Hey eds, what's the story with that kid Ejaria who played the first 45 of the friendly the other day. imo his desire to keep the ball was strong, he did good and holding his passes and waiting for the right space.

redNI

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure what you mean? He is a player we picked up from Arsenal a couple of years ago, but that is about all I know of him to be honest. He has never really stood out before.}

1.) 11 Jul 2016 20:02:23
He looked like he had potential, let's hope he continues. Didn't know we got him from them thanks a lot for the reply.

2.) 11 Jul 2016 20:03:34
I agree with 001 he's been entirely average in the u18s in the 2 years he's been here since being let go by Arsenal. He had a VERY good 45 in that friendly though I was very impressed.

3.) 11 Jul 2016 20:03:53
Could be the Harry Kane to us 😉
He never stood out at youth level.

4.) 11 Jul 2016 21:26:00
He will be playing for the U21s next season, mostly in centre midfield I would think.

Anyone know if Mainz or Dortmund made a lot of signings during JKs first seasons with these teams. I doubt Mainz did . Basically my point is I'm most excited to see how JK gets the team to play not who plays in it. I think this should excite us more than maybe landing a fella with a german last name. If JK was able to get results without major signings before then why would we be any different. Leicester just won the league folks.

They didn't make a lot of signings. But Dortmund trimmed the first team squad by 17 players in Klopps first summer.

I think we will get Chilwell and Zielinski over the line. Then I only expect one more player. Possibly Gotze, Mane etc. Basically a goal scoring attacker to replace Coutinho who like it or not, wants CL football.

I can still see a lot more players leaving though.

Just from the senior squad/ loanees we'll probably lose Bogdan, Vigouroux, Enrique, Toure, Skrtel, Ilori, Wisdom, Allen, Rossiter, Teixeira, Canos, Ibe, Alberto, Markovic, Coutinho, Sinclair, Balotelli, Benteke and Yesil. That's already 19 players.

I know people aren't keen on Lallana, Moreno, Milner, Lucas and Mignolet but they won't be going anywhere if you ask me. Klopp rates Milner, Lallana and Lucas. As for Moreno and Mignolet, who would buy them after the season they've just had?

I do expect a much smaller and fine tuned squad next season though to allow the likes of Brannagan and Ojo chances to impress. Klopp is a big believer in giving youth a chance. You just can't do that with a 50 player squad.

Well put MK.

3.) 21 Jun 2016 11:04:05
I think Coutinho stays this year. Gotze/ Mane will be an addition IMO.

I think Ibe will go.

4.) 21 Jun 2016 12:58:08
That is a lot of players and most of them simply dead wood and/ or not good enough. Huge saving in wages. And now that we don't have Europe this year we can trim the squad right down with pure quality over quantity. We can afford to play (almost) the same team week in week out - injuries permitting. Would like to see this done mainly with the back 4.

5.) 21 Jun 2016 17:07:38
Replacing Coutinho with Mane would be a mistake.

He would cost a fortune and it would take a large portion of the Coutinho money to bring him in (transfer fee, signing fee, agent, etc) .

A backwards step certainly in terms of quality, player attitude and effectiveness.

ed001 is there a chance that we brought in Klavan with a hope that he can help develop our youngsters in a mentor type role?

redNI

{Ed001's Note - he is only 30, he should have 4-5 years left at the top level in him, if he is good enough. That is not a mentor role.}

If he cannot not, maybe we bring Bellamy and make them roommates.

Oh wow that doesn't sound too promising but maybe its a maturity thing. I would imagine that getting dropped requires you to be rather insubordinate. Cheers for the info mate.

redNI

{Ed001's Note - he is defo immature. Whether or not Klopp could fix that is the main question.}

ed001 - has his attitude been a major problem at his current and previous clubs? what are we talking about here, we can't have any more golf club type incident lol

Zimbo i totally agree, he could be very dangerous if those behind him are able to adapt to JKs style of play and get their distribution on point.

I get why lots of folks are worried, we have a history of overpaying for average players but as the eds have said price is based on an individual basis therefore a large Mane fee doesn't logically lump him in the same bracket.

redNI

{Ed001's Note - yes his attitude has been a problem, Koeman repeatedly dropped him from the squad over it.}

Jesus we are hard on your own fellas sometime, the kid gave it a good try, made mistakes but had more solid moments. Fair play to him getting in the squad of the tournament. If he is still with us next year I'm ok with that. BR didn't do us all a favor with his constant pda towards Joe and imo this is what put a lot of people off him. If he was brought in with the goal of a long term future based on areas of acknowledged development you would be singing a different tune of how far he has come.

For me you missed their point, Wassa-lfcs opinion is based on banned players still having a physical advantage due to a person having taking performance enhancing substances.

To my knowledge someone stops taking a substance they stop receiving the benefits and often have negative side effects which can hinder regular progression. Now some of the benefits can remain for a short period. But banning them, forcing them to not be competiting at the highest level and removing their team training sessions will do more to hurt their physical progression than any of these side effects could ever help. I would love to read up on this though, good post Wassa-lfc.
