I’ve just seen a rumour that Vince McMahon (WWF wrestling owner) is buying Liverpool FC with the Rock
I’m just letting you know, of all the ridiculous stupid rumours, this is the one I am choosing to believe in
Undertaker in midfield next season.
1.) 22 Feb 2023 18:29:20
I smell something, I doubt it's what the Rock is cooking.
2.) 22 Feb 2023 18:31:46
I'd love this. Each player has their own entrance music.
Substitution time. Stadium lights go out. Players look to the touch line with scared look in their eyes.
Music blares and the sub comes running down the tunnel. We secretly register old players in the squad for shock value. One game Sami Hyppia could come running down the tunnel for instance. Crowd lose their sh$$.
Probably end up getting relegated playing old players at this level. Don't get me wrong. We d be a joke of a club but in the end "are you not entertained! "
3.) 22 Feb 2023 18:38:13
We already have 3 deadmen in midfield, playing week in and week out, .,
Ah, what the hell, I suppose one more couldn't make things any worse :P.
4.) 22 Feb 2023 19:43:14
Talk about hitting rock bottom.
But it might give Martin Tyler a kick of enthusiasm when Klopp runs out to clobber a ref with a chair.
5.) 22 Feb 2023 20:59:59
Well at least we'll be guaranteed entertainment, and I wouldn't be averse to the results being fixed in our favour in advance!
6.) 22 Feb 2023 21:02:12
By the way, the article was about Redbird (who also happen to be investors in FSG who own Liverpool) injecting money into XFL, the NFL alternative set up by Vince McMahon and The Rock.
So, roughly the right words, just in the wrong order, lol.
7.) 22 Feb 2023 22:26:42
I prefer those rumours that's linked to "my friend's auntie who worked in Liverpool FC canteen overheard. "
8.) 22 Feb 2023 23:24:14
LiverpoolFC8 you may want to go back and read that article again. That's not what it said.
9.) 22 Feb 2023 23:58:40
It wasn't set up by vince and the rock, it was set up by vince who lost a fortune on it due to C.V., then sold it to the rock . Just saying ?.
10.) 23 Feb 2023 04:43:23
The Undertaker can barely run and can only perform ever few months. oh guess he'll fit right in :D.
11.) 23 Feb 2023 06:11:00
In all fairness if we got The King and JR doing the match commentary it would be far better than Martin Tyler's expressionless droning.
His disdain for the club isn't even hidden in his commented now, but thars a whole other post.
12.) 23 Feb 2023 06:43:57
Stone. I wasn’t being serious mate cmon.
Unless. Your post was a smokescreen because your infact Stone,
Cold Steve Austin!
“Tisshhhhh” glass smashes and Stone walks into the forum and decks about 20 blokes and drinks 4 bevvys putting his finger up to the Ed’s and buys Liverpool Football Club with arch enemy Vince McMahon.
13.) 23 Feb 2023 06:57:30
20 blokes, he would have to be some sort of Macho Man to even think of doing that, infarct he would have to be the Ultimate Warrior!
14.) 23 Feb 2023 08:23:17
Spices up tho commentary though " baw gawd, it's Nunez what's he doing here " "he's cleaning house J. R. oh the humanity " " wait is that Mr Mcmahon, is he going in goal? " "He can do whatever he wants King it's his Liverpool now " awesome .
15.) 23 Feb 2023 11:56:02
You found me out LiverpoolFC8. Damn.
16.) 23 Feb 2023 14:57:50
Haaland 1 on 1 through on goal, the undertake comes up out of the peno spot ?.
17.) 23 Feb 2023 18:18:28
On tv in front of the Kop…
“The name on the contract does say McMahon but it says Shane McMahon. ”.
18.) 23 Feb 2023 23:43:29
We could sign John terry and have a “sleeping with a players wife” story line. Can’t wait to see Papa shango versus Bruce grobbelaar “money in the bank” match.
22 Oct 2022 20:18:53
Ed002. Can we expect to sign a couple of players in January or what my mate?
If not, Just lie to us and give us some good news.
{Ed002's Note - I don’t see Bellingham and Mbappe before the summer.{}
1.) 22 Oct 2022 21:18:45
100% we will buy January think the club have been backed into a corner and won’t have a option!
We will nvr sign Jude or a mbappe!
2.) 22 Oct 2022 21:09:59
So you are confirming Bellingham and Mbappe in the summer Ed02?.
3.) 23 Oct 2022 00:15:26
As long as it's not just a last-minute panic/ desperation loan.
4.) 23 Oct 2022 10:17:33
Surely PSG take Mo off our hands and send their trouble maker our way in Jan
:D.
5.) 23 Oct 2022 10:48:50
Problem is that the world and his dog will know we’re desperate, so we’re likely to be absolutely scalped if we try to sign anyone, which will keep the purse strings well and truly closed. I do think we should send Arthur back to Juve, as he’s been an unmitigated disaster. Imagine signing an injury prone midfielder to cover a crisis caused by having too many injury prone midfielders. SMDH.
6.) 22 Oct 2022 23:59:56
How about Youssoufa Moukoko Ed002. Any idea when we will sign him? Thanks if you have any info.
{Ed002's Note - Youssoufa Moukoko (F) Youngster of interest to PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona as he approaches his first professional contract, which is causing a to be a problem. A number of Premier League and other French sides have sent scouts.}
7.) 23 Oct 2022 16:51:50
I don’t believe artur melo is injury prone…. we got him on loan but he wasn’t fit enough to play and In his endeavours to get match fit, he did extra training session, and this I believe inevitably led to his injury.
8.) 23 Oct 2022 18:26:01
He’s definitely injury prone. Have a look at his history on Transfermarkt. You’re free to believe what you like, but facts don’t care about feelings and the facts are that he’s made out of crisps. The stats below don’t read like a player who’s durable.
22/ 23 Surgery 97 days 15 games
22/ 23 Ankle problems 8 days 1 games
21/ 22 Unknown Injury 12 days 2 games
21/ 22 Distortion of the ankle 17 days 3 games
21/ 22 Surgery 77 days 8 games
20/ 21 Leg Injury 27 days 7 games
20/ 21 Hamstring Injury 5 days 2 games
19/ 20 Ankle Injury 7 days 1 game
19/ 20 Ankle Injury 11 days 1 game
19/ 20 Pubitis 44 days 7 games
19/ 20 Knock 5 days 1 game
19/ 20 Knock 4 days 1 game

18/ 19 Hamstring Injury 19 days 4 games
18/ 19 Torn abductor muscle 15 days 4 games
17/ 18 Ankle Injury 87 days 5 games.
9.) 24 Oct 2022 08:33:49
So 11 out of 18 injuries he missed at most 2 games? And only 2/ 18 did he miss hat you would consider a large portion of games. A big long scary list can be deceiving. I’d hardly call it injury prone.
10.) 24 Oct 2022 11:17:01
As you say @BCS, it looks more like a lot of bumps and bruises rather than anything else.
Anyway, who’s to say how many of the 15 games he is currently missing he would actually have played in - I’d be willing to wager five shillings (in old money) that it wouldn’t have been 15, which also leads you to wonder how many of the other games he missed would he have actually been picked for?
A bit of a case of ‘lies, damn lies and statistics’ perhaps.
11.) 24 Oct 2022 16:59:03
Never take what VVVV is saying about players seriously. 18 months ago he was saying that Vinicius was overhyped, the next Denilson and would be back in Brazil at 25.
12.) 24 Oct 2022 18:02:31
If he wasn’t going to be playing many of the 15 games, then why did we bother loaning him. Not signing a first team midfielder or even 2 is a massive error by Klopp which has and will continue to cost us significantly this season.
13.) 24 Oct 2022 19:19:24
I'd say missing 65 or so matches over 6 seasons is a qualifier for being "injury prone". That's a season and a half missed out of 6. Throw in the time required to get match fit and back up to speed (more than likely as a sub) and he's missing close to 80 games. On the low end that's 12 games a season. Missing 12 or more games a season is 1/ 3 so I'd consider that a player that you can't build the team around or count on. Just looking at Naby lad, he's played 76 times for us in 4 seasons in the PL. So he's missed 72 games for us out of a possible 152 matches. Would anyone argue that Naby has not been injury prone? Arther is better but not by much. Sure I'm not including CL and cup matches and I'm sure Keita's stats decline even more with all of that considered.
14.) 24 Oct 2022 20:33:17
Missing 65 games over 6 seasons really doesn’t qualify as injury prone sorry.
Even without taking into account champs league and cup games, 38 games x 6 seasons is 228 games. 65 games is 29% of the matches (again without throwing the clear extra cup and champs league games in) .
Being available for 71% of games is pretty good availability. Is it amazing? No, but it certainly not the picture being painted to suit the agenda of some posters.
15.) 25 Oct 2022 19:53:03
Well call it whatever but the irony here is that we've signed someone to fill in the gaping injury hole and he's now injured himself. Can't make this stuff up.
Reading up on injury prone players, one of the reasons given is "overtraining". The others given are the players genetic makeup and incorrect techniques, whatever that means. Given what I was reading on us losing our club doctor this season, a position that is currently unfilled, it does make me wonder if overtraining is a factor. I know the club ran double sessions leading right up to the season. I'm purely speculating here but clearly having this many injuries so early in the season imo isn't just bad luck.
{Ed001's Note - undertraining is more often a cause of injuries than overtraining.}
16.) 26 Oct 2022 13:14:35
I didn’t think the cub doctor got involved with training/ recovery etc. I thought they are just there for purely medical situations. Don’t the fitness coaches/ Physios cover those issues? If someone knows more about what they cover I’d be genuinely interested to know.
22 Aug 2021 19:51:14
Shaqs gone. Good luck to him always liked him hope he stays fit. Surely a replacement will be looked at?
1.) 22 Aug 2021 20:07:55
Shaq played most of his time as sub, and in the midfield, Elliot has taken that role now.
2.) 22 Aug 2021 20:29:59
Harvey sees a pass shaq never would harsh but true.
3.) 22 Aug 2021 20:36:09
Aaaah the power cube. A player I was amazed we signed who did some good things but was never someone I thought “oh no, he’s not availableâ€. He was at absolutely the wrong club.
He needs to be the big fish in the small pond.
He will go on to score some worldies and we will look back in his time affectionately, but in reality he was always injured, to easy to counter and not incisive enough for Liverpool.
4.) 22 Aug 2021 20:51:13
Thank you for the Man Utd goals Shaq!
5.) 22 Aug 2021 21:34:55
What Bledd said.
6.) 22 Aug 2021 21:51:02
Only for the injuries I really liked shaq.
I feel this will be a comment I will use again when a few others eventually leave.
Nothing but the best wishes for shaq in his future. go show mbappe and Messi who the real superstar of ligue 1 is.
7.) 22 Aug 2021 22:02:29
Bledd. and the Barcelona win / assist ✌.
8.) 22 Aug 2021 22:18:44
I remember signing him for something like 13 mill and thought it was a great deal. Looking at it now selling for 9.5 ish he filled a gap and scored a few good goals and not a bad deal I suppose. Elliot easily fills the space and more. Good luck to shaq and wish him all the best in the future!
9.) 22 Aug 2021 22:24:10
To be fair acered, Shaq could see a pass. What he lacked that Elliott doesn't is quite simply work rate and mobility. Technical gifts and vision weren't his downfall in my opinion. Football is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration. The great man Cruyff once said that in football, you spend 87 minutes without the ball, and that those minutes are more important than the 3 minutes you have it.
Elliott works 10 times harder defensively than Shaq, and he works incredibly hard off it to always give his team mates an option for a pass. When he gets the ball he turns to face up the defence and he just runs at them. It caused havoc against Burnley. His direct play won us several corners, it won a lot of free kicks in the middle of the park, Mee even had to chop him down once on the edge of the area, another time it led to the Mane goal, and we also saw it lead to Salah having a shot cleared off the line.
I actually think Shaq is fully capable of playing that pass for the Salah offside goal, and we saw him play it several times for Liverpool. I can recall similar passes twice last season alone leading to 2 Jota goals. One direct to Jota and another to Trent who then rolled it across for a Jota tap in.
Elliott was literally unplayable against Burnley though. If they got tight he would spin them with a give and go, and if they backed off he'd tear them to pieces. Shaq can' do that because he either doesn't have the legs, or he simply can't be bothered. I've not seen a better debut from a teenager in a Liverpool shirt.
10.) 22 Aug 2021 23:05:09
Yeah he played a belter pass from wide left across to salah a few months back, big looping pass right onto salad foot, resulting in a great goal.
He had it in his locker for sure.
11.) 22 Aug 2021 23:08:22
Loved Shaq. He certainly wanted success, tried and wore shirt with pride. He loved Klopp. Those gazes towards him during sub talks and the hugs. Scored and tried enough to score more. Played when and where asked. Good luck.
Elliot already replaces him. Same scenario, wide creative player moved to CM. Harv will be a much better player so long as everyone gives him time and awareness of age.
So. £50m income Mr Edwards this window. £36m spent. Welll done.
12.) 22 Aug 2021 23:28:03
What WhyOWhy and MK Scouser said. He has a need to be the Messi in a team, so that if off the ball, you cut him some slack, but we all know that won't fly in a Klopp team.
13.) 22 Aug 2021 23:32:51
Best of luck Shaq. In the right system he is a quality player. I hope he has success.
{Ed0666's Note - if he stays injury free I’m sure he’ll be a total success.
14.) 23 Aug 2021 00:08:33
My Shaq memory is seeing him substituted against Barcelona and how pumped he was coming off. It meant something to him and that's all I ever need to know.
15.) 23 Aug 2021 08:10:15
Didn’t have the mentality needed to be a first teamer but awesome left foot and skills.
16.) 23 Aug 2021 10:54:24
Acered, I disagree with that.
No doubt Elliot is talented but i don't think anybody has seen enough of him at Premiership level to judge him yet. I think every red hope he fulfils his potential.
Shaq picked out some lovely passes/ through balls for us.
24 Oct 2019 08:30:06
I love Hendos energy, but he's not playing as good this season that's clear to see. Has the ox just took his position for now?
1.) 24 Oct 2019 10:42:36
Ffs 17 wins on the trot and 1 draw and the knives are out, hendo and gini will start against spurs,
2.) 24 Oct 2019 12:11:41
without the knives but don't you think Oxlade earned a starting spot?
3.) 24 Oct 2019 12:19:18
I don't think so yet FC8. It's reassuring to know that Ox and Keita can step in though. It really depends on the opposition and the matchups whether or not Keita or Ox will supplant Gini or Hendo.
4.) 24 Oct 2019 12:41:26
Ox might not be at a stage yet where he can handle a prolonged run of games. He has still only had about 180 minutes or so of competitive football since his injury.
Would much rather see him managed well in terms of recovery and hopefully be a big asset come the turn of the year.
Im sure the medical department already have their plan of how much game time he can take.
He definately does add something different than other players in the current squad. Needs a lot more games under his belt to be fully up to speed though.
Cant see him starting against spurs but id say a start in the arsenal game is nailed on.
5.) 24 Oct 2019 13:11:16
if we want to take another step this year and achieve the ultimate, it's essential that both oxlade-chamberlain and keita step their games up, become regulars in the midfield rotation, and provide a technical advantage that other players can't provide. we'll encounter a lot of different looks and strategies throughout the year, and it's important to have guys in the side that give us versatility to not only answer those challenges, but overcome them and throw things back at other squads that they themselves don't have answers for. ox having a strong game shouldn't lead to the suggestion that it's time for a "slumping" henderson to be replaced by him. we need them both, just as we need all of these guys, to continue to be part of a strong unit that is very difficult to be beaten by any side in the world on any day of the year.
6.) 24 Oct 2019 13:32:59
but how do you keep people happy on the bench if they just stay on the bench even if they perform? also i fail to see how 2 games in a row is a "prolonged run of games"
doing good coming off the bench or when playing with a rotated starting 11 should be rewarded with more gametime imo.
I like both Gini and Hendo but i really hope Ox and Keita gets more real chances, not just when rotating and 10minutes in the end of matches.
7.) 24 Oct 2019 14:02:42
> but how do you keep people happy on the bench if they just stay on the bench even if they perform?
=========================
Because they know its a long season with a lot of games and they will have their chances . Klopp decides which player to use pending fitness and opposition, yesterday Ox did very well because Genk gave him the time and space he needs, which is not easy in the PL, also if you watch back, he hardly pressed, which is needed for our game in the premier league.
8.) 24 Oct 2019 17:19:25
I hope starts to really kick on, he’s the one that gets into positions and receive the ball in offensive areas that are tight. This give us so much more from an attacking perspective.
9.) 24 Oct 2019 18:01:00
Ox that is 😂😂.
10.) 24 Oct 2019 18:44:57
It's not that black and white though. Ox opens our midfield up by being so offensive, whereas Hendo doesn't open up the opposition. catch 22 formation?
11.) 24 Oct 2019 19:04:32
We really have a fascinating fetish for wanting to drop Hendo out of the team. Apart possibly from Matip, I don't think any player's position is talked about as much. Yet he keeps coming back and justifying his place.
That said, Ox deserves to start against Spurs, imo. And I think Klopp subbed him because he wants that option. Had he no intention of starting him against Spurs, he'd have probably left him on for the full 90 against Genk.
I wouldn't start Ox and Keita though, I think it'll leave us too open. Given that Fabinho should be an automatic choice at DM, there's then a space for Gini, Milner or Hendo even with Ox starting. I see merits in picking any of them.
12.) 24 Oct 2019 20:23:50
I think there's an equal argument for Keita to start as much as Ox, if you are going to base an opinion on just the last game against Genk. Keita had more passes, more dribbles and more tackles than anyone else. Yes sure, it was only Genk, but there you go. How can you successfully argue that Ox would be great against Spurs but Keita wouldn't be?
The wise thing is to do what Klopp is doing. Stick with the players that got you to the top level you are at. Tinker from time to time according to the kind of team and style being faced, and make timely substitutions during games to gain what someone on the bench can offer.
I really couldn't care a damn what a player thinks if he's not starting and sitting on the bench. It's a 25 player squad that attacks each game, not just the 11 on the field. The team, and the wins, come first.
13.) 24 Oct 2019 21:15:29
The problem is playing two holding midfielders against the back 5 / 'low-block'. I would have been happy v Utd if the shackles were off Hendo to bomb forward, late runs into the box etc to give an extra attacking option. But he doesn't seem to do that. There's no need to be so defensive against teams that defend. Fabinho can hold his own.
14.) 25 Oct 2019 02:25:00
It's about finding the right balance with consideration for the oppositions style too. Keita and ox certainly add that offensive aggression but they also left our midfield open and back 4 exposed at times. I think gini and fabinho start but I also think much might depend on wether Trent can play or if Gomez slots in to RB. I think klopp would want Henderson on that side if Trent was involved but if Gomez starts maybe OX or keita could get picked as Gomez wouldn't need as much protection with his recovery pace and lack of instruction to get too advanced as Trent does.
Either way it's great to see the depth and variation of klopps midfield options, having 2 or 3 midfielders with the ability to be starters available on the bench can let klopp change the approach hugely if needed in a game.
15.) 25 Oct 2019 10:08:35
Ox will be good for some games, hendo for others . . .
16.) 27 Oct 2019 12:43:46
The ox has definitely given klopp something to think about. It was only genk though. I'd bring him on at 60 minutes. Open the tired defence.
29 Dec 2018 21:30:39
5:1 against Arsenal. Do you know what's scary. We actually played at about 60%. We've got another gear or two!
1.) 30 Dec 2018 00:07:46
We got a bit of luck, the bobbled goal came at the perfect time, and very soft pen on Lovren. But if I was an arsenal fan I’d be furious. Koscienly has stolen a living for years now, can’t believe they still play him! He makes Matip look keen. He walks back to the goal after getting beaten. Mustafi is just as bad, I swear he went off ‘injured’ the last time we put a few past them. If it gets tough he gets going. They are awful at the back, other teams just know they can have a go and put them under pressure and they can get something. Hopefully people know see that with city!
2.) 30 Dec 2018 03:33:17
Would ya stop firmane, there was only one team that was going to win when arsenal went one up. Unbelievable performance.
3.) 30 Dec 2018 04:01:09
What a day lads. city next.

Are we all happy Reds? What a great start to the season. Massive test for Slot away at Old Trafford and we smashed them to bits.
I’m wondering what the team will be midweek after the Forest game at anfield. Away in Milan. Might we see the Gakpo Nunez Chiesa front 3 with Elliot in the Szobo role ?.
1.) 02 Sep 2024 20:51:50
Long way to go LFC8 but it's been a massively impressive start by Slot. Not just on the pitch but off it as well. Be interesting to see how he handles adversity which will be bound to happen at some stage but nothing he has displayed so far would make me think he would crumble. Very very impressed but would caveat that with so far.
Also recently I ve taken some stick for criticizing Gravenberch last season. I maintain rightfully so because maximum effort is minimum requirement on the pitch. Welll under Slot he is absolutely breaking out. He was outstanding in the first three games showing some aspects I didn't even think he has in his locker. My biggest hope was he would turn into our version of Viera. You can see some similar traits. That is a seriously lofty level to get to but his talent is really starting to shine now.
Finally, I love the extra defensive solidity we have now on the tactics.
Those are the three most pleasing aspects for me. Stupid international break now. Having to wait far too long for a game.
2.) 02 Sep 2024 21:37:38
I think almost everybody were criticizing Gravenberch at one point, Davey. So to see BP calling only you out for it was a little bit strange mate to say the least.
It's a relief to see him playing like this. I personally didn't think we'd ever see it with him but I'm so glad I was wrong. I wrote him off far too soon.
3.) 02 Sep 2024 22:05:05
people will get carried away by the results.
What's more important is that the team appear to be responsive to the new style under Slot. positive results does help that transition of course!
4.) 02 Sep 2024 22:23:37
Osimhen gone to Maureen at Galatasaray on season long loan, he would of definitely guaranteed the Premier for Arne.
Not many got one over on Jurgen, top marks for Arne in spotting that Gravenberch is a born to be number 6.
Kelleher, Bradley, Quansah, Gomez, Tsimikas, Elliot, Endo, Jones, Chiesa, Nunez, Gakpo is the team i would play in every Champions League, Carabao and FA Cup games.
Only play the starting eleven at Old Trafford when possible in every PREMIER game. Go all out for the Premier and forget every other competition. Arteta is going to totally focus on the Premier, Arne will call his bluff and follow suit.
5.) 02 Sep 2024 22:43:52
I'm very happy with it, I won't get carried away and declare we're going to win this, that and the other. But I am impressed with how things are going so far.
I was honestly expecting us to have dropped points either in this game or the first game of the season, due to the internationals and extra fatigue that usually comes with it. So Slot has exceeded my expectations so far.
That being said, I do think we should still expect to go through a tough spell, probably around Christmas (like always lol), so it will be interesting to see how Slot handles that.
Good times ahead I suspect.
6.) 02 Sep 2024 22:49:49
We beat United at Old Trafford at the weekend playing good football, we are coming up to games against Madrid and Milan and the like. It’s a shame that some can only see the destination as the journey is way more fun.
7.) 02 Sep 2024 23:02:21
I didn’t particularly call you out Davey I just mentioned you because I remember having a discussion with you about Gravenberch last season.
I remember seeing him in his first game for us and just thinking, wow this kid looks to have bags of talent so I always believed we had a top player on our hands as he is still so young. I just couldn’t believe so many of you couldn’t see it.
8.) 02 Sep 2024 23:46:45
I've seen many a talent wasted with lack of application and hard work BP.
I'm delighted with the turn around.
9.) 03 Sep 2024 00:41:46
I just didn’t see that with him. His awareness of space and his touch just stood out like a sore thumb to me. I honestly watched him and he reminded me of Zidane with the way he collected the ball and turned into space in one movement.
Before you say it I’m not saying he’s as good as Zidane or the next Zidane or anything like that, just that his control and awareness reminded me of him.
He still has a long way to go, it’s only 3 games but the signs are looking good. Now he just has to show that he can keep improving and consistently perform.
10.) 03 Sep 2024 01:14:36
I'm happy with the start and that the manager seems to know how he wants to play and the players do too. It's also good to see that Slot seems to know his best eleven already.
I'm happy enough not to care about players that don't play for us and not to worry about next season.
Sometimes you need to stop and smell the roses, Redmen.
11.) 03 Sep 2024 01:52:15
I guess we could look at the same thing and still see it differently, Beckers. I had the same view as Davey regarding Grav as well. He started out well last season for us and then, to me, he started shirking challenges and letting players just run past him. It was frustrating as he did have the quality to do much more. But I am glad that he is starting to take games by the scruff of the neck and really applying himself.
12.) 03 Sep 2024 07:01:15
I think it’s fair enough to say that WE all haven’t a clue into the makings of a PL footballer. Some would have you believe they do mind ?. Easy to sit behind a keyboard and give analysis on a players misgivings or how they should start every week. We don’t know these people and I’m certain nobody has played PL football. Easy to say a player isn’t trying but how do we know really. Let’s all sit from a position of ignorance then we all won’t get too upset ?.
13.) 03 Sep 2024 07:37:49
I remember on the chat last season me and jk were pretty much the only 2 defending Grav. I thought his standout quality was in carrying the ball forward and breaking the lines. Which it is, but this season we have also seen an ability to receive the ball in tight spaces and turn into space to start attacks. He has also been decent intercepting and tracking runners which has improved massively from last season. I think a lot of them seem to be working harder out of possession than last season. It helps that were not so gung-ho anymore so players are closer to their position when we lose the ball. I've seen Trent run back like a sprinter several times already this season which I didn't see much of under Klopp. Did Klopp no want them charging back? Is this new manager tactics? or new manager bounce? Players fighting for their places or new contracts? I hope it continues and they don't get complacent. The test for me will be if we get a few injuries and if we lose a game or two. We were always good when things were working. What I saw under Klopp a few times were some real drops in form and heads following defeats and we'd go through a real stinker of a patch. I'm hoping Slot helps us bounce back from defeats.
Oh I also said Salah has lost a yard of pace (he has) but his around game is improving. I said Diaz end product is ridiculously frustrating and cost us (it was and it did) glad to see Salah looks absolutely fresh and raring to go and Diaz looks to have found some seriously good shooting boots. Long may it continue. Having Diaz and Nunez miss chance after chance last season made me pull my hair out ill be glad to keep some as it's getting precious now I'm 40. Jury's still out on Nunez for me I'm afraid (what a negative and bad fan) loved him when he came and think there's attributes in there to be a beast but if you can't keep yourself onside and finish one on one's top strikers should be gobbling then he was an expensive mistake I'm afraid big season for him. Hope he gets some boots off Lucho and Becker and all the other never say a bad word posters can tell me to shove my words wherever they want.
14.) 03 Sep 2024 08:15:39
Also comparing Gravenberch with Zidane is wild man. While some may be critical and negative some are obviously wildly optimistic bordering on delusional.
15.) 03 Sep 2024 08:35:02
He didn’t compare them, he even made that clear in his post. I always thought Grav was our best midfielder carrying the ball but now also his positional play and defending are very impressive. The test will come when we have to really dig in and stay in a game Grav will have to sit and hold his position. Excellent start but he can’t play every game so hope he doesn’t get over played.
16.) 03 Sep 2024 08:31:08
Red Will i'll be honest mate i thought Grav was getting a bit of a short straw because whilst i agree his performances weren't always up to scratch he wasn't given the same leniency as other players get (new, league, time to settle, is young, language etc) .
I thought there has to be a player in there (more from hearsay than seeing if I'm honest) and he did show glimpses.
If someone had said to in Jun-Aug that Grav would be our starting 6 and offered me a free big money bet on it being a success or not I'd have bet no.
So whilst i have backed him he's also shocked me with how good he has been.
{Ed025's Note - i thought he was a bit of a lemon after last season as well JK, he has really surprised me how good hes been in this new Slot system, but it has only been 3 games and against pretty poor opponents so im not declaring him the new "Zidane" just yet mate..
17.) 03 Sep 2024 08:45:19
He literally qualified his statement about zidane right after making it, don’t see why there is any need to call him delusional. I too have been on here raving about gravenberch’s touch and awareness of space, he’s showing us that his carrying of the ball into that space and driving upfield is top class after leaving his marker in the dust too, and the three midfielders are winning balls in the middle of the park so well, most of our chances are coming from winning duels when the other team has the ball, long may it continue.
18.) 03 Sep 2024 09:01:59
I didn't particularly call out anyone. I said 'some are' I also said bordering on delusional not delusional. While some call out anyone with a critical opinion and tell them to shove things down their throat it seems the rules are different for people calling out posters for their over optimismistic opinions.
19.) 03 Sep 2024 09:08:20
All I can see is that both sides are right in regards to Gravenberch. The player I saw for Ajax in that UEFA Cup final against Mourinho's ManU played very very well that day and deserved his "World class potential" moniker, at the time. If Ziyech had not missed so many clear chances, he would have spared Mourinho having to win that "Mickey Mouse Cup".
I watch Ajax from time to time and Gravenberch has always impressed me in their system.
Now if it didn't work out for him at Bayern, nor for us last year, then you have to wonder if it was because of the player or the system. I'm no football genius, but I think some of it was the player, and most of it was the tactical set up by Klopp. And we have to be honest and admit that almost all of us have been, and still are, wary of criticizing Klopp. Hindsight is always 20/ 20.
I think Slot simply went up to Gravenberch and said "if you want your career back on track, you forget your dreams of playing CM/ AM, and play the double pivot role you used to play at Ajax. That's my system. Otherwise, we have offers and you will be eating Turkish kebabs this coming season".
20.) 03 Sep 2024 09:33:43
So saying somebody is bordering on delusional is temperate and calling them delusional is going overboard? Lol, I should qualify my insults saying people are bordering on stupidity more often
I don't think Gravenberch has dreams of playing CM/ AM, ArAy, pretty sure he just wants to play football and play an effective role in a top team, and that probably comes easiest to him playing his natural position. He offers us plenty in an attacking sense even in that deep 6 role too, because he carries the ball and drives towards the box so well, so there's no need to put him further up the field as an 8.
21.) 03 Sep 2024 09:49:38
I literally said I’m not saying he’s the new Zidane or that he’s as good as Zidane and I’m getting called out for comparing him to Zidane! ??♂️
People just read what they want to read it’s totally pointless engaging.
22.) 03 Sep 2024 10:30:09
I literally love how we are all on the same page with Grav that he is doing excellent but we still find a way find a way to bicker.
Grav is playing really well isn't he?
Yes he is but he was crap last season.
I knew he was going to be world class the moment I saw him running on the treadmill in his medical.
I think he is like Zidane.
Zidane? Why don't you marry him if you love him so much.
It has. I said before we should never meet up. It would be dangerous. What's the mass brawl outside the pub about? Not sure. They all said they really like Grav this season then it all kicked off?.
23.) 03 Sep 2024 13:35:42
I disagree Davey we should all definitely meet up because it’s so much easier to have a conversation and put your points across with the context of body language.
People get their backs up online because they misconstrue what’s being said and the context or tone that it’s being said in.
We all have the same goal which is to see Liverpool win everything (apart from Victor, Walter and Harry of course) so we’d all get along like a house on fire regardless of our varying views on players, the club or tactics.
I love all you guys you are part of my Liverpool family!
24.) 03 Sep 2024 18:05:14
Grav actually does something that reminds me of Patrick Viera. It is when he finds a yard of space, opens up his long legs and with a few strides, he carries the ball 10 or 15 yards quickly helping turn defence into attack.
Just like Beckers, I'm not saying he is as good as Viera or that he is the next Viera. He just reminds me of him in that respect.
20 May 2024 08:56:47
Right then. Have we signed anyone yet? Arne Out.
1.) 20 May 2024 09:13:34
Nice one - I was thinking the same thing and am really pleased it has been done as a joke.
2.) 20 May 2024 11:17:48
I’m awaiting all the gambling puns the press will make if we are going through a rough spell.
31 Mar 2024 17:15:21
I know we all wanted Xabi Alonso me included.
But when you watch the snooze-ball that Pep and Arteta serve up every week It might not be a bad thing our next manager isn’t Spanish. Tika Taka Bore Fest doesn’t suit us.
1.) 31 Mar 2024 17:21:49
100% LFC8.
This is the most boring game in the last decade
No manager has sent their team out to play football.
2.) 31 Mar 2024 17:23:26
Lfc8. I'm not sure it's city v arsenal or Burnley v sheff utd here! Awful poor game, v disappointing.
3.) 31 Mar 2024 17:55:59
I hope the bore all the way to a nil nil draw. That will do nicely.
4.) 31 Mar 2024 18:10:26
I fell asleep for a good portion of it as well. Tedious stuff.
5.) 31 Mar 2024 18:28:33
They've done exactly that Davey.
Life is good.
6.) 31 Mar 2024 18:36:30
Watching the city v arsenal game . the amount of times City centre halves fall to the ground when City attack when challenged (not fouls ) . not noticed it bfr . must be a tactic they use .
7.) 31 Mar 2024 18:50:58
Can we win all 9 remaining fixtures. Some tough looking games, Villa away, Spurs at home, West Ham away, Utd away.
8.) 31 Mar 2024 18:59:39
Arsenal played almost the entire game with 6 defenders (their wingers playing very deep) . And have done it quite a few times during the season. Bore fest? Perhaps, but if it keeps teams from losing, they will use it. It feels more like a loss for ManCity than for Arsenal.
9.) 31 Mar 2024 19:04:50
Certainly seems possible. But I hope we hammer ManU in the worst way possible, just to make up for that FA Cup game.
10.) 31 Mar 2024 19:17:19
Hessle, yes we can win them all. Today will be a huge lift to the squad and we’ve got players in there who have the experience and a manager who can get them going. We can win 9 out of 9.
11.) 31 Mar 2024 20:37:52
We need to play the best we can in the next game, that’s all that matters. If we play to the best of our ability that’s all we can ask for.
12.) 31 Mar 2024 20:59:05
We might still end up with a Spanish manager!
Still some tough games left but if you want to win trophies you have to win some tough games.
13.) 31 Mar 2024 22:56:08
The first game btw both teams was a bore-fest as well. Arsenal got a smash and grab off a jammy deflected goal near the end. Were it not for that? Goalless btw both teams in both games. Smelly stuff.
04 Oct 2023 08:28:38
When your at traffic lights and there’s an old woman crossing the road
The lights turn green but she’s still not crossed yet.
Do you wait? Or shout “I can’t do nothing” out the window, and send her flying into the bus stop? ?.
1.) 04 Oct 2023 08:49:46
You would already be stopped, wouldn't you?
{Ed001's Note - my god you really are not very bright are you?}
2.) 04 Oct 2023 10:51:51
Apparently people run over now!
3.) 04 Oct 2023 12:52:13
That’s actually a great analogy. When we throw common sense and what is right out of the window in favour of protocol then we are all truly screwed.
4.) 04 Oct 2023 13:54:48
Think the reason why so many people jump to the thinking of corruption is that is so stupid noone could be that thick to cock it up this bad ?.
5.) 04 Oct 2023 14:54:09
Honestly that's exactly it Bean - whilst I do not wish to believe that our officials are dodgy, the narrative from the PGMOL seems to be simply asking us to believe that they really are this stupid, do not know the even basic rules such as penalties for fouls in the box, blatant handballs etc; and that rewriting the rules as they go along is ok.
And on top of the mind-blowing incompetency we see in these, what I like to call the 'what in the holy h*** was that? ' type calls given or not given in games, we are led to believe from the PGMOL that simply saying sorry and standing those officials down from duty for a week is enough.
The fact that the PGMOL do not seem to think actually tackling this problem is inconceivable and leads people to believe that their reluctance to deal with the blatantly obvious issues must be indicative of something far more sinister at work behind the scenes.
6.) 04 Oct 2023 16:45:11
I do wonder if the PGMOL would be open to paying their Goal/ Assist bonuses if Diaz and Mo were due any. It seems only fair.
21 Jul 2023 16:31:21
Been at work all day. No signal on my phone.
I’ve Come home and checked on here and we’ve signed nobody. It’s not good enough ?.
1.) 21 Jul 2023 17:01:17
F$G out!
2.) 21 Jul 2023 20:27:33
More like we haven't sold anyone you mean.
This Saudi thing seems to have thrown the plans up in the air perhaps.
As commented below, I think we need 3 or 4 in now, with only a few weeks to go before the season starts.
Usually that level of change is difficult to deal with for a host of reasons.
Personally I think the loss of the two senior English lads, Henderson and Milner, could be problematic.
A British core to a PL team is a positive, So we need the likes of Robertson and Trent to step up.
In hindsight, if the club knew of this Saudi factor, surely they wouldn't have let Milner go?
I hope that decision doesn't bite us in the rear end now.
3.) 21 Jul 2023 20:44:28
Spot on, Juicer. We haven't sold Diaz yet so that's a good thing. As for who we sign, we're going to all have to continue drinking a tall glass of patience every morning, IMO.
4.) 21 Jul 2023 20:46:39
A new midfielder gives 7 without including Morton, clark etc or Trent who can play in there. Rather we spent more on 1 midfielder who is already good to go than 2 players who need more time. Plus we need a centre half so no chance we get 3 in unless we get someone in fairly cheap.
5.) 21 Jul 2023 21:01:19
We don’t have a number 6, let alone a backup to the number 6! Bajčetić Is a talented lad, but needs time to develop physically. Imagine buying only one CDM and he gets a bad injury, who is going to play week in week out?
6.) 21 Jul 2023 23:26:42
Trent, Thiago, Jones, Bajcetic, MacAllister can all play #6 if needed. Especially if Trent is deployed as the inverted RB as it offers the #6 more cover.
7.) 22 Jul 2023 00:23:02
I'm available to play 6 and an inverted 9, at the same time ?.
8.) 22 Jul 2023 01:37:50
We won't be short of numbers. Quality is what matters.
The 4 midfielders already gone, everyone is happy about. The 2 looking likely to leave haven't been their best on the pitch in 2 years but it is scary potentially losing all that experience.
Mac Allister and Szob in though, two very good signings so far. More will be signed yet. More will continue to progress like Curtis Jones, Elliott and Bajcetic.
Relax and stay positive, we will be much better this season.
9.) 21 Jul 2023 22:24:02
Didn’t Jones play as a 6 in under 21s?
{Ed001's Note - I always saw him play in attack there, but I didn't watch every game.}
10.) 21 Jul 2023 22:30:11
Baj has actually played more first team games in the left and right midfield role than he has at Dm.
And for me he looks far better in the left and right roles.
11.) 22 Jul 2023 07:16:01
Square pegs for round holes Skezza!
19 Sep 2024 19:35:11
He always sounded to me like a bloke who delivers your Dominos.
Zubimendi is on the way ?? he’s also Propping La Liga up in 16th place and walking around Mountains in his spare time ? ?.
17 Sep 2024 18:35:38
Originally I suspected the players were waiting to see the ambition of the club after Klopp, or basically waiting to see if we fell off a cliff under Slot.
But when you hear Salah and Virgil coming out in public and stating they simply have had nothing off the club in terms of Contracts.
Then you just assume it’s another Hughes disaster and he’s once again, Failing at his job like he did in the window.
08 Sep 2024 13:22:51
? You really need to stop sticking stuff through that hole Stuie. That TicTac you posted through last week stank like Ten Haags midfield.
08 Sep 2024 09:38:50
Off a bloke In the boozer! ? these are my favourite rumours and always will be. Keep them coming Janmo lad.
Ed002 actually gets all his info from the same Pub mate, but if you want the legit rumours, you need to stand in the bog cubicle and overhear the whispers.
07 Sep 2024 09:53:11
Let’s hope so. He’s still the best.
10 Oct 2024 21:11:22
Salah and Virg said in public the club haven’t discussed their contracts mate.
Trying to replace our Top Goal Scorer. Our best Defender (captain) . And our most creative, top assist player.
It’s an absolute disaster.
08 Oct 2024 16:25:30
Liverpool top of the league, Liverpool Liverpool top of the league!
07 Oct 2024 18:24:55
I hope he does well. I think Peps problem at Liverpool (along with Jurgan) was when things weren’t going well on the pitch we were too stubborn to change it!
All that inverted nonsense and late substitutions, passing it around the back. We just didn’t change it when we needed to and that put a slight dampner of the last couple of seasons.
07 Oct 2024 18:18:04
That’s the dream Oli.
07 Oct 2024 15:18:38
? nice one lads! Put it this way Shappy, Arne Slot is our second favourite manager in the premier league after your guy ??.
