Wilson will stay this season and will start tomorrow versus city. Klopp impressed with his attitude and believes he can play central as well as wing. He will wear number 19

Kent will be sold.

lerchy

1.) 03 Aug 2019 15:04:34
We are trying to sell both Wilson and Kent.

2.) 03 Aug 2019 15:09:16
Great player that Wilson, he could be the new Bale.

3.) 03 Aug 2019 15:33:52
Not according to Lerchy were not! God forbid he could be providing us with decent information.

4.) 03 Aug 2019 16:33:14
Glad he's getting a chance, if not though a loan to a prem team would good.

5.) 03 Aug 2019 16:54:41
Let's give Wilson a chance at the bigtime. Nothing wrong with that.

If all else fails the likes of Bournemouth will sign him.

That superb goal he scored in preseason with Lallana jumping all over him, deserves a chance. He knows where the goal is.

Much been said he ain't good enough. All will be told once he features for us in a competitve match.

Will all be down to Klopp.

6.) 03 Aug 2019 18:02:24
I just think he's in the same mould as Shaqiri in terms of his position and technical strenghts. Shaq I feel is the better player though so if 20+ million was offered for him I can't see us turning it down.

7.) 03 Aug 2019 20:49:18
Isnt he lot younger than shaq though so could progress in time more than shaq.

8.) 03 Aug 2019 20:52:30
Great golf player is that beckersglove?

9.) 04 Aug 2019 09:17:24
Firmane, as long as he finds the right club I think he has it in the bag. He’s not my cup of tee but he sure can ping a ball. His mum said that when he was a kid he hit them that hard that every pair of boots she bought him ended up having a hole in one. I’m not sure what she told people that four but it’s a fairway to embarrass the kid and I bet he turned green when he heard. Take care buggy.

10.) 04 Aug 2019 17:11:55
well he didn't even make the bench, so that wasnt even close to accurate lerchy.

11.) 04 Aug 2019 19:46:49
I think Wilson looks decent, he deserves a chance in my opinion, just because the Ed's have their doubts doesn't always mean its correct. After all, there were doubts about VVD and he has been immense.

12.) 04 Aug 2019 19:47:45
19. Suddenly remember it was Downing's number. To be honest, I was excited with that signing.

I've seen some of the goals from Wilson. I actually hoping to see him playing with the team. He is young. Maybe he can improve.

13.) 04 Aug 2019 19:48:02
Sounds like a ploy to push the price up. His work off the ball and positional play does not fit our system. Maybe he'll get a game to advertise himself in the worthless charity shield.

14.) 04 Aug 2019 20:43:19
Haha. Sound info. I thought he played a blinder today.

15.) 04 Aug 2019 22:09:02
Well Lerchy, I guess none of that was true now, was it?

16.) 05 Aug 2019 00:18:32
Told ya lads.

25 Jun 2019 00:45:16
Drop van der berg is apparently closed to being signed. A 17 year old Dutch cb from zwolle. I have a feeling Bruno Fernandes will now be signed especially now Origi looks to be leaving.

lerchy

1.) 25 Jun 2019 07:27:24
Think u jumping the gun a bit there real betis could not afford wages origi is on now and I would love Fernandes but seems he off too man United, the young kid who knows?

2.) 25 Jun 2019 09:55:55
When did origi say he wanted to leave did I miss something?

3.) 25 Jun 2019 09:56:20
I heard he is set to have a medical (Van Der Berg)

4.) 25 Jun 2019 10:00:31
With a name like that he should be a 1st team starter in a couple of months ????.

17 Jun 2019 20:40:08
Hi guys I'm well informed from an excellent source who I have no reason to doubt about two transfers to be completed within the next week or two maximum. Both are Southampton players!

The first is Alex McCarthy with a 7.5 million fee wanted.

The second is Matt target and is valued around 15 million although Liverpool want to do a deal for both players closer to 15 million.

Both could be excellent home grown snips.

lerchy

1.) 17 Jun 2019 20:59:43
Lets see.

As long as it's Southampton I'm alright.

We have more saints than the local temple lol.

2.) 17 Jun 2019 21:05:43
I’ve got the same source lerchy. It’s call every sports news outlet mate. It’s been in the news all day but thanks anyway.

3.) 17 Jun 2019 21:18:01
Is targett decent I haven't seen much of him, hoping he is firstly good defensively and then can get forward if he was too come.

4.) 17 Jun 2019 21:42:52
Cheers for sharing lerchy.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why klopp never just took the southampton job in the first place and had done with it PB.. :)

5.) 17 Jun 2019 22:27:39
I think you picked up the wrong sauce.

6.) 17 Jun 2019 23:08:56
no kidding Ed.

7.) 18 Jun 2019 00:44:11
Nice 1 ed25. Imagine what he could have done at Southampton when they had just bought VVD.

{Ed025's Note - they have had some very good players robbo, their scouting network is very good but it must be frustrating for their supporters when moneybags liverpool just come and pillage all their players mate..

8.) 18 Jun 2019 07:26:08
Ed025, come on now these little partnerships exist all over, not just between Liverpool and Southampton. I mean don't Everton have a history of pillaging Man Utd of its players?
Granted, it's the tosh that they want out but still, Everton have definitely got a load of loyalty points for shopping at Man Utd.

{Ed025's Note - it does happen at other clubs bobby but there is such a thing as overkill, for gods sake let that poor club breathe!, they will be one of the favourites to be relegated next season and its all down to liverpool, its bullying its intrusive and its unfair, get your own scouting network..

9.) 18 Jun 2019 07:31:11
That's why he struggled at Dortmund wasn't it ed except it was bayern.

{Ed025's Note - thats right berg, so you think he would have more decorum mate..

10.) 18 Jun 2019 08:02:23
To be fair, we did give saints about £80m For Lallana, Lambert, Clyne and Lovren so they probably don't mind us shopping there!

11.) 18 Jun 2019 08:15:35
To be fair, klopp has only bought two players from Southampton.

12.) 18 Jun 2019 08:21:13
Yep, its all down to Liverpool, nothing to do with players wanting to play at a higher level or Southampton getting tens of millions for the players earning massive profits off them, haha.

13.) 18 Jun 2019 10:01:26
We sold Ings to them and they could have Clyne and Lallana too.

14.) 18 Jun 2019 10:07:23
Dont mind the idea of Mcarthy as a backup GK, but i would love us to go for Sessegnon as partner to Robertson for the LB position.

15.) 18 Jun 2019 11:44:39
Not exactly top class player purchases are they? City are signing Rodri from Atletico and Cancelo from Juventus, how can Jurgen compete with that, if McCarthy and Targett are our only two signings for this season, expect the gap between Liverpool an City to widen significantly, no offense to both those players but they're mid-table signings.

{Ed001's Note - Robertson has done ok on bridging the gap and he was not even mid-table when he joined.}

16.) 18 Jun 2019 12:21:04
I agree lerchy, that they sound like good deals. Homegrown too.

They may seem underwhelming to some but so did Andy Robertson and Aoc. If klopp and the team have identified them as good targets then i trust in them completely.

Eds, could some deal with Danny Ings be involved?

{Ed001's Note - the Ings deal is done.}

17.) 18 Jun 2019 12:52:52
Thanks for the rumour lerchy.

At the price of 15mill for both decent backups to have. Yeah Targett is a weird one but young enough to make a go of it if he can improve under the set up at lfc.

Maybe a couple of signings like that keeps funds free for a attacking mid or help for the front three usually a position that’s more costly.

18.) 18 Jun 2019 13:01:49
Exactly Robbie mate, targetts first team chances have been limited due to the excellent bertrand. If Klopp thinks it’s a good signing I’m with him, with the transfer fee it’s a low risk gamble plus it adds to the home grown quota.

19.) 18 Jun 2019 13:20:46
Re-bolsters the HG quotient, seems a reasonable amount of money for a couple of decent backups.

20.) 18 Jun 2019 13:32:35
ed001 what's your thoughts on Targett, from the games I see him play last season I don't see the point as I would much rather Milner cover there or even give Adam Lewis a shot as he never looked any thing like good enough for are first team.

{Ed001's Note - I don't want to waste Milner on covering left-back except in desperation. And I am not convinced by Lewis at all. Targett's issue is injuries, he was way ahead of Shaw in youth teams until injury ruled him out as he was set to make his debut. He still struggles to stay fit, that is why I would not be so keen on him.}

21.) 18 Jun 2019 15:07:38
A good homegrown option as backup imo, who won't cost much or expect to start games, yet has the potential to become very good. If our medical team can get Sturridge fit they can get anyone fit!

Lewis is going to go out on loan, he's got a lot to prove so a season in the lower leagues should show whether he's got enough potential for the top or not.

Have the Eds any tid-bits on clubs interested in loaning Liverpool players? The limit has been reduced, right? How many allowed now?
Thanks Eds!

{Ed002's Note - It depends where they are loaned to. I have answered this before.}

22.) 18 Jun 2019 16:43:41
Just an observation about Southampton and Liverpool 'pinching' their best players; I recall reading this a couple of years back. Draw a 50 mile radius from Southampton and you get a lot of sea to the south but you capture 4 million people. Do the same in Liverpool and you capture 8 million people. The academies that Southampton compete with include Bournemouth and Portsmouth and at a real stretch Reading and Brighton. Liverpool compete with Everton, Tranmere, all Greater Manchester clubs, Preston, Blackpool, Crewe, Stoke, etc, etc. This is picking kids for academies not scouting, but I think it is a fair point to make about competition for local talent.

{Ed002's Note - You mean like Lovren, van Dijk and mane?}

23.) 18 Jun 2019 11:53:36
Come on Ed025. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can do anything to you if you don't allow it to happen, in the first place. So Southampton are willing sellers because they allow it to happen. And I think they have been very handsomely compensated with the fee for VVD, to balance out any other previous misgivings. It's the business. We do to Southampton what Barcelona did to us. 😉.

{Ed025's Note - 2 wrongs have never made a right ArAy and i feel for their supporters who pay good money and see their team decimated every season mate..

24.) 18 Jun 2019 17:51:46
I will agree with Targett at this moment ed025, but I feel if Liverpool had not secured Mane and VVD, another top 6 club would have definitely signed them and Southampton would still have been in the same state.

In that case, it would have not only been damaging for Saints but also for us mate.

{Ed025's Note - im sure if everton had signed them 2 then i would certainly not be complaining MH, it must be terribly hard to stomach for the saints fans though mate..

25.) 18 Jun 2019 18:35:49
ed025 is it not like Barcelona signing player of us.

{Ed025's Note - in a way it is grino, but if they took 3/4 of your side then you would really have a case mate..

26.) 18 Jun 2019 19:04:25
I feel for the saints fans, every window must be sickening. But they really need to look at who's running their club and not ours. Football is all about what players you have and who you can buy to strengthen the team, and what youth players you can bring through to save and make money. They can always say no, but when a players heads turned, it's very hard as we have experienced before and will again no doubt. But if saints have a player we want, we should make a fair offer and respect their reply.

{Ed002's Note - You don't want to worry too much about them. Liverpool massively over paid for van Dijk in cash they didn't have and had to borrow. And it was yet another attempt of the Liverpool directors trailing a trail of slime to beg them not to make a complaint about the tapping up. And they have had to do that over another player since.}

27.) 18 Jun 2019 19:15:54
Absolute bull Ed 2. Your smear campaign isn’t working.

{Ed002's Note - What smear campaign - what isn't true there? Every word is true as it always is. Klopp is a cheat - there is no disputing that. Liverpool paid for van Dijk after he had been on strike for 6 moths - a bottom of the pile human being. Liverpool paid £15M pounds more plus enormous agent fees than the club was asking from the non cheating clubs. Liverpool paid in cash with money they borrowed as they did not have it. Moron.}

28.) 18 Jun 2019 20:07:27
Ed001 only just catching up with things on here mate. Do you no if any interest from us in Targett then?

{Ed001's Note - I don't sorry.}

29.) 19 Jun 2019 01:01:19
I live in Southampton, and yes their fans are pretty fed up of us poaching their players.
We're not too popular a club down this way.

30.) 18 Jun 2019 20:16:31
Ed002, FSG stumped up the cash for VVD, am I correct in saying that.

{Ed002's Note - They borrowed the money.}

31.) 19 Jun 2019 07:03:42
Ed25. Just saying, but Klopp only signed 2 Soton players. Just saying. 😅.

{Ed025's Note - your right robbo its not really a klopp issue, its a liverpool one, the saints are struggling to stay afloat as are a lot of teams and the big boys take advantage of that....when i was at school (many many years ago) it was called bullying now its called business..

32.) 19 Jun 2019 07:03:15
I don't get it why borrowing money is a problem, this is how business works antway, of course they will do it. And it paid out, as Van Dijk is a Ballon d'or contender and we won the CL, so good loan right there.

33.) 19 Jun 2019 11:27:04
Klopp does what a lot of managers and players do, tap up their fellow countrymen while away, Madrid and Barcelona are the worse by a mile, if Saints didn't want the money they could say no and so could the player, like it or not Liverpool is a massive step up and any player with ambition would choose the move.

34.) 19 Jun 2019 20:10:00
The way I see it, whether it's Liverpool or not, these players would have probably moved elsewhere cos I don't think we were the only interested club at the time. I don't get the "bullying" thing. To blame their struggles to stay afloat in the league on Liverpool is a little misplaced for me. But, what do I know?

11 Jun 2019 21:56:04
Reports saying Robbo has torn his hamstring, expected to be out for at least 3 months and will miss the start of the season. I hope it's bull.

lerchy

1.) 11 Jun 2019 22:52:49
Nooooo surely not.

2.) 11 Jun 2019 22:56:24
It is bull.

3.) 11 Jun 2019 23:10:14
Fortunately it sounds like Twitter troll rumours but we definitely need full back cover.

4.) 12 Jun 2019 06:33:19
Milner is reliable as a cover i feel.

5.) 12 Jun 2019 07:25:02
Tight hamstring didn’t play as precaution according to Scotland manager.

6.) 12 Jun 2019 08:04:17
A 3 month hamstring is probably not right unless he tore it off the bone.

7.) 12 Jun 2019 15:03:49
Sky are saying he could miss the start of the season in the headline but the article just says he felt he couldn't play.

Click bait headline.

Doesn't sound catastrophic but we'll see.

22 May 2019 10:16:43
Morning lads I've been told by a good friend of mine with connections to the club that's the budget for this season is £25 million plus player sales so I don't see us going big this summer.

Brandt will cost between 50-60million so very unlikely

We could be taking gotze on a two year contract as Klopp wants to loan jones and Woodburn out as he sees them as future first trainers in 2/ 3 seasons so gotze is the perfect stop gap as a lallana replacement although it's believed he will have to take a pay cut as we only want to offer him around 70k pw.

Just passing this on, peace ✌️.

lerchy

1.) 22 May 2019 10:45:29
I mean I appreciate the info but time and again the Ed's have there aren't really set budgets in the traditional sense.

It sounds to me like your friend got his info from a certain journalist. I mean all three of those predictions just seem way off.

2.) 22 May 2019 10:57:54
I can't see that happening Lerchy mate. The owners will back JK as much as they can.

3.) 22 May 2019 13:41:48
Budget of £25 mil?
Linked to gotze?
What is this?
2015?
I heard we’re scouting Arda Turan.

4.) 22 May 2019 14:01:22
Ed02 answered this a couple of weeks ago and said that was not true.

5.) 22 May 2019 14:57:55
Think your mates have read some stories published by the papers who don't know anything either.

6.) 22 May 2019 15:01:38
Guys the OP is just passing on what he’s been told, there’s no need to get so aggressive. If the player sales includes Ingsy and Solanke, plus whatever we get from other player sales such as Kent Migs etc. its not so bad. I don’t think there will be any 50M+ signings this summer, and with Ox coming back, we just need three squad additions - GK, full back cover, and maybe a right footed attacking player. £60-80M May be sufficient.

7.) 22 May 2019 15:52:35
I agree Klopping in the sense that this is a rumours website and most of us are more than happy for a little gossip, but "so aggressive" seems a little dramatic don't you think?

8.) 22 May 2019 15:59:23
It was triggered by a journalist called David Orstein who appears to have a crystal ball.

9.) 22 May 2019 16:12:44
No one’s being aggressive, peeps jus layin down a slab of truth. There’ll be no quarter billion spending, but if one the big dogs leaves the yard then a new puppy will have to be sought. Howevs, the sentiment of a smaller net spend is more likely than the last two seasons, especially if we have spent beyond our means as Bro002 implied. Ya feel me?

10.) 22 May 2019 16:19:39
Brandt went to Dortmund for £24mil. a lot less than the £50-60mil muted above.

11.) 22 May 2019 17:26:29
I'm I missing something or didn't ed02 say the "release clause" or whatever it's called in his contract was unrelated to Liverpool? We wouldn't have gotten him that cheap clearly.
I trust Klopp and his team, if they didn't press for him or whoever, I like to think there's a plan for a better alternative. In this moment, we all should be worrying about how to get past TOT and lift that trophy and not transfers. The campaign have been a blinder and would be nice to add a trophy for the first time since 2012.

12.) 22 May 2019 18:18:09
I am happy for Klopp to improve what he has got so as long as no e of the big hitters leave it's as you were next season. Although I would like to add goals from midfield.

13.) 22 May 2019 18:40:53
me too Lang. Think Kieta and the OX will both get some goals and Firmino should get a few more next year. Just need that one player AM who can cover the front 3. I thought that was Brandt, but many seem to be available. Hope we choose the right one.

14.) 22 May 2019 19:31:25
It’s not just getting goals, we lack a midfielder that can pick a pass in midfield. We’re too lumpen and workmanlike, plus we have no one who is capable of taking a free kick.

15.) 23 May 2019 15:02:07
How do we lack a midfielder that can pick a pass. Hendo, Fab, the Ox, Shaq and Keita are all decent passes and look to move possession into attack.

Looks like lingaard has finally found his level.

lerchy

1.) 26 Jan 2020 16:02:01
Owen Hargreaves has just called Harry Miguire one of the best defenders in the world because he’s scored against Tranmere. I mean come on get a grip!

{Ed047's Note - I spat my tea out when I heard that, what an absolute joke of a co commentator he is. Clueless spoon!

2.) 26 Jan 2020 16:37:35
looks like utd have found there level! still if it keeps ole in the job that's good news for the rest of the premier league.
lets see how many they put past city in midweek.

3.) 26 Jan 2020 16:47:16
Now I know what you mean by Owen Hargreaves Ed047 the man is delusional after that statement.

{Ed047's Note - I don’t think anyone chats as much absolute drivel as that bloke. A complete arse!

4.) 26 Jan 2020 17:32:42
He will have his 'I scored at Prenton Park' t shirts on sale on his Instagram account before the day is out.

5.) 26 Jan 2020 17:58:56
Why wasn't greenwood sent off for throwing a missile into the crowd after he scored?

6.) 26 Jan 2020 18:19:13
Good one kim.

24 Jan 2020 13:33:27
Robbos had a stinker and is vulnerable to pace as shown against gnabry last season. A back up/ rotational left back is certainly needed for next season.

lerchy

1.) 24 Jan 2020 13:58:32
sell him 2 bad games in 2 years useless.

{Ed001's Note - he looks mentally drained to me. Not physically, as he had plenty of running in him but mentally. He has a lot of weight on his shoulders being just about the only left-back, it must be a hell of a pressure on him.}

2.) 24 Jan 2020 13:58:36
Manè usually chases back and he has a brilliant partnership with robbo I didn't see the game but think robbo has earned a critic free dodgy game on his season and put it down to fatigue but agree on the back up required he is only human.

3.) 24 Jan 2020 14:21:51
Agree. Let’s ignore all his other games and how excellent he’s been for us since signing.

4.) 24 Jan 2020 14:44:06
so you want a back up left back who matches Traore and Grabry in pace and knows how to play football?
that FM-editor isn't available in real life.

5.) 24 Jan 2020 14:44:57
Yeah let's re-sign Moreno, he has at least 2 good game a season 😂😂😂.

6.) 24 Jan 2020 16:05:13
Two excellent responces from Ed01 and Berg. Nice to see some thought process involved rather than slating him. The nonsense I've read today about last nights game about how half our team were sh*t is an absolute joke. We win a game, a tough one qt that and still people moan. We are so lucky to be doing wjat we're doing, I've waited 30 years for this, why even contemplate any negativity.

{Ed001's Note - one thing I have noticed this season is not once have we been outplayed by anyone and we have deserved to pick up every point we have got. Players are entitled to the odd bad game after the way we have played this season and last.}

7.) 24 Jan 2020 16:41:24
Talk of selling robbo is ridiculous. If every lb that traore beat was sold there would be no lbs!

I agree with ed01 about the pressure. And one thing I've noticed regarding AR is I can't remember the last time he whipped in a cross that resulted in a goal. I don't really see that as a bad thing. He always looks to play mane in.

Wolves wdre decent and had a bigger purple patch than any team since city (against us) but over 90 minutes we were the better team.

8.) 24 Jan 2020 17:08:45
Is very right Ed mate
I think we've been absolutely phenomenal this last 12 months, an absolute joy to watch. Can't and won't win 5 nil every week, but then we don't lose or draw every other. It feels like a dynasty is being built and I for one am enjoying every single second of it
As ever thanks for everything Ed's, effing love this site I do.

{Ed001's Note - I am just loving the ride, but can't help wondering when it will all go wrong!}

9.) 24 Jan 2020 18:12:22
In terms of the media it will all go wrong the day we lose.

I really think City will be there again next season, with laporte back in the side. That'll be the ultimate test, for me.

We will more than likely win it this year and if we can do it again next year then klopp will have put us back on the perch and set the foundations for a long period of dominance.

10.) 24 Jan 2020 18:26:57
Saying he had a stinker isn’t exactly slating him and yes he’s suspect defensively. Did you not see klopp screaming at him most of the match?

So if robbo gets injured next season what do we do? Milner will be a year older and slower and larouci is a kid.

11.) 24 Jan 2020 18:52:56
I reckon milner would've known how to slow traore up.

{Ed025's Note - yeah, throw his pension book at him.. :)

12.) 24 Jan 2020 20:03:30
Ed1 - the only way it can go wrong is like 4 or 5 games without a win. I dread the next time we lose as it'll bring out the trolls!

Regards roboo, he does look like he's hanging in a bit. I also just think we didn't set-up very well for Adama. Left in space, little tracking back to support robot and often just one defender shadowing him.

{Ed001's Note - I always hate going on here when the team loses, though I am beginning to forget what it feels like...

I though Gini spent a lot of the time covering when he was on that side, the problems came in the second half with the change to what was in effect 4-4-2. Ox offered no help at all. I love Ox, but he did not do enough to protect Robbo.}

13.) 24 Jan 2020 20:18:58
Really? Grow up.

04 Dec 2019 21:57:37
A question for Ed's And posters. Is Jordan Henderson world class?

lerchy

{Ed002's Note - No. There are only a squadful of world class players around the world. If a World Class international side were allowed to be picked for the World Cup - there are 25 players and that would be it. Liverpool supporters with little or no grasp of reality think all of the players are world class.}

1.) 04 Dec 2019 22:26:50
Henderson no. mane on the other hand.

2.) 04 Dec 2019 22:29:20
Vvd Alisson mane are all world class, probably salah bobby Trent and Robbo too.

3.) 04 Dec 2019 22:14:56
Can't say fairer than that ed 😂. But no he is not world class. Very good player and great character but not world class.

4.) 04 Dec 2019 22:44:30
Mane and Van Dijk are the 2 world class players at Liverpool as they would walk into any team in the world. As good as Henderson is for Liverpool, it is fair to say that he would not make it into a world class midfield.

5.) 04 Dec 2019 22:46:39
On ability not even close. Tell you what though, if I had a club I'd want him as my captain!

6.) 04 Dec 2019 22:51:03
Top class mate. Who cares about anything else.

7.) 04 Dec 2019 23:02:17
It all depends on your definition of ‘world class’. By the Ed’s definition, the 26th best player in the world isn't world class.
Personally, id say any player who consistently shines above and beyond his teammates in a high-level team would be world class but its a subjective term.

{Ed0666's Note - in that case Would you say Tammy Abraham is world class Virgil?

8.) 04 Dec 2019 23:13:56
I personally quantify the term 'world class' as being in the top 10 players in your position of the pitch. Therefore, I believe undoubtedly Alisson, VVD, Trent, Robbo, Fabinho and the front 3 are all world class.

9.) 04 Dec 2019 23:18:14
Opened up a can of worms here. In my optimism he is an elite level player say what top 300? His passing the last two seasons has actually been world class although he obviously isn’t multi talented his hard work and endeavour i undoubtedly a world class attribute. He wouldn’t be where he is otherwise and I’m really happy to see his hard work pay off. Good shout Brendan.

10.) 04 Dec 2019 23:19:12
No, 666, by ‘consistently’ i meant a few seasons rather than a few matches.

{Ed0666's Note - okey dokey Smokey

11.) 04 Dec 2019 23:24:02
If Tammy Abraham does what he’s doing for the next 4 years then yes he’s world class. You can’t however, compare Tammy Abraham to Hendo as Hendo has done it it since 2013 whereas Abraham has done it for 3 months.
Not a great comparison there Ed666.

{Ed0666's Note - Virgil said and I quote ‘id say any player who consistently shines above and beyond his teammates in a high-level team would be world class but its a subjective term’ So by Virgils logic that would mean Tammy Abraham no?

12.) 04 Dec 2019 23:25:04
77 you are mistaking and fell right into Ed’s trap. That’s why I am such a big ed002 fan. Some people make it way too easy for him/ her.

13.) 05 Dec 2019 00:49:10
No he isn’t. Bobby is world class . Vvd Is world class . Mane is ok maybe world class. Allison is supposedly the best keeper in the world but doesn’t do much more than most keepers . But Hendo is nowhere near.

14.) 05 Dec 2019 01:07:33
Consistently Ed. Is 3 months consistent? Not in my book.
Balotelli was good for 3 months. I’m not sure when but I’m sure he must’ve been at some point.

{Ed0666's Note - Consistent is subjective mate. My wife thinks more than once is consistent

15.) 05 Dec 2019 01:10:09
Alisson doesn’t do more than most keepers? He makes what most keepers have massive problems with look very easy. I suggest you look again and come back with a proper statement.

16.) 05 Dec 2019 02:56:47
I say he is. How many teams would he not walk into? 3/ 4 maybe. His work rate, his passing anx his understanding of the game are all world class. When he comes off the bench I breathe a sigh of relief.

It's weird. Everyone says trent vvd and robbo and Alison are world class (I agree BTW) but they haven't kept a clean sheet for god knows how long. Look at trent's intelligence too. Most players would have slotted on lallana tonight (who would have dragged a shot wide on his right foot, probably) but instead he dinks a pass to sadio who slots it home. What a player. definitely World class.

If hendo picks up the league once or twice and maybe a cup or two. He will go down as World class imho.

17.) 05 Dec 2019 08:46:45
Trophies should have no bearing on whether a player is world class though, Robbie. Winning cups signifies a great team not a great individual.

18.) 05 Dec 2019 09:40:32
Ok let's settle the matter, he's a world class captain.

19.) 05 Dec 2019 10:52:27
You can pick a team of so-called world-class players but I'm not sure they'd beat the best teams out there (if you're not allowed any of their players) . "World-Class" is an over-utilized phrase that has little meaning unless you take it to mean that the individual in question would make a difference to every team out there. Henderson would not do that, BUT he makes a fantastic difference to us and how our team performs. I'll take that all day long.

20.) 05 Dec 2019 12:55:43
If you feel good for labelling a player world class that's fine but I honestly don't see the point. What matters in the moment is we keep winning games and lift that trophy in front of the world stage.

The team itself have shown incredible discipline winning back to back games and deserve the biggest award in England to recognise what they've put in.

Certainly there are players of ours (your choice here) who affect games more than other teammates but what does the world class tag really add?

Keep believing game by game and sing in the stands; trophies are getting closer and closer!

12 Sep 2019 19:14:51
Hellos Ed's, what do you make of Keane and Neville's comments on pints cost leagues? Neville basically names a reel of ex Liverpool players of the 90s spice boy era. Fowler, ruddock, mcateer etc all loved a point but individually were possibly better than united players bar a few. Obviously Fowler was better than any striker united had in the 90s so was this drinking culture a major reason of us falling so short during them times?

lerchy

{Ed001's Note - yes. It was a huge part of the problem.}

1.) 12 Sep 2019 21:07:54
It was a big problem Lerchy, plus the fact that the owners at the time held us back big time, not only in transfers but the drive to succeed commercially off the field.

There’s lots of comments thrown around about Liverpool buying success at the moment, if the club had been more astute back then, our trophy cabinet would be even more envious to likes of Chelsea and Man City.

2.) 12 Sep 2019 21:15:50
That group we had arrived at exactly the wrong time. They'd have won the league had they been around in the 80s because everyone was on the piss, and had they arrived in 2000s instead of the 90s, the drinking culture would've been weeded out or managed at an early stage and they'd have been more professional during their peak years.

Still, they got damn close a couple of times and some of the group should've been kept together longer. Rather than ripping the whole lot up just to get further away from the league leaders but call it a success instead of a failure because of the expansion of the Champions League.

I wonder what would've happened had we finished 2nd instead of 4th in 96/ 97 and had those lads in the CL?

3.) 12 Sep 2019 23:43:02
Whatever way people try to sugar coat it, Fowler ruined his own career and we as a club suffered in the process . I love Roy Evans, he is a very decent man and a good coach, but he should 've been more assertive or asked for help earlier . probably Robbie would've had a much longer career and united would've had fewer trophies.

{Ed001's Note - you really have no idea. This is tabloid nonsense. You know nothing about the time.}

4.) 13 Sep 2019 10:39:08
ED001: I know a lot about that time in particular having had a close relative working in the club on the ground. but more than happy for you to educate me . which bit did I get wrong.

{Ed001's Note - Fowler never ruined his own career, he had injuries which did that.

Evans never asked for help, the only thing he asked for where signings and was usually not given the ones he asked for.

The only thing you got right was Evans should have been more assertive, but he was never allowed to assert himself by Moores, who was the main problem at the club. It was Moores who encouraged the culture at the club, as he thought he was one of the 'lads'.}

5.) 13 Sep 2019 18:49:26
I do like Jason Mcateer's response to Roy Keane.

"I'd rather have a couple of mates than a couple of medals. You can't go out for a couple of pints with your medals".

26 Jun 2019 18:43:29
Apparently nabys been injured on international duty, does anybody know anymore?

lerchy

{Ed002's Note - You mean the bit part player with questionable Work Permit status with a bruise on his shin?}

1.) 26 Jun 2019 18:56:52
Doubt he was ever truly fit and rushed back, hopefully he recovers for a full preseason and proves he’s more than a bit part player!

{Ed002's Note - And gets his Work Permit sorted out.}

2.) 26 Jun 2019 19:51:29
How is he able to play without a work permit?

{Ed002's Note - He is not.}

3.) 26 Jun 2019 20:07:58
So the club played him illegally last season then?

{Ed002's Note - You appear to be making stuff up. Just forget it.}

4.) 26 Jun 2019 20:11:28
Please correct me if any of this is wrong Ed002.

But I read an article recently that concerned some potential upcoming issues with Keita's work permit, primarily with regards to the number of games he played. Assurances were given over the percentage of first team games he would play and he is well short of that. Liverpool are likely to say that the player was injured for the vast majority of the time he wasn't playing, and this may be enough to convince the authorities. However further issues may arise if he continues to not play next season as the excuse that he is injured will not wash forever unless his injury is 100% genuine.

Like I said. Please correct me if any of this is wrong, I do not profess to be an expert at all.

All the best.

{Ed002's Note - The issue is he only has a T2 permit and needs to pass the English exam.}

5.) 26 Jun 2019 20:21:48
Hmmmmmm interesting so if it went against him wat would outcome be, sold, loaned out contract terminated?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has asked for an extension.}

6.) 26 Jun 2019 20:40:32
Wasn't making stuff up Ed. Was just trying to figure out how he played if his work permit was questionable as you said. Genuinely didn't know a person had to pass an English exam. For some reason I'd assumed in a multi cultural environment like football that this would not apply. Every day is a school day.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody has said it is “questionable” - certainly not me.}

7.) 26 Jun 2019 20:46:12
Seems about right for this country. Lots of people can't speak English yet are allowed to remain, but we'll kick out one that pays a hefty amount of tax.

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}

8.) 26 Jun 2019 21:00:03
Your reply to the original post "the bit part player with questionable work permit status and a bruise on his shin". Though I do agree with the part that he should be able to speak the lingo. It should be a requirement before a permit is granted.

{Ed002's Note - This is why the rules are as they are.}

9.) 26 Jun 2019 21:08:32
It’s a wonder Stevie Gerrard was never made to take an English speaking exam. ????.

10.) 26 Jun 2019 21:11:59
Ridiculous too given the amount of down time he has that he couldn't learn the language. My 10 year old speaks French reasonably well from 15 minutes a day on an app on his iPad.

{Ed002's Note - He has had two years - but then again he never learned German properly either.}

11.) 26 Jun 2019 21:23:45
Arrogance and laziness of some footballers is astounding. Had a full year knowing he was going to England to at least be passive in the language. From reading what Perez says about Bale at Madrid he hasn't learned Spanish yet. I personally find that astounding that after 6 years a person wouldn't be fluent.

{Ed002's Note - It is true about Bale as well.}

12.) 26 Jun 2019 21:29:43
Thanks for the replies mate.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

13.) 26 Jun 2019 22:39:06
It shows a little disrespect to your team mates and fans. Its shows your not that bothered about mixing in for me. When you look how some foreign players go out there way, proves the fans mean something to them. Kompany at city looked a great captain in so many ways. And left them a true legend.

14.) 26 Jun 2019 23:34:31
To be fair, it may be that he's really just a bit, erm, thick?

15.) 26 Jun 2019 23:46:19
Also bobby firmino has been here 3 years no english an no sign of any .

16.) 27 Jun 2019 00:21:13
Even a thick guy with two years practise could learn basic English with enough motivation.

17.) 27 Jun 2019 06:26:47
Hailstones iirc bobby understands English very well, it’s just when speaking he has such an powerful accent nobody can understand him.

18.) 27 Jun 2019 08:07:07
Thanks for explaining that.

19.) 27 Jun 2019 08:10:48
Bobby’s English speaking isn’t fantastic but then again he got an automatic work permit so it’s not imperative that he has a passable level (which he does) and can’t lose his right to play.

You’d think that alone would put a rocket up Naby’s backside. I had hoped he would grow out of his carefree attitude when getting a shot in the big league but it doesn’t look like it. or he is just plain stupid but even then the club would help him over the line.

{Ed002's Note - What is an "automatic work permit"? He has to meet the same criteria as anyone else.}

20.) 27 Jun 2019 10:22:02
Probably my ignorance but I remember some question over his permit not being granted initially due to new criteria in 2015 around a top-10 FIFA-ranked national playing in 30 per cent of their games in the past two years?

Iirc the confederations cup took him over this level or similar. I assumed that if you fit that criteria you are automatically granted a permit without the additional requirements (I. e language tests), I guess from your reply that I am wrong and they apply to all players?

{Ed002's Note - No, you are not correct at all.}

21.) 27 Jun 2019 11:03:03
It wouldn’t be the first time and most definitely won’t be the last. That’s why I am here to learn.

{Ed002's Note - No problem.}

22.) 27 Jun 2019 12:38:21
Love it Becker! ????.

23.) 27 Jun 2019 13:59:35
He'll be alright. Will have a massive season. We will see the player we saw flashes of, and he's going to rock.

He will be leaving and January but the looks of it. Auba was sold quickly after messing around and he’s been late for the team meeting for the Barcelona game as well as a few other misdemeanours. One thing I know for certain is he ain’t joining us.
