With TAA coming back to fitness soon what are peoples opinion on him coming back into the team? The lad has a lot to offer on the ball but you can’t argue with results which have been all wins since his injury…do we take Gomes out and potentially disrupt our flow and run of form with a view to creating more or do we stick and allow Gomes to continue until his performance level drops?

For me you don’t significantly change a winning formula and it would do no harm have Trent fight for his place.

Trent comes back in, OP. It's what will happen. He is the starter and Gomez is the back up at RB and at CB. The roles are clearly defined. Just my take.

Would love to see TAA alongside a fit Thiago in midfield. Their passing ability combined with Mac and Sobo, would be special.

Unless there is some kind of issue, I can see Thiago slotting back into the team when he is fit. He'll be a welcome addition and alongside the new thoroughbreds in the midfield I think we'll see him have a nice little purple patch to end the season.

Ridiculous question. We were winning with Trent in the team as well. I prefer Gomez at cb over Matip personally but matip did well at weekend so will see what Klopp likes.

Europa league is going to allow a lot of fringe players plenty of game time this season which is nice to see.

Thiago isn’t a starter - who is he going to replace? And when was the last time he was fit. Great footballer but in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think our first choice back-line is currently Trent-Konate-VVD-Robertson and I would expect Klopp to stick with these four when they are all fit. Trent may not immediately come into the fold and may be eased in so I would still expect Gomez to start the next few games at RB with maybe Trent being a substitute, or vice versa.

Thiago will play this season. Always just needs a run of games without injury.

Sitting him behind any of jones, geav, dom or mac. Wouldn't make us weaker.

This is the most technically gifted midfield I've ever had the privilege to watch, for the reds and in my opinion the strongest midfield Klopps had.

Which, in the grand scheme of things, should really send shivers down every other team in the prem and Europe.

He's never had it like this but as with klopp he is always a little short somewhere. Never been blessed like Pep, who never really had to think. Just plan a match with the richest team at his disposal.

For example klopps defensive additions will probably come at the same time as he loses Mo. It's never simple for him.

Interesting thread this. I was going to post about what people see as Thiago’s role.

For me in this team he can only really play as one of the two 8s higher up the pitch. Typically for us his best work has been on the left of the mid 3. That position is occupied with Jones, who for me offers far more than Thiago does in that position.

Then Elliot and Gravenberch will need game time and Szobo has made the right side his own. Not to mention Mac allister who no doubt longer term will be moved higher up the pitch.

For me that renders Thiago as surplus to requirements. He is a great talent and I love watching him play, but he never was the right fit for this team. Time to move on in my eyes, hopefully we can recieve some funds in a January sale.
