What Curtis Davies had to say about us:

"They didn't give us a chance to breathe. "

"Arsenal are a very good passing team, but a lot of their stuff is in front of you. "

"Nice little passes. Liverpool have that mix of nice little passes and then people who will run and run at you and beat you as well like Mane and Coutinho. "

Davies was also impressed by Liverpool's ruthlessness. Leading 3-0 after 36 minutes, against 10-men, they refused to take their foot off the pedal.

He added: "Last week against Arsenal, we had 10 men but it was a different performance.

"We were good. We kept hold of the ball but Liverpool, with their pressing game, they weren't going to be satisfied with 3-0. They wanted 6, 7, 8. That is the difference. Arsenal were like, 'We will sit, we will let them have the ball and then we will have it for another five minutes'.

"But Liverpool didn't give you a chance to breathe to be honest.

"It is hard to lay a glove on anyone. When there is so much inter-changing you cannot put your mark on one person. It is tough to make a tackle. One second Mane will be in that hole, then Lallana and then Coutinho.

"There is a lot of interchange, quick football and with the full backs playing like wingers it becomes very difficult because you end up with backs against the wall.

"They play with Henderson and the two centre-halves at the back and the rest can go where-ever they want. That is not an ill-disciplined thing, that is organised. "

"When we went down to 10 men then, if I am being honest, as a Liverpool I would be thinking, 'We can give them a hiding. Let's be ruthless. '

"And they were ruthless. ".

Love reading this kind of stuff. It's does seam as if burnley was a blip, and it wasn't just due to mane not being there. He is not the only one who runs behind.

Everything we did that day was in front of vurnley.

Long may this form continue.

Credit to Davies for his honesty. He didn`t say what the rest of us couldn`t see. We were great but most importantly, the early goal was the key. Hull came into the game to frustrate us. As soon as the goal went in, their game plan went out the window. That is the point with playing a lesser team that parks the bus. You need that early goal. As soon as that goes in, then you can play your game but at the same time, always remain patient and concentrated especially at the back. On to Swansea and we`d better not let up in our focus and our preparation as they will be hard nuts to crack as City found out this weekend.

How it should be, never give them a chance to breath, let alone get comfortable on the ball or even score a consolation goal, means next time they play us they will know they have absolutely no chance to string a few passes together and will go into the game already beat.
I belive sometimes the performance is as important as the result, all very well getting 3 points but completely dominant performances like that build up our reputation, teams will play us expecting to lose, under Brendan other teams always belived they could nick a point and never really gave up trying and often did nick a point or more.
I'm loving heavy metal football this season :)

I don't think hull parked the bus like burnley did. We have to play a super defensive team that parks the bus in order to prove we can beat them. If we beat the likes of west brom, crystal palace etc who really park the bus and try to nick goals through set peices or the odd counter like burnley did, then we can say we overcame teams that parked the bus.

Burnley are strong defensively and well organised and were a new team to Klopp.
They got an early goal and that set them up. We lost confidence and the rest is history. It was always one of those banana skins, there will be others, but not many.

Well we conceded two stupid goals against Burnley. And takes the demon out of us. If it were our day it could have been 5-2 really. We couldn't just hit the target. More than credit to Burnley who did what was expected of them it was us who shot ourselves in the foot conceding two soft goals.

We what down in 2 mins agaist burnley and shooting from 35 yards out . Sturridge playing on the wind did not help . Matip was not playing the new gk was not . We can forget the bunker game boys.

Good luck to the lad.

2.) 12 Jul 2016 16:18:24
Best of luck to him. If he keeps his head down and works hard I have no doubt that he will develop into a full international standard player. Let's hope he causes all sorts of problems for the defence of our top 4 rivals next season!

Red Sandman.

3.) 12 Jul 2016 17:04:10
If true I sincerely hope he does extremely well and becomes a massive star.

4.) 12 Jul 2016 18:42:50
Apparently we've actually implemented both a sell-on and buy-back clause. Think that is a great idea personally as he could well still blossom into the player we all hoped for.

5.) 12 Jul 2016 19:47:20
He was driving towards Bournemouth but forgot to turn as he can only go in one direction so **** knows where he is.

Agger has decided to retire.

Wish him all the best in his retirement. Be that in TV or coaching, or on a yacht in the Caribbean. He earned my unconditional love and respect.

As your knuckles say, YNWA!

Think all teams in the draw have there cons:

shakhtar with all the travel
Sevilla are cup specialists
Villarreal 4th in the leg, great at home

but after last night i fancy us against anyone on our day.

JayDublin

{Ed002's Note - It is no big deal travelling to the Ukraine. Where do you think it is? The distance from Liverpool to Lviv won't be much different from Seville.

1.) 15 Apr 2016 15:22:39
Hence why we only play teams in Europe.

2.) 15 Apr 2016 15:26:10
i stand corrected, thought lviv was eastern ukraine

Ed002 - geography genius :)

Wish we got shakhtar now.

{Ed002's Note - For a while I thought you didn't know where Liverpool was.}

3.) 15 Apr 2016 15:31:05
everybody knows its in azerbaijan :)

4.) 16 Apr 2016 01:43:52
Hold on. Why do Donetsk play in Lviv?

Donetsk is about 1200km further than Seville btw.

{Ed002's Note - I truly despair sometimes.}

Some matches would have to be in the north too . Both leagues need to join forces to insure the future of club football on this island . Rugby seems to be doing just fine . Hopefully we host the 2023 World Cup.

Players are allowed give there opinions on other players, I'm sure the question was about Gotze signing and how he'd fit in the team, don't see anything wrong with that, however if he said he spoke to Gotze and advised him to come it would start to raise suspicions about tapping up. Just like Gerrards comments.

JayDublin

{Ed002's Note - There is no need to "raise suspicions about tapping up" - the situation is clearly understood.}
