Is there any truth in the rumours that benefica want to take manquillo on loan?
And eds, do you rate him personally?

Thanks in advance.

akki_red

{Ed001's Note - there have been a few clubs interested in taking him, not sure if Benfica are one though. Personally I do not rate him, he is big, strong and quick, technically good on the ball, but he has no positional sense, his crossing is poor, he gets caught wrong side of his man constantly, lacks concentration which means he just wanders around not thinking about what is going on around him and lacks any kind of defensive anticipation, which is why he is always chasing back wrong side and never actually getting near. While the modern full back tends to be more about attack, usually they at least anticipate the need to get back when the ball is lost, so they are already moving when the ball goes into their defensive area. Manquillo is usually caught out by it and so loses time reacting and breaking into a run which costs the team badly.}

Pretty much a perfect analysis. Thank you!

2.) 24 Jun 2015 13:30:21
I heard it was markovic they were interested in on loan

3.) 24 Jun 2015 17:08:00
Can Liverpool loan him out and then still sign him if he turns out better? Or can you not loan a loanee?

{Ed002's Note - With the agreement of his club, yes.}

4.) 25 Jun 2015 00:08:02
Kind of like Moreno for most of the season IMO.

Hi ed001,

Who among the youngsters who played in the match against west ham impressed you the most?
Do you see any of them being here for the long term?

Appreciate your efforts.

akki_red

{Ed001's Note - Brannagan was the one who impressed me the most, he was very good in open play and delivered the best dead balls I have seen in years from a Liverpool player. We have been crying out for some good delivery from them, so his ability could be very useful. It is really up to them, but I do expect the likes of Ibe, Brannagan, Stewart and Smith I expect to have a couple of years yet to impress and force their way into the side.}

1.) 01 Feb 2016 04:21:14
What do you think of Ojo ed. He has looked great recently. I think he could be better then Ibe if given the chance.

{Ed001's Note - Ibe was doing exactly the same when he was breaking through as well. They are both of a similar potential, they both need careful nurturing and Ojo will suffer a similar slump in the future. Every player has down moments, even Messi has had poor seasons. Maradona struggled at times too when he was younger. We need to stop giving up on a youngster because they hit a wall in their development and give them time and good coaching to help them through it. Ojo, like Ibe, can be as good as he wants to be, it is really up to the club to get the most from their obvious talent.}

2.) 01 Feb 2016 06:07:40
Wow. Such a positive response from Ed001 regarding Brannagan. I remember you didn't look really impressed towards Brannagan a couple of weeks ago.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't then, he just did enough that time to deserve another shot, but not enough to stand out. This weekend he delivered quality from set pieces and played some nice passes which made him stand out. We just need to get players attacking the balls played in now.}

3.) 01 Feb 2016 08:04:16
Players that can shoot would be nice too.

4.) 01 Feb 2016 08:32:56
Have to agree with ed there. I would say that I think Teixera probably isn't going to progress further with us. He hasn't really stood out in the recent games for us, not as much as you would want him to. Maybe if he was a couple years younger, but he's 23 now. I feel sorry for him. His past couple years have been badly mismanaged. I do think the best for him is to get himself a team where he is going to get regular play. He just isn't going to get that with us now, and neither should he.

{Ed001's Note - you do not agree with me if you think that. Teixeira has massive potential yet to be unlocked, he just needs to make up time form his injuries. 23 is not done or even close to it. He just needs to play now.}

5.) 01 Feb 2016 08:46:27
I agree with your previous comments, none of which mention Teixera. As it happens, I also think he has potential and I also think 23 is not "done". I just don't see how he is going to be able to force his way through into consistant first team reckoning. I really wanted him to show more in his recent first team forays and he just hasn't for one reason or another. I feel he has done well, but not enough to push his way in.

{Ed001's Note - got you, I disagree, I think he has shown enough to deserve more chances.}

6.) 01 Feb 2016 08:58:58
Teixeira seems to score or assist almost every time he plays for the 1st team (pre-season included) .

{Ed001's Note - he was Brighton's second highest scorer last season.}

7.) 01 Feb 2016 06:32:33
Stewart was outstanding to me. That was the first time I saw a composed deep midfielder. absolute quality on the ball. There was an instance when he receive the ball from
The center back and turn it around and move forward. Brilliant. All he need to raise his passing skills. He would need to pick the players ahead of him.
Reading of the game.

8.) 01 Feb 2016 11:37:33
I think it's hard for Ojo as ibe isn't a guaranteed starter, and needs playing to develop, as, obviously does Ojo. But playing in the same position, so basically one of two places in the team, which coutinho will occupy too, it'll be hard to give him time to impress.
Branagan and Stewart are capable of playing with say hendo and Lucas/ can in league games, this will give them the best experience, I've been very impressed with Stewart, especially as no one was talking about Him barely at all before the Exeter game.

9.) 01 Feb 2016 15:30:08
i think you could put ibe, ojo on either wing. I think Ojo looks a little technically better.

I think both lads are quality. Ibe gets unfair stick i think at times, people forget he's still only 20.

for 20 i think he's doing pretty well. especially considering last season he was played mainly as a wingback.

he can shoot with both feet. I think that is down to JK though, he's looked better on his left in recent weeks. and also is harder to defend as in the past he used to go outside all the time but drifts in a lot more now!

Can't wait to see Ojo start a game though. Thought he looked good coming on against the hammers and the goal against exeter was class!

hi eds,

Are there any plans for teixiera?

Do you think he will be able to make it in the first team in coming months?

Thank you for all your crucial updates and tireless work!

akki_red

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, the plans are not fixed, he has the rest of the season to sort out his future. It is up to him, he has the talent to be a first team regular, but he has to convince Klopp he is ready. Personally I love him and think he deserves a shot, but I don't believe Klopp rates him as highly as I do and I think, sadly, he is going to struggle to make a go of it with us. It really is up to him though, he will get a few more chances, but he needs to take them.}

1.) 21 Jan 2016 08:24:52
Thanks ed001, insightful as always.

Whom did you like yesterday? Branngan?

{Ed001's Note - Smith was excellent in the first half, Flanno has to get the award for best player just because he slotted in like he had never been away. If he gets any better Cafu will be known as the Brazilian Flanagan....}

2.) 21 Jan 2016 08:27:43
hahahaha. good one ed001.

thanks again!

have a good day ahead!

3.) 21 Jan 2016 08:32:33
Ed, do you know what it is that is keeping Lallana ahead of Teixeira in the pecking order? Because Lallana contributes virtually nothing apart from hard work to make himself stand out as a clear first choice, and I'm curious as to why Klopp's not willing to take a risk on Teixeira, and see if he can muster up any better attacking contribution that is beyond Lallana's capabilities.

{Ed001's Note - hard work is its own reward they say mate, and it is certainly rewarding Lallana, as it is his work rate that is keeping him in amongst the first choices. It is up to Teixeira and others to match the work rate and then their better ability can take them into the team.}

4.) 21 Jan 2016 09:25:54
To be honest ed01 it's a bit of a joke that Tex and co are not getting more game time when the likes of lallana and Milner get started, I know there young, and are lacking the experience and fitness of the senior players but they show a hell of a lot more heart. They also carry more threat in front of goal, Ojo and Tex's finishes are far better than what we have seen all season from some of our seniors. I understand they can't just be thrown in every week but surely they have started to show there talent and that they offer more in attack than others.

I listened to the Pod earlier and honestly was shocked be benny's defending of Lallana, and we are all entitled to our opinion and I'm not having a go, but Tex getting 1 goal makes me feel like he should easily start before him. Lallana dosnt seem to want to be a goal threat and take chances where the young lads do.

I guess for myself, I just don't see what it is lallana offers that one of the kids dosnt, we need goals and the way some of the shots were taken they have shown a better instinct for goal as well as looking like they have more composure in front of goal. The only way I guess we will know is if they get there chance and take it, and after the last few years it worrys me that some of these lads will leave for first team football before we know if they will make it.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think it is a joke, but I would prefer to see Tex getting the chance.}

5.) 21 Jan 2016 09:47:50
is it really night and day between their workrates? surely all footballers should have good enough work rates. he must hate sturridge.

6.) 21 Jan 2016 10:13:24
Ed01 I see your point and to be fair I'm not putting the blame squarely on Klopp. We have known about some of these youth players for a long time now and have repeatedly purchased players that have kept them out the team without really making us any better. Guess it's a little bit of impatience on my part to see Klopp work with the lads and create something special which I fully believe he will.

7.) 21 Jan 2016 10:22:15
Ed I remember klopp been unhappy Rogers left tex out of the Europa league squad can he get put in that now think we will see our younger players get chance there.

What is happening with Taiwo Awoniyi? Is he getting enough game time and developing well?

Love the site!

Thanks!

akki_red

{Ed002's Note - It is not going well in the German second division for him as he is not ready to play at that level regularly. Liverpool will have to find somewhere more suitable to send him next season.}

1.) 18 Jan 2016 17:39:39
I have in my head that Frankfurt have him on a two year loan deal, which would potentially result in us having to compensate Frankfurt to terminate the deal and send him somewhere better for him at this stage.

Am I (hopefully) wrong here? Or is it more money likely to go down the transfer mismanagement hole?

{Ed002's Note - His contract runs until the summer.}

{Ed002's Note - It is not going well in the German second tier. He is not ready to play regularly at that level just yet. Liverpool will need to find somewhere else for him in the summer.}

Hi eds,

Can you please confirm whether ilori will have his loan cut short or not?

Thanks.

akki_red

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool can agree a figure with Aston Villa then they might have the pleasure of his company.}

1.) 06 Jan 2016 15:56:18
The "privilege" surely?

2.) 06 Jan 2016 16:18:51
I wonder if this is now under serious consideration given last nights injury crisis with the centre halves?

I say why not finally he can have a chance at proving himself, he's a player I believe Klopp was interested in before he signed for us and we desperately need a centre back in two days time to play in cup.

3.) 06 Jan 2016 16:49:24
Regardless of what happens with Ilori, the club will definitely sign a CB imo. Would be happy with either Subotic or Matip.

4.) 06 Jan 2016 16:57:46
Indian Buzzer- surely signing another a long with Ilori returning would just be stupid, what happens when Sakho, Skrtel, Lovren, Toure, Ilori and Matip/ Subotic are all fit? That's ruling out all youth and reserve centre backs.

5.) 06 Jan 2016 15:44:03
Did we receive a significant loan fee ed? If they are expecting a significant cancellation fee in return do you expect us to dip our toes into the transfer market?

{Ed001's Note - it was about a mill, far less than would be needed to sign someone else.}

6.) 06 Jan 2016 17:32:18
Would they not be looking to cut their losses as well and save on his wages they are paying him between now and the end of the season? It doesn't look like they are going to use him, and yes I know that says a lot again about how good he is because it is 2 managers have seen him there at Villa and neither of them have taken a fancy to him.

{Ed002's Note - I am sure they would but that does not need to detract from Liverpool coming up with a figure that Aston Villa are happy with.}

7.) 07 Jan 2016 13:31:16
@Ed002, fair enough that's a good point - like both clubs cutting their losses. We'll see what happens.

Players like rossister, ed001?

akki_red

{Ed001's Note - yes but I was particularly thinking of Chirivella, Rossiter should be more of a playmaker.}
