I don’t get why everyone seems to think the system is a problem. Our results improved massively once we changed to it last season and so did our defending.

Yes it can leave us vulnerable down our right side but everyone tells me Trent can’t defend so we’ve been vulnerable down that side for 5 years and won everything there is to win.

Every system has vulnerabilities and it’s down to Klopp and the players to learn it and tweak it until they are down to minimum.

When we first started playing the high line it looked kamikaze but we learnt it and won everything so why will this be any different?

I quite like it actually, it’s risky but that’s how we’ve always been under Klopp. Get it right and you can beat anyone, get it wrong and you can look a bit silly.

I’m excited.

I'm excited too! I think our games will be a great watch haha.

But regards the system, I think the flaws are far too risky and would prefer we just played Trent in midfield and played someone else at RB to bring some stability. Just looks like we're scrambling without the ball and I'm not sure I can recall another title chasing team look as ragged as we do hahah.

You need a lot of players to make this system work. Both Robertson and Tsmiskas should be sent home. The system doesn't facilitate the need of any full back. It needs a world class Left center back which we don't have. It also need a world class holding midfielder again we don't have. So that's the issue.
we do not have the players yet for this system.
The syetem unlike a 4-3-3 is very complex. You ask your full back to run diagonally from midfield to full back role and then ask your midfielders to drop back.

Oh and on another note. Darwin Nunez the record singing doesn't simply fit into Hybrid system.

I think it's just too convoluted. In addition, although we did have a good run at the tail end of the season using the system, we didn't really beat anyone of note and not by a seriously clear margin.

So, even when it does work, it still leaves us very prone.

I'm still excited for the season, don't get me wrong, but I really hope we get a specialist DM and a couple more, then revert to keeping things simple.

asking a defensive midfielder to run diagonally from midfield to fullback multiple times a game is a sure fire way to kill that player and have them wanting to leave. but maybe we can find a sucker who just likes to run?

This new system would have been fine two seasons. We have been extremely successful with playing fullbacks really high and being able to pin teams in with a high line in the past. This was the risk-reward coming off. Even in the season when we had no defenders, once we got our midfield and attack purring again, the opposition couldn't get the ball or the time on it to launch any attacks. We would go through games with barely a shot off target against us, never mind on target.

However, the new reality is that the PL's defenders and goalkeepers have all become incredibly press resistant and the standed of coaching has improved in the PL dramatically. Teams like Brighton are now capable of goading top teams to press them so they can break it. Our classic counterpress is not enough. We need to adapt and increasingly, I have doubts as to whether this coaching team is capable of coaching that level of tactical flexibility. I hope I am wrong.

I have been vocal about adding new ideas/ voices to the coaching team. I am disappointed that we haven't done that as this group has been together, bar the addition of Taffarel, since 2019. Note, Guardiola's backroom changes again after winning a treble.

When Trent finds himself in left midfield he started dropping into the LB spot, when he is right midfield he goes to RB! The back 3 when we go forward know where they should be on the counter, just need to perfect it.

As BP stated, we were caught out a lot with the high line originally, some fans and pundits criticised the tactics/ system. Then it clicked and we got to witness the best team in world footballer.

Salah wasn't a "world class" player when we brought him, people moaned about his signing.

I keep chiming in with this opinion and am boring myself, let alone you lot. So I'm now going to focus on Sunday and getting of to a flyer against Chelsea. ?.

Parma-voilet19.Well the change is system or more importantly tactics saw many so called fan berate the midfielders are being past it no legs etc.
When in fact the change from high press caused us and especially the defence being under far more pressure as the midfield was by passed regularly. No signings would have fixed that. It was a completely bizarre change of tactics which unbelievably was continued with until achieving top 4 was effectively gone.

BP, the system does not suit the players we have cos we do not have the players to play it. The system left us very exposed even last season and many focus was saying it back then so this is nothing new. We cannot continue to ignore what we are saying just cos we got good results last season. They is a tiny sample size compared to now that it seems Klopp will persist wit it for now. I joke we do well for sure but the fears are ther and have been there and should not be ignored.
