Eds, to me it's been a strange auld season, the rise of arsenal and Chelsea awful campaign to name 2. Do you think the timing of the world Cup has been a factor?

I think it was bad start and it just snowballed. Some poor decision making throughout the season by management and players underperforming. I'm not sure world cup had much to do with.
What's encouraging is the big improvement at the end and the emergence of Bajectic and Jones.

Well it didn’t affect Arsenal, United and Newcastle. Surely it can’t be an issue with some clubs and not others, and we weren’t too hot before the WC either .

I stand by what I said a few months ago - someone at the club overthought the impact of the World Cup and didn’t get the players fit enough (physically or mentally) in time for the start of the season. Meant we had a bad start and were always playing catch-up.

For some on here we may as well scrub the youth set up if they are not to be given a chance
Remember the midfield depth is as it is cos the manager didn't want to buy last summer. the funds were there. I'd expect a couple of more signings and hope some of the young players get a chance to cover.

We the reds. Those figures are nonsense.
Our wage bill alone in 2 seasons is in excess of £600 million. No doubt promoting the net spend myth. Did you add all the agents fees and associated fees?

For me it's a relatively cheap deal if a preferred choice does not materialise. And If does a decent back up.

The club will have a fee in. mind they are willing to spend. They could buy someone else for 80 million because they believe its a fair price.

Parma-voilet19.Well the change is system or more importantly tactics saw many so called fan berate the midfielders are being past it no legs etc.
When in fact the change from high press caused us and especially the defence being under far more pressure as the midfield was by passed regularly. No signings would have fixed that. It was a completely bizarre change of tactics which unbelievably was continued with until achieving top 4 was effectively gone.
