Hi eds, now that Kim Min Jae is out of favour at Bayern, any chance we can grab him?

Leekuanyew

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 09 Apr 2024 21:48:09
Thanks Ed, brilliant.

2.) 10 Apr 2024 16:31:07
That is exactly what we need. A 7th center back.

3.) 10 Apr 2024 17:03:39
To be fair to Leek, there are dozens of posts on the Banter page where everyone agrees, including from Ed002, which say Amorim will need to bring in two centre backs to play his system.

4.) 10 Apr 2024 18:18:43
Is there any chance Liverpool will shock the world and appoint Zidane as Manager?

5.) 10 Apr 2024 18:41:09
@DarwinTheGoat yes, Zidane would love to manage the great LFC but the club would have to move to France.

6.) 11 Apr 2024 16:40:21
It's hard to say what the club needs right now without knowing who will succeed Klopp.

7.) 11 Apr 2024 17:44:17
Whatever happens in the CB department I would really hope Sepp VDB gets an opportunity. I think he could be great.

8.) 12 Apr 2024 18:31:40
Ed002 doesn’t usually answer “any chance…” posts - understandably.
His succinct answer here speaks volumes. Thanks Ed002.

9.) 14 Apr 2024 03:23:35
@Mftonjes - it’s not that hard to say what the club needs right now. I’m thinking they need to get the new manager sorted out.

05 Apr 2024 08:33:49
Hi eds, Alexander Isak give me the Samuel Eto vibes. Is Liverpool interested? Considering Salah going.

Leekuanyew

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 05 Apr 2024 11:15:24
Great player but not really a like for like Salah replacement. He was very good up front with Wilson though, so if we did ever show interest in the future, he could maybe dovetail well with Nunez if the new manager played with 2 up front.

If we were to look at adding a striker, Solanke might be a very good choice for us. Hughes will have good connections at Bournemouth and Solanke already know Liverpool well from his time here. I just don't think it's a priority position though unless there is a huge shift in our style of play this summer so we're unlikely to have any serious interest in strikers right now.

{Ed002's Note - Solanke is of no interest to Liverpool.}

2.) 05 Apr 2024 12:25:13
I'd highly doubt any strikers are of interest to us right now Ed002! It's far from a priority given we are the top scorers in Europe this season and the focus is more likely to be on a more suitable Salah replacement if he decides to go to Saudi.

{Ed002's Note - Out and out strikers, I agree. Liverpool have continued to scout versatile forwards. as you say, a CB and areplacement for Salah will be priorities.}

3.) 05 Apr 2024 14:31:57
Ed002, of all the players/ managers you've mentioned in recent days, Inacio and Neto coming in with Amorim would be nice!

4.) 05 Apr 2024 17:15:24
3 goals in 3 years nd as brittle as Thiago, please don't spend £70/ 80m on a new Kewell, Sturridge or Ox.

5.) 05 Apr 2024 18:59:26
Hey Jude, don't make it bad!

Alexander Isak is 28 matches 17 goals this season in all competitions.

6.) 05 Apr 2024 19:33:30
Neto Lee. isak a good player in fairness.

7.) 05 Apr 2024 19:40:46
Leeku I think Jude is talking about Neto, I might be wrong I was once before.

8.) 05 Apr 2024 20:54:29
Neto won’t be joining Liverpool.

9.) 05 Apr 2024 21:29:50
Neto would be a great addition to most teams but hate to say injuries look like they will mess up his career even at his young age.

10.) 05 Apr 2024 23:10:57
Salah won’t leave Liverpool at the end of the season imo.

11.) 06 Apr 2024 10:13:34
Champs that is probably the most accurate prediction that I have ever seen on here.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is Langland that Salah while being an excellent signing is possibly on the wane, great goalscorer and still an asset but if you are going to get top money for him this may be the optimum time to sell, its a big call mate but all good things come to an end im afraid..

12.) 06 Apr 2024 11:14:14
Neto’s end product is almost non existent and he’s made of crisps.

13.) 07 Apr 2024 10:33:40
the optimum time to sell Salah has passed.
Now it's a case of getting what we can get for him if we decide to sell or just see him play out his contract. I'm at peace with whatever at this stafe.

14.) 07 Apr 2024 11:50:08
I think we have perfected the selling club mentality. We have one of the best players in the world and all we guys want to do is sell him! Are we buying Mbappe with that money then? Replacing him will be one of the hardest tasks for us.

{Ed025's Note - heard it all before Sanjit. keegan. Rush. Fowler. Suarez. Torres.. they all got replaced mate and someone new takes up the mantle. It’s just the way it is..

15.) 10 Apr 2024 12:47:51
It’s a hard task to replace whether we sell Mo this summer or if he leaves for free the following summer.

16.) 11 Apr 2024 19:04:19
thought Neto would be a great signing, but he right now has yet another bad injury, who will pay the big money for him .

16 Mar 2024 21:35:27
Hi Eds, do you know if we are scouting Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham? He is playing well.

Leekuanyew

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool are not scouting him.}

07 Mar 2024 21:32:47
Hi eds, 2 players i like to ask about. Any chance Fabio Cavalho could come back Liverpool? 2nd player is Lucas Paquetá of westham, are we scouting him and what are chances he come Liverpool?

Leekuanyew

{Ed002's Note - FB will be sold. LP is of no interest to Liverpool.}

1.) 07 Mar 2024 21:59:53
Paqueta is potentially facing a ban similar to Toney and Tonali, believe that’s why City pulled out of the deal in the summer last minute.

2.) 07 Mar 2024 22:07:48
Will Fabio carvalho’s future not depend on the new manager? Think he’s a very decent youngster myself.

{Ed002's Note - He will be available to be sold.}

3.) 07 Mar 2024 22:10:05
For a profit?

4.) 07 Mar 2024 22:31:02
Would you value him at 10 million or above? A shame it didn’t work out, I personally think he would be an asset that is likely to get better. But if we sell it would be nice to make a buck, I suppose.

5.) 08 Mar 2024 06:29:58
Be tough for carvalho to get any game time at us . He’s effectively 7/ 8th choice attacker .

With the wealth of talent coming from Kirkby in this next batch of young lads keeping carvalho would be a bad idea .

6.) 08 Mar 2024 08:51:11
There’s no doubt Carvalho is a talented player but from what I hear he’s a bit disruptive in the dressing room.

Wasn’t happy he wasn’t playing and making all kinds of demands. So we sent him to Leipzig to not play there instead.

It’s a shame because if he just showed patience, bided his time he could be a really good Premier League player. Shame he’s not got Elliott’s attitude.

7.) 08 Mar 2024 09:11:07
He's not going to be making an impact in the first team in the near future. It makes sense to sell him. We will get a profit and if we think that there is a chance he will develop into a real quality player we can put a buy-back/ first refusal clause in the deal.

8.) 08 Mar 2024 10:37:16
Could look to another loan in the prem then assess the season after.

9.) 08 Mar 2024 10:23:48
BP, I completely agree with your post there.

I remember back to when Elliot was breaking through and Carvalho was bought, there were comparisons. At the time they were both playing in the front line, both of their 'likely preferred' positions were a No 10 (the Pipco role) and most folks were saying there's nowhere for them to fit in given the system we tend to play.

Elliot has kicked on, adapted his game (as all teenagers/ young players do) and is now a very valuable first team player.

Carvalho, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to have taken the same opportunity.

It's probably best for all parties if he were sold. I think given his age and talent, we should be looking at the £10-£20m range (probably somehwere in between) for him.

10.) 08 Mar 2024 12:27:24
Agree with Jones Red, makes sense.

11.) 08 Mar 2024 19:03:14
@Zed, good post mate - agree with your view of things.

12.) 09 Mar 2024 07:38:07
Hopefully we sell him for a profit. Otherwise take the small loss.

Either way much better situation then being stuck with Prima Donna’s on mega wages and massive transfer fees

Yeah, FSGs way makes sense.

29 Dec 2023 10:29:10
Dear Eds, I really need your advice, Girona is top La Liga ahead of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletico. Surely they have good players Liverpool can pick off. Do you recommend any?

Leekuanyew

{Ed002's Note - What they have is an exceptional coach so if Liverpool were to sack Klopp then it would be worth trying for Michel. As for the players, Daley Blind is having a good season - and is a left footed CB who can also play at LB that you all crave for.}

1.) 29 Dec 2023 11:51:40
Girona are part of City Group, Lee. I’d rather us not have any dealings with them.

2.) 31 Dec 2023 12:20:48
I think that Ed002 is having a laugh with us suggesting that we go for the failed United player Daley Blind who is even older than Virgil.

Slot is a fan of Koopmeiners of Atalanta. Koopmeiners could turn out to be Coup plus for us.

Leekuanyew

1.) 04 May 2024 01:03:50
Is he bald? If not he may help us win the league.

Sorry leak I don't think you're ever going to live that one down.

2.) 04 May 2024 01:04:25
I hope slot is kooping well.

3.) 04 May 2024 06:27:32
Hey, the answer is Guardiola! He is best! 2nd is Zidane! But bith are cheats with unlimited resources. So they don't count.

4.) 04 May 2024 07:52:33
I'm a die hard fan of John Mclaine myself.

01 May 2024 22:58:55
Banter:

Hi eds, not personal attack on anybody. But just to pick your brains on knwledge of game, and out of curiosity.

Did a bald manager ever won premier league, FA cup, UCL league, League cup last 20 yrs?

Leekuanyew

{Ed001's Note - Guardiola, have you heard of him?}

1.) 01 May 2024 23:17:51
This is hilirious. Leek you always unlock a new level.

2.) 01 May 2024 23:25:35
Yes Pep seems to be representing the follicly challenged pretty well on that front, oh and if not for some very creative barbers Conte too.

3.) 01 May 2024 23:44:11
To be fair Ed001, the manager you suggested is pretty obscure ??.

4.) 02 May 2024 00:12:02
Embarrassing.

5.) 02 May 2024 01:58:00
Oh jesus, bloody hell Leek.

6.) 02 May 2024 03:02:34
Arsene wenger was bald too.

{Ed014's Note - maybe on his arse cheeks but not on his head

7.) 02 May 2024 07:36:02
Klopp had a hair transplant, didn't he?

8.) 02 May 2024 07:51:56
Zidane.

9.) 02 May 2024 08:00:13
Zidane and Di Matteo didn’t let being a slap head stop them from winning a champions league, Leek.

10.) 02 May 2024 08:33:28
Conte.

11.) 02 May 2024 09:01:15
Did DiMatteo manage Chelsea to an FA Cup win over us too? Trying not to Google it but nearly sure he did.

12.) 02 May 2024 06:39:54
ed14 - oh is that right? thought we were sharing crazy.

{Ed014's Note - to be fair I’ve not looked ?

13.) 02 May 2024 10:40:19
Oh my god ?????. Brilliant.

14.) 02 May 2024 10:46:41
What’s the definition of bald now slot is bald pep
isn’t ?.

15.) 02 May 2024 11:06:44
Nah, Pep is a slaphead, Reusch. If he grew his hair out he’d have a big bald spot.

{Ed025's Note - he would look like Max Wall VV.. :)

16.) 02 May 2024 11:26:57
Ed1 Pep identifies as wavey curls.

17.) 02 May 2024 12:27:23
??? Max Wall, brilliant Ed25. One of my favourite gags of all time was a Max Wall joke … “I lost my parents when I was 5 ………. but what a game of cards”.

{Ed025's Note - love it WDW..

18.) 02 May 2024 12:36:29
Exactly Ed025. Or Donald and Davey Stott.

19.) 02 May 2024 15:16:43
What Tha Heck?

20.) 02 May 2024 16:55:29
I’d change my username and go start supporting Spurs or sumat ? post of the decade.

21.) 02 May 2024 17:38:08
What is this ucl league that you are speaking of?

22.) 02 May 2024 21:02:09
Picked his brains there Leek ?.

27 Apr 2024 21:43:47
I am seriously worried that FSG got someone from Dutch League. I remember a certain Steve Mclaren who could not find a job in Premier league winning the Dutch League with FC Twente Enschede.

Leekuanyew

1.) 27 Apr 2024 22:39:24
Best thing to do is to not worry. I find it best when people are better than me at something, to let them get on with it. Especially when my reaction won't change a thing.

2.) 27 Apr 2024 22:52:44
Is it FSG or Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes? Think Edwards was brought back to see LFC rebuild again in he's watch.

3.) 27 Apr 2024 23:33:51
Who should we have got?

4.) 27 Apr 2024 23:45:01
I’d be more worried about our upcoming 6 pointers against Villa and Spurs given our leadership group are closer to throttling each other on camera, than they are to setting a good example or guiding us over the finish line.

5.) 28 Apr 2024 00:05:30
Leekuanyew

There is good reason to worry.
Equivalent to the Championship even though the Netherlands produces some very good players.

6.) 28 Apr 2024 00:05:55
It’s true, every manager that’s ever managed in that league is of the same standard

7.) 28 Apr 2024 02:37:56
I’d be concerned if John Henry was ringing the phones to find a new manager. Thankfully he’s not

It’s a normal human thing to get caught up on the barriers. Allow yourself to put the barriers aside and just look at the person, what they do and how they may fit in.

8.) 28 Apr 2024 10:00:08
Leek, if you can genuinely name a better candidate (who actually wants the job, because Alonso didn’t want it), then go ahead and name them. Because not one of Tuchel, Mourinho, Nagelsmann et al would be remotely a good fit for us. Amorim, for what it’s worth, is probably the same level as Slot, as the Portuguese league is not a stronger league than the Dutch league and his record is vaguely similar, he ruled himself out of it with his antics, even if he wanted the job, he soiled himself in public so much that we offered it to someone who didn’t need to think twice. I’m impressed with the way Slot handled the question when asked, but also that he backs himself and is confident he can bring something to the team.

9.) 28 Apr 2024 10:31:34
Agree with that VV. The Amorim public apology was quite the humiliation. Initially thought it might have been a disagreement over strategy and his remit but perhaps it was over his behaviour. Flew to London to speak to West Ham for leverage perhaps? Quite embarrassing and glad we’ve got someone who backs himself this much, giving us a firm yes.

10.) 28 Apr 2024 22:23:40
Leek, FSG don't handle the managerial process. I know I just burst your bubble and there goes your conspiracy theory up in flames. Sorry, not sorry.

09 Apr 2024 15:12:40
Bem-vindo Amorim! YNWA! Auf wiedersehe Herr Klopp, you have been fun while it last. But Liverpool is greater than all its managers, we will miss you but we will not beg you to return. Now with our new Portuguese manager, we will be even stronger!

Leekuanyew

1.) 09 Apr 2024 16:46:11
You can thank me. I was in Lisbon yesterday.

2.) 09 Apr 2024 17:16:24
@Slowdog76. Hopefully you passed through a place called Fatima whilst out there. Should ensure Amorim signs ?.

3.) 09 Apr 2024 17:38:55
I don't know who she is but I'm sure the missus wouldn't have approved.

4.) 09 Apr 2024 18:02:08
It’s actually a catholic holy place. Get your mind out the gutter ???.

5.) 09 Apr 2024 19:54:29
The only religious experience I've had out here was pastel del Belem in lisbon. Absolutely godly.

6.) 09 Apr 2024 19:54:33
Amorim is michael Edwards chosen one. In fact rumours has that Alonso announced to stay in Leverkusen to save his own blushes, because Liverpool chose Amorim and not Alonso.

{Ed025's Note - jackanory, jackanory.. :)

7.) 09 Apr 2024 20:18:07
Billy, thank you! Its taken me back 40+ years to hear the phrase "jackanory, jackanory"!

8.) 09 Apr 2024 20:18:12
Ed25 I know, right?

9.) 09 Apr 2024 21:05:03
I'll have what ever Leek is on.

10.) 09 Apr 2024 23:32:54
Oh no, not another Garth Crooks post.

11.) 09 Apr 2024 23:45:31
Rome1977, now why would you want to look and sound like that? ?.

12.) 10 Apr 2024 07:14:47
This is why I tell my kids to stay away from the crack pipe.
No good comes of it.

13.) 10 Apr 2024 09:52:07
Here’s hoping your kids heed your advice, Flash, and that awful affliction skips a generation ??.

01 Mar 2024 21:05:39
Assuming salah sold 150mil and we spend 130mil to get Musiala. Is it possible?

Leekuanyew

1.) 01 Mar 2024 21:16:21
Mathematically, obviously!

2.) 01 Mar 2024 21:17:17
Salah doesn’t play for Arsenal though.

3.) 01 Mar 2024 21:42:44
I don't see us getting that much for Salah. Probably be around £60m. This was the season we would have got around the amount you're suggesting.

4.) 01 Mar 2024 21:44:27
Let me guess, he scored today?

5.) 01 Mar 2024 22:43:04
He would be way down the list.

6.) 01 Mar 2024 23:29:54
Spot on Thunderbird 2.

7.) 01 Mar 2024 23:38:33
Yup it’s absolutely doable. I swapped Mo to Bayern +40mil. Probably over spent but Musiala is the future!

8.) 02 Mar 2024 00:47:49
Doesn’t Musiala play LW/ AM? Also pretty sure ed said Liverpool had zero interest.

9.) 02 Mar 2024 08:31:02
IF! we had to swap Salah for anyone, I would rather go all out for Victor Osimhen. Think he had a realise clause of just north of 100m put in to his new contract and the goals he would bring to the team would go a long way to replacing Mo’s. With Victor central, Darwin on the left and Diaz on the right, that would be a front line that would scare the pants of any opposition. Might even try and get him without selling Salah, and play them together for a year or 3!

{Ed001's Note - Osimhen is a bit Lukaku-like for me. Can have a loose touch at times. Better than Lukaku, but still not sure it is suited to the Prem at the top end. I would not be interested in him personally as a replacement for Salah. Plus he is a Chelsea fan looking for a move there. He is an avoid for me.}

10.) 02 Mar 2024 08:44:09
Who would your pick be then Ed001? IF…you had to reinvest the “Salah money”?

{Ed001's Note - probably someone like Wirtz maybe. I don't know to be honest, I have not given it any thought as I am hoping that he stays a bit longer.}

11.) 02 Mar 2024 08:45:20
West Derby Wanderer3, that killed me, bro. Not sure why @Leek cares about Salah and whether he goes or he stays neither. Arsenal can't afford him, anyway.

12.) 02 Mar 2024 08:51:41
With no manager or Dof in place yet for next season who would be making the decision now on who would be outgoing and who is incoming.

I’d imagine the 3 huge contacts that need looking at will be decided from the business side of things as a new manager won’t have the luxury of time to make up his mind.

Although I’d imagine most managers would want to keep all 3.

13.) 02 Mar 2024 10:31:12
Oshimen is right footed and we also have Darwin so can’t see how he would fit into our team or indeed be a good replacement for Salah. Wirtz is also right footed, so again we could end up with our forward line predominantly right footed ?.
Off course if a new manager comes in he might have different ideas about setup, who knows ?‍♂️.

14.) 02 Mar 2024 14:58:03
Musiala would be TOP of the list for me! Absolute top player.

{Ed002's Note - The obsession with Chelsea youngsters continues.}

15.) 02 Mar 2024 14:58:03
Musiala would be TOP of the list for me! Absolute top player.

{Ed001's Note - good shout.}

16.) 02 Mar 2024 22:08:41
Crazy to think how many youngsters have left Chelsea and have been successful. Bad management or just buying whoever shows interest maybe their downfall.
