United fan here. Many congratulations for being Kings of Europe. For me the way you played the whole campaign and win it is more beautiful than actually winning the trophy itself. Enjoy the occasion.

{Ed0333's Note - thanks maestro you’re humility and class is recognized and appreciated

United fan here. Excellent performance by Liverpool against Barcelona. I think Liverpool totally deserve to win both UCL and PL based on pure merit and high quality. To make Messi keep quiet for 90 mins is a tough ask. As a United fan it is tough to swallow you winning PL and CL, if Liverpool (any team) win trophies based on pure class and merit it is better to appreciate them and get stronger next season and fight them. Good luck for CL final and PL final game as well.

I have to say it's been impressive seeing many United fans posting their congrats here. Considering the season ye have had and we are having it's very nice to see ye showing respect and admiration towards us.

It's easy to feel bitter as a fan of rival teams performing but fair play

Huge respect from me.

Why Liverpool playing PL away games continuously (spurs this week) without any home game?
Stadium upgradation? or fixtures are like that?

midfield_maestro

{Ed001's Note - stadium. We asked Burnley to switch the game and they obliged.}

1.) 25 Aug 2016 07:05:53
Think it's us who obliged given the abject performance.

2.) 25 Aug 2016 07:11:59
We should be thankful they were cool enough to oblige with the current Danny ings saga that is still dragging on

Hats off to them.

3.) 25 Aug 2016 07:23:06
Oh that explains it then. We agreed to not score to reverse the fixture. Ok, got it now thanks.

4.) 25 Aug 2016 09:28:25
I'm not sure Kemlyn, as the had the advantage of another home game.

5.) 25 Aug 2016 10:26:31
It's not that they have 'another home game', like an extra one. The two Liv v Burn fixtures just got reversed. They won't have 20 home and 18 away and is the opposite. Later in the season, when it was set to be at Turf Moor, it will now be at Anfield. Thus balancing it out.

{Ed023's Note - The fact that this has to be explained has me worried}

6.) 25 Aug 2016 10:51:52
I know Ed023! Scary stuff! 😱.

7.) 25 Aug 2016 19:38:05
Davey, we play everybody twice, home and away

We will have 3 home games on the bounce after Christmas

There is no advantage or disadvantage

We lost because of poor defending, not because all the seats in the upper main stand were not bolted in on time.

United fan here, just checking preparation of all big clubs for new season. With Liverpool to play Barcelona tomorrow do u people expect Klopp to field his strongest starting line up and they play for 75+ minutes to fine tune for Arsenal game? or is it another pre season friendly?
I expect it is a good test for your defense against Messi and Suarez. Arsenal are close to playing style as Barca.

midfield_maestro

1.) 05 Aug 2016 06:48:26
We have a friendly against Mainz immediately after Wembley. I expect Klopp to field a strong team which will feature against Arsenal.

2.) 05 Aug 2016 07:14:28
It's a pre-season friendly the purpose of which is match fitness. Perhaps 50% of the starting line-up for Arsenal will play.

3.) 05 Aug 2016 08:10:05
Whoever arranged this was on point. Testing our defence against MSN. But the question is what is our first team defensive pairing?

4.) 05 Aug 2016 08:35:35
They didn't arrange it to test against 'msn' lol. Neymar is at the Olympics and who knows how much the others will play. Besides the system they play is unlike anything we play in the league so not a great test anyway. It's about fitness and leave it at that. If we really want to test our defence then we should play stoke all pre season to learn how to defend set pieces!

5.) 05 Aug 2016 08:36:52
Keague, If u are a settled and stable team then it is a normal game for fitness but Liverpool bought many new players, testing how they fit in should also be considered apart from fitness i think. This applies to United, City and to a certain extent to Chelsea also. Arsenal and Spurs have a settled side I believe.

6.) 05 Aug 2016 08:53:20
Neymar is at the Olympics xpertoyin.

I'm going so I'm hoping both sides put strong teams out and I think we will arrange least, the mainz game I'm not so sure.

7.) 05 Aug 2016 09:24:45
I hope are best X11 play tomz and the the rest play Sunday.

8.) 05 Aug 2016 09:30:18
Can see klopp going with what he thinks is his starting 11 for arsenal against barca. At least I think it would make sense.

9.) 05 Aug 2016 09:38:38
Spurs scored the most goals from set pieces last season Leicester second, stoke were joint 16th and have been moving away from that long ball style for some time so perhaps playing them all pre season wouldn't help that much with set pieces.

10.) 05 Aug 2016 09:47:42
Week out from the season starting you want to have some combinations working. That's just natural phasing for any sport. Fitness still a priority for sure. But if that's the only thing at this stage then ya may have taken your eye off the ball.

11.) 05 Aug 2016 10:36:27
He may just play the ones who are least Jet Lagged.
Whenever I've flown home from the USA it always takes me 2 weeks to get over it. But then again. I'm not as fit as the players 😉.

12.) 05 Aug 2016 10:48:52
Jet lag is nothing to do with physical fitness. But players used to travelling often to different time zones for European games, internationals etc should be more resilient to it.

13.) 05 Aug 2016 11:59:24
For the poster who disagreed with my post, which part do you disagree with?

Neymar at the Olympics? Nah can't be that because he is.

About me going the game tomorrow? Nah can't be that because I am.

Hoping both sides put out strong sides? Nah can't be that, because I haven't given an opinion on whether they will or won't just hoping they do.

Not being sure if they will put a strong side out for the mainz game? Again can't be that because not being sure if they'll put a strong team out for that game isn't giving an opinion either way.

Wonder what part of that post and this post somebody will find disagreeable? Considering both were factual and neither had an opinion on anything, mmmmm interesting 🌞🌞⚽⚽🍺🍺👍👍👍.

14.) 05 Aug 2016 11:34:40
You asked our opinion m_m, I gave you mine, but I have no idea what tomorrow's line-up or the arsenals game will be.

15.) 05 Aug 2016 14:56:18
Sometimes it's just trolls waro, just ignore them. doesn't matter what you, Ron keague and MK post and you'll get people disagreeing with no reason. Even Harry gets a few totally unjustified in any way.

16.) 05 Aug 2016 15:16:20
I know swish, and I don't normally comment on this subject but find it a bit bizarre that people disagree when there was no opinion given on anything in particular in the post, so it must just be the name at the bottom! I think I'll get around 26 disagrees on this post (fingers crossed) hahaha 😂.

17.) 05 Aug 2016 21:06:48
Waro. Trolls come here just to disagree. I cannot imagine for the life of me why they waste their time though.

18.) 06 Aug 2016 00:44:20
Waro. I disagreed over excessive use of emojis. :-p.

Man united fan here. I read a post down here about "replacing Suarez with Balotelli and Lambert rather than building a team around Suarez". Do you guys think it is possible to keep Suarez in Liverpool or in United (if we signed him instead of u) when Barca at the peak of their powers want him? Impossible for any club in PL. Those loyal days of Gerrard, Giggs, Scholes etc are over.

In the past we were unable to keep Ronaldo, Chelsea were unable to keep Robben, Liverpool can't hang on to Alonso from the attraction of Real madrid. Arsenal were unable to keep Song from Barca.

In my opinion any PL team which can produce world class talents from their youth system, making them to taste PL titles and CL success with high frequency(like what current Barca is doing) can stop Barca or Real from stealing players from their club.

PL clubs are signing laliga dropouts like Ozil, Sanchez, Dimaria, Fabregas etc

Next in Real and Barca's hit list are Coutinho, Hazard, David Silva, Aguero, Pogba, Degea, Veratti. I don't know how city are still hanging on to two world class players in Silva, Aguero.

1.) 13 Aug 2015 08:18:52
$$$$$

2.) 13 Aug 2015 09:10:07
Well it was not purely on money. He would have joined Barca regardless of any significant wage rise. Playing alongside Messi is something footballers Dream these days.

Good point regarding Aguero and Silva. Unlike most of their other players, These two love Man City. They have become face of their club. Aguero wouldn't join Real and Barca need not any striker for the next 5 years.
City is the best shout. Money, Fame, Main Man symbol, Titles consistent run in CL.

3.) 13 Aug 2015 09:11:49
Premier league money might help swing it but agree tbh. Coutinho, De Gea, Hazard, and Aguero would leave if given the chance to move to barca or real.

But even if we end up being to pay more (though couldn't see it being much more) they have prestige and tbf lifestyle.

Think maybe chelsea or arsenal might be able to keep players if they can pay more simply for having London to offer.

From liverpool but think manchester is a good city. but if I was a multi-millionaire celebrity footballer. would prefer madrid or barcelona

4.) 13 Aug 2015 09:42:48
I do not think it is that black and white. Suarez always wanted Barcelona, it was where his GF's family moved to when he was in South America. After the Ajax transfer,he went to Barcelona to get his girlfriend. Liverpool also pushed Alonso out when we went for Aqualani.
C. Ronaldo has the type of attitude to etch himself into record books (club loyalties aside), Man Utd is massive, but Real Madrid are branded as the giants of the game from the whole galactico campaign. Ronaldo would look to cement himself as the best of the best, and he had already achieved everything for Man Utd. That and Portuguese and Spanish culture are going to be more aligned.

I think some players will stay in the EPL and will show loyalties i.e. Cech, Ivanovic, Drogba, Aguero (so far), Kompany, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sturridge, Rooney etc.
Depay I do not think is one of them he will more than likely leave, as will others. Will depend on cultures and adaptability, who is challenging, money on offer etc.

5.) 13 Aug 2015 10:24:23
Barca and Real are seen as the two biggest clubs worldwide, the chance to play for them is too good to turn down for many players. Also agree with Astral, culturally Spain would feel a lot more like home to South American players than England. I think it was when Benitez tried to bring in Barry that unsettled Alonso though not Aqualani.

6.) 13 Aug 2015 11:04:00
I think for every player who isn't British, German or Italian Real Madrid and Barcelona are the pinnacle of the game and is the place they want to play. If those teams want you then the player will want to go there. This was the case 10 years ago when English clubs were dominateing the CL, it's even more the case now.

If those clubs don't want you then there is a second tier list which goes something like Bayern (success), Chelsea (success, London), Juventus (Success, Climate), City (Success, Money), Utd (Prestige, Money), AC Milan (Prestige, Climate), PSG (Money), Arsenal (London).

I think a Giggs or a Gerrard would stay at a home club but only if it offered success (don't forget, a key reason Gerrard didn't join Chelsea was Istanbul).

Bottom line, If Barcelona or Real make Depay, Hazard, Aguero or Ramsey, Coutinho, or Erikssen their main target (and the current clubs aren't challenging for the CL) then they will leave.

7.) 13 Aug 2015 11:53:20
Ahoy - players often leave due the strength and quality of the emerging talent at the club.

Alonso & Mascherano left as they were limited by the potential of Jay Spearing !!!!!

BOILED ONIONS

8.) 13 Aug 2015 13:28:22
Alonso may have stayed if he wasnt being pushed out to be replaced by Barry.

However answering your post, Suarez should have been replaced by another Suarez. meaning to say a top player, a single player, not by 6-7 players.

9.) 13 Aug 2015 15:46:47
City don't have a consistant run in the CL Eg

10.) 13 Aug 2015 16:52:35
Fencey

Apparently no one get past Messi and co in the CL mate.
They always end up against Bayern or Barca and no English team could beat either.
