Dislocation will be fine by international break unless there's associated injury.

Liverbird - Have you ever dislocated your shoulder?

Ooooo oooo. Me. I have. Currently waiting for a full replacement at 32 so maybe I can weigh in.

My understanding of it is this, most dislocations if given appropriate physiotherapy and time to heal should usually be fine. It’s when the second dislocation occurs in a short space of time that is really concerning.
Statistically, once you dislocate for a second time, you are far more likely to dislocate again and again, as the shoulder is a ball and socket joints with muscles and ligaments holding that together. With subsequent dislocations the surrounding tissue becomes weaker and weaker, meaning a much smaller threshold for trauma. Eventually with enough repeated trauma the shoulder will end up riddled with arthritis.

Having said all of this, this is mostly true for the common man on an nhs waiting list. I would expect the club doctors to be careful. Having said that, it simply comes down to how Robbos shoulder reacts to it, and whether or not that joint is put under substantial pressure in the first 12 months.

I would expect a recovery time of 8-12 weeks for a full dislocation ( requires manipulation by doctors) Closer to a 6 week recovery for a partial dislocation ( joint finds its own way back into place) .

Hope this helps.

Depends on whether there's an associated ligament tear or whether there's an associated fracture or very rarely nerve or arterial injury. also on the type of dislocation. but i expect him to have something associated maybe ligament strain or so because otherwise he wouldn't have left the national duty. infact the staff would have relocated there itself. rohit sharma (a cricketer) dislocated his shoulder in match and he himself relocated it???well the most common complication of dislocation of shoulder is recurrent dislocation. its because unlike say hip the shoulder doesn't have bone at all the sides. mainly dependent on the ligaments and muscles for holding it in place. the opponent gk fell on top of him that's why he dislocated right? but since they are sportsmen they probably will get the best treatment available. and i expect the club to take safe approach. we have tsimi to play anyway. but man screw the international duty.

I badly dislocated my shoulder 3 years ago and I’m still not right. I don’t have full movement and can’t lift weights or lift anything above my head.
He’s a professional athlete and will have world class medical care though rather than just be sent home in a sling with some strong painkillers so he will be fit again sooner than me.
However it’s one of them injuries that can linger and reoccur, he’s not going to be able to just shrug this one off in a few weeks. There’s the mental aspect to it as well, you worry your going to do it again for a long time and it takes ages to shrug that off, I imagine as a defender even more so, you tend to use your shoulder when going one on one with an attacker.
Remember Salah when he did his? He didn’t look right again for a long while.

Livebird031, it also depends on the level or grade of the dislocation if dislocation, there was. If it was of the lowest level then Robbo should be okay in a couple of weeks, IMO. Not a doctor. Just giving my opinion.
