Not claiming to be ITK on this but my prediction is Slot gets his marching orders after the City game on Feb 8th, transfer window will be closed so no pressure from fans to back the new coach in the market, 2 more champions league games will be played so a bit more certainty in that competition and our place in top 4 will be a lot clearer also.
Obviously Slot could pull some good results out of his hat and save himself for another few games but pressure is beginning to mount in Anfield and that game against Newcastle at Anfield may be the jab before the final blow is landed by City…just call me mystic Meg!

Man City to make an approach to Alonso if pep does decide to go.

Cowards. Too little too late.
No point in hiding the truth, This squad should've won the league. It's been set up to Fail from pre season coz the manager can't adapt the Style, Formation and Tempo to suit the Players we have
Disaster of a season that's probably set us Back years.

And Alonso can come in and pick up the pieces, assess the squad with lower expectations.
At this rate, top 4 is the best we can hope for, whoever is in charge and until he squad is better balanced.

LFC8, why do you say with such conviction that our squad should've won the league? I said earlier today that we don't have the best squad in the league, nowhere near. We are threadbare in defence, barely anyone who can play out wide, and in the absence of Isak we only have Ekitike up top.
So, I really don't understand your rationale regards to us having the best squad. We simply don't.

Rome I say with this squad we should be running away with the league just look at the teams we have dropped points too in this good run apart from Arsenal I don't think you could have asked for a better run.
Isak has never got fit enough because of Slots training methods you see it with every fringe player when they come in it was never like that under Klopp because the entire squad was fit.
This has been happening since last February and is only getting worse week in week out.
Watching football for 45 years now and since the premier league started I can't remember a much worse league than this one Arsenal the best team in the league by some distance and they can't open the scoring in about 80% of there games without a set piece. They go do under any contact to try to win one because they can't open teams up they are just a better Brentford under Frank.
That's why this squad should be winning this league and easily.

If we look at it this way with a "head cosch" he works with what he's got. the "head coach" and the people in charge of recruitment have clearly got different ideas., or we wouldn't have spent over £400 mil on players that don't seem to fit in the head coaches approach. Sack em all.
Not been good enough. start again.

Will agree to disagree with you too, grino. Though I definitely agree about it being a poor division.
I also disagree with you lumping blame on Slot for Isak's fitness. If you have inside knowledge regards to our training methods, I apologise, if you don't, you're simply making stuff up to just beat Slot up with. Was Slot playing in defence for Spurs when Isak had his leg broke?

I'm with Grino on this one. Our squad paper out squad is unreal, but IMO have been shackled, mishandled, unsupported and asked to play a style of football unsuited to them all season. Injuries have also played a part granted.
Salah was one of the best last year, why has he been asked to stay out wide now when he's clearly the first player we should have arriving in the box. Lunacy.
Nunez was replaced with Isak so Alex could finish the chances Nunez was missing. Those chances are not being created. Style change.
Kerkez and Frimpong bought in as two of the best and most attacking wide players in their leagues, then asked to play possession football. Pointless.
We stuck with the changed style even though we have struggled with it all season. Our two best performances and results v Villa and RM came when we went full throttle. Incompetence and stubbornness.
We were clear favourites at the start for a reason and a big part of the issues with Slot is that it is very clear we are underperforming massively based on the talent we have at our disposal.

Agree with you Rome, he arrived unfit, no pre season, and a niggling injury!
Also agree not everything is Slots fault!

No but like ed001 said after to something comment if Isak's fitness was better van der ven does not get there.
And if you can't see how we struggle to compete with teams playing high tempo and I can't see what you are watching,
You can see we can't press like we use too under Klopp and that is a fitness issue.
Konate as been truly awful and I wonder if that is down to fitness as well because every time he use to come back from an injury it would take him at least 5/ 6 games to get back in the grove. And he has been playing like that all season.

I don't think we are down to the bones. I think we're playing the wrong formation.
Central defenders yes. That should've been sorted January 1st.
The squad suits 442 diamond only. Going off what we have now, fit and available. Back 4 speaks for itself, midfield diamond you've got Wirtz, Szobo, Macca, Dom, Grav, Jones, Endo all to choose from…
2 strikers, Ekitike, Gakpo, Chiesa, Rio.
It Should've won the league this squad, I'm not going to hide behind Excuses and Red Tinted glasses. It should've won the league we've basically thrown it away and the manager has bottled it by not adapting to the Squad.

No club can be expected to win the league at the start of the season. There are always clubs that have a better chance than most, and these clubs vary from season to season. On paper, with the players we brought in and a manager fresh from winning the League last season, we were always likely to be there or thereabouts.
That said, there is always a difference between 'could' and 'should'. Nobody is entitled to win the League and anybody who starts the season by thinking his team should win the league is just building themselves up for unnecessary disappointment.
