He's my player of the season so far, only 26, still keeping fit despite the amount of game time he's having, going on his history it's pretty special what we're seeing from him this season. A real talent he is, I'm absolutely delighted for him. All I want from him is to see him score because he's clearly trying hard, sooner we see that the better.

He is invaluable to the squad and I don't want to take anything away from him but the game changed instantly when we brought somebody on who can play in the 6 role. When Mac came on in the 6 role immediately started playing like we have all season and Soton suddenly couldn't get out of their own half.

Like I say - not a criticism of Gomez, he did well in the circumstances but it just shows the importance of a good 6.

No, he may not be a typical number 6 but he made a big contribution to another clean sheet.

Clearly he wasn't comfortable and he was having a hard time last night. Professional level football is no joke, and you can't pick up the nuances of the skills required for each position, in a few trainings and a match or two. But overall, he fulfilled what was required for an injury ravaged team.

ArAy1969, I thought he did okay at DM even tho I agree, I wouldn't want him playing DM vs a better team. Not sure Klopp would want that either, if he can help it.
