallana and Balotelli would have been adequate?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about nor what you mean by a "player like Lacazette". Are we going to redo last summer again?}

4.) 03 May 2015 16:56:27
When do we ever buy what we need lurch?

5.) 03 May 2015 17:01:46
Ok Ed002. What I actually meant was use the funds and wages spent on Balotelli and Lallana to sign Lacazette?

Would we have had a chance to get Lacazette with the money made available to Rodgers last summer? What is your opinion Ed002?

{Ed002's Note - No chance - the player made it very clear he had no intention of moving last summer. Lacazette was not an option for Liverpool at that time.}

6.) 03 May 2015 17:15:57
And obviously Ed002, correct me if I am wrong, in LFC's current situation being lead under Rodgers, LFC would still not be an option for Lacazette?

{Ed002's Note - As has been repeatedly explained, Lacazette's position is complex as it involves another player, Fekir. There is interest in him from a number of clubs including Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Arsenal and, in particular PSG and there have been a number of discussions about his future. Manchester City moved on to buy Bony in January and now need to be making space if they are going to continue their interest in Lacazette. With Jovetic and probably Dzeko leaving in the summer nothing will come of it unless Aguero were to also leave. Guy Hillion has been looking at Lacazette but there has been no offer made by Chelsea - but they have seemingly lost out on their identified targets and they are looking for forwards. Much will depend on the future of the other player and what happens in terms of success this season and Champions League qualification. My expectation is that he will stay at Lyon.}

7.) 03 May 2015 17:51:52
I can see the points some of the guys and Ed001 make here against Benteke, injury prone and him being more a box tall strong forwrd and we are not a team that play direct or have a lot of crossing - so we are risking a new (even if surely better) version of Balotli in terms of someone nut suitbale to our style. But the thing is I think that anyway we have to add this element to our game and get wingers who can cross well as well as mroe presenece in the box. If we keep on trying to penetrate from the centre it will be as easy to stop us as it was in many games this year. And we are desperate for players who can head from corners and free kicks - that header from gerrad yesterday was so so rare this season and he is leaving.

Benetke is a beast of a player, with a very good consistent record of scoring in the PL - if we can get him, which I doubt, for me it is a no brainer.

8.) 03 May 2015 19:03:12
It is not. He is made of glass, not consistent enuff, no movement and not good enuff for where we wanna be.

9.) 03 May 2015 20:23:00
Ed001, in your opinion please is Vietto more likely than Ings? I appreciate "most likely" questions are hard to answer but wanted your thoughts please mate. I've been following Veitto & Ings this season since we've been linked and I can't figure who is the better fit in our style of play. Both have scored similar amount of goals this season in struggling sides. As has Origi.

Also with our interest in Depay, is he being looked at as well as a Striker or is he seen as a Striker please?

Appreciate your feedback mate

{Ed001's Note - Vietto would be better, but Ings seems more likely. He was all ready to join in January, Ings I mean, it seems (though I am not convinced he is in any way shape or form what we need, especially lacking the character to even take a penalty for Burnley) he is still keen to join us. I really hope someone at the club has the sense to see that a player who is too cowardly to take a pen in case he misses it and Burnley go down is not what we need. We already struggle when it matters, we don't want to add someone who will hide rather than step up when it matters. If we sign him, then whoever is making the decisions should be sacked for not doing their job. What ever happened to researching a player's personality and character before choosing them?? We are simply not getting transfers correct because we are not doing enough research on them and making sure they are what we need.

Depay is seen as a wide attacker, as he is a wide attacker.}

10.) 04 May 2015 08:07:32
Ok mate cheers for reply. I agree with you that i'm not convinced Ings is exactly what we need But he seems the only one that keeps cropping up.

11.) 04 May 2015 10:31:42
Can't understand anyone wanting to throw cash away at Benteke.
He tries for about 6 games a season. His goal scoring is average. He's basically another Balotelli in my book.
Could be amazing, but not prepared to put the effort in which his talent requires.
Besides that, he doesn't fit our system.

Ings will come because he is cheap.

12.) 04 May 2015 15:31:03
If Ings doesn't want to take pens I'm sure balo will have no issue is taking it off him and burying it :)

06 Feb 2015 07:27:23
Not that I expect anyone to read BR's mind or thoughts in the off season but based on some of the 'bigger' named players Alberto, ilori, Aspas - Does he feel any of them hae done enough to warrant another go in the team?

I do think he's integrated Markovic and Can into the team well and they are showing some real talent.

On a managerial note - Despite starting to veer over to the BR out brigade I do think he's doing better, the team seem more up for it and the results speak for themselves. I just wish he would stop wasting transfer funds. Ballo and Lovren especially this season, Alberto ilori and Aspas last season although i hope they come good

Top job though eds

alexkeith

1.) We all thought Lovren was a good and needed purchase at the time. In situations like that and with Balotelli, where the transfer was a no brainer, it just can't be avoided. Every club will 'waste' money at some point

01 Jan 2015 20:39:26
LA galaxy in for Gerrard on a pre-contract and I hope he goes for it. He is a legend for Liverpool and does not deseerve the grief he is getting from fans. I personally would have not played him till Xmas given how deflated he was aftee finishing 2nd and the world cup. Go for it stevey. Ynwa!! Oh and get this. He'll be loaned out to napoli if benitez is still there next season. Similar to the lampard situation with city. If benitez isn't at napoli, AC Milan it is.
Mirror reporting shaquri from bayern is moving to us. £23mill.

alexkeith

{Ed002's Note - I would think the chances of Gerrard being in Italy next season are about zip.}

I stopped buying Liverpool home shirts when fowler was sold. Gutted. Problem is when a personality of a manager is bigger than the club and they can't see what's best

Totally agree. He should be given game time. Even out of courtesy as Rogers was in charge when he signed him. Shocking man management from his part

We made Torres before moving him on. Yes he was decent at Athletico but become top class at Liverpool. A quote from someone a few days ago.
'Liverpool make great players, they don't buy them'
