Can someone, maybe ed001 please try and explain to me what on earth is going on with this team? Unrecognisable from last year, completely shot of confidence and ability to break down opponents. I just don’t get it. I’m starting to think Klopp might have lost the dressing room or everyone is just burnt out because this is starting to get quite worrying. Said it before and will say it again, this reminds me of how we were playing when Rodgers got sacked.

Well Ed01 has already said his opinion last week. It’s a small blip and things going to be alright soon. Not sure what would change in one week.

OP, you’re overthinking this. Tell me apart from maybe Diaz and Salah, what player looks fully fit to you? If you watched the game, you could literally tell what the boys were trying to do BUT their bodies could not follow thru. It was painful to watch.

Napoli didn’t have to do much really. They were fitter, sharper hence, more in their game. IMO, we are paying for the exertions of last season BUT as Ed01 said, it’s a blip and things will get better. As for bringing Rodgers into it pls, do not mention that name in any comparison with this team Klopp has built. Doing that, is a slap in the face to this legendary team and the manager who built it, IMO.

{Ed025's Note - but was it fatigue or apathy oli? 7 games in you would think they would be fairly fresh. Diaz was excellent but I don’t know how you think mo was in that bracket mate. He has been awful for a while now and is part of the problem..

This isn't a small blip, in my opinion. I've no idea what needs doing to fix it and worryingly, at this moment in time, neither does Klopp. I can't remember the last time we had so many players out of form at the same time. Apart from Alisson, Diaz and maybe Elliott no one else is anywhere near where they should be. You can afford to carry a couple of players who aren't quite at it, but to carry 9 is impossible.
I never expected anything, result wise, from last night's game, but what I was hoping for was an improvement in performance. What we got was the most abject display I can recall in years and more worrying was the lack of commitment from certain, if not nearly every player. That is completely unacceptable. I could go on and I'm not saying anything different to what's already been said.

I will be there at the next game doing all I can as a supporter. I just hope the players do the same.

{Ed025's Note - good post that Rome..

I’m and never will be klopp out and I reached this point in the united away game where I saw no fight! Poor form I can deal with but no fight or determination is disgraceful and unacceptable. I’m sure keita is stirring some minds up off the pitch and I think for the first time last night klopp openly saw a new direction is needed. Always keep the faith reds.

This is the type of challenge that separates the good from the great. Klopp walked away from Dortmund when things got really bad, but this is different. he signed a new contract and committed to the rebuild.
This could be really enjoyable if we can all ride the storm and not throw the toys out the pram.

Olired, you think Salah looks fully fit? He's so blunt at the min its unbelievable.

We have problems across the park at the min but all we can do is keep going and hope something clicks.

Teams are having constant success down our left side, Trent is always going to get forward and that's a big part of our game but something needs to be done about that.

Matip needs to start when ever fit for me, trouble is he's made out of pringles.

Virj doesn't seem very confident right now, maybe that's a personal issue but maybe he doesn't have faith in the other defenders right now.

Robbo whilst still a grafter looks tired and his crossing from dead balls, corners in particular are frustrating, too often they don't beat the first man.

Midfield we know the issue, injuries + ageing players. Fab has been off it for a while but he's still the best holding mid we have at the min so hopefully he will sharpen up with playing time.
Nice to see Thiago back, if we could only keep him fit he would make a huge difference.

Harvey has been a shining light so far, he's a young lad so you expect mistakes but with the exception of Diaz, Elliot has shown the rest of the squad up so far so hats off for that.

The front 3 for me is our biggest issue. In the past when ever we would concede goals we always knew we could outscore the opposition. The current front 3, who are all individually brilliant, don't seem to have the fluidity of Mane, Bobby and Salah when they were at their peak.
They where a nightmare to play against, if one lost the ball or tried a little flick you always knew one of the others would be there to pick it up. Defenders had to try to play against all 3 at the same time it seemed.

What i mean by that is that currently it seems like they are 3 individual players and not playing as a unit.

Salah is well off the boil but again, he needs to play through it. He got the huge contract he wanted, now its time to show why.

Also our play doesn't seem as direct as it used to be, granted we have Nunez so we will play more crosses into the box but in my opinion we have more success playing direct and getting touches in the opposition box.

we just have to ride the storm out and hope the front 3 gel, I'm sure they will but it is a waiting game I feel.

Great Post Rome.

We're currently 7 games into what will likely be a 50 game club season minimum so we will only realistically know what kind of blip it is once we come out of the other end.

If all of a sudden we find form soon and go on a great run then it'll be put down as a small blip in the season. If we don't and these performances and results continue then I'm sure some will claim its a small blip but it will be far more worrying and damaging to the season.

We're far from crisis mode but if this continues then we will evidently get closer and closer to it as the weeks and months go on.

I think we will come good again but something has definitely changed, we used to be the fittest team in the league run more and have more sprints than anyone, really going for 95+ mins, now the lads look leggy and maybe a bit burnt out, we aren't pressing as a unit and that in turn allows the high line to be exposed. Napoli last night looked like us 3 years ago, hungry, full of running and energy.
But we still support the good times and the bad and we go again c'mon boys YNWA.

Ed25 and Ashy, I said Salah is fully fit cos he ALWAYS is. That said, he does not look fit due to the way he is playing and that goes for a ton of other players out there last night. I do agree that we got to ride the storm cos there is no other solution overall. May be we tweak the system a bit here and there BUT in reality, we got to stick it out cos NOBODY is coming/ going to save us BUT well, US.

{Ed025's Note - mo might be physically fit oli but I don’t know about mentally. His touch has been off for a while and has effected games very little this season and a while before if I’m honest. Still a great talent but needs to get his act together along with some of the other so called superstars mate..

Thanks for everyone’s replies which made for interesting reading. I trust Klopp to fix this, however that may be and I certainly don’t want him gone, but I will mention Rodgers because that is how we are playing. Nice possession with no penetration, defence all over the place and none of our players, save Diaz, looks like they can beat a man which is vital to outnumbering the opposition in segments on the pitch, pulling defences out of position and creating chances. We all took the much of UTD in recent years for putting endless crosses into the box and having lots of meaningless possession because they couldn’t do anything else and that’s is what we are doing now. I can’t remember the last time Salah dribbled around or outpaced his marker. Results wise I’m not too bothered. Every team has a blip at some point in the season so if this is ours that’s fine. But the standard and style of the performances being put out by a team that has come the closest in modern history to doing a quadruple only a few months back is quite worrying. Personally I don’t buy that they are not fit. They train everyday for weeks on end and are paid to be ready to play as a minimum. If they weren't physically ready I don’t think Klopp would put players on the team sheet out of principle.

Ed25, you're singing to the choir, bro. Im just not one for scapegoating and digging out players when clearly, there are multiple candidates underperforming massively. If I'm going to scapegoat, I will scapegoat them ALL, which is not the point of scapegoating now, is it? LOL.

{Ed025's Note - fair point oli..
