Quick Questions for the Ed's, if I may?
I would like your thoughts on where you see the Liverpool team in terms of the Premiership Hierarchy. Whilst I think everyone will agree that Man City currently are a class apart, I feel that our squad, especially with the recent acquisition should be challenging for second, not bobbing around the fourth spot!
We've got a good team on the whole, YES, a couple of obvious weaknesses and hopefully the manager will identify suitable replacements moving forward?
As a Liverpool fan I am both excited and frustrated by this.
Your thoughts, as ever would be greatly appreciated.

{Ed025's Note - i have said before that liverpool are the 2nd best side in the prem EPC and i still believe that, chelsea and utd flatter to deceive and the door is wide open if the reds choose to step in mate..

Good morning Ed's
Can I ask a for your opinion on Firmino without Cout's in the side please?
He seems to me a more confident player without his fellow Brazilian besides him.
Would like your thoughts if possible please?

Kind Regards.

{Ed001's Note - I think he looks better because he is not constantly trying to pass it to Couts only, he is looking for the best option now.}

He'd better adapt cos Cou won1't bere prolly after Jan.

Quick question for the Ed's. Forgetting all the madness surrounding today, IF we do no more business apart from OX, would you be happy with the squad moving forward as a title/ top 4 contender?
Kind Regards.

EPC5

{Ed001's Note - I would, yes. We were not that far away anyway and have seemingly solved our priority issue of fullback positions.}

1.) 31 Aug 2017 09:26:56
Just need to train the players how to defend set pieces now Ed. You know of any good defensive coaches looking for work.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know many good coaches these days, they get a few badges and they think they are experts. The arrogance of the modern day coach is astounding. All they say is 'how many badges you got' or similar, if you make any kind of comment. No wonder the best players in the world learn to play away from coaching!}

2.) 31 Aug 2017 09:48:48
So you're happy with the CBs we have then Eds?

{Ed001's Note - did I say that?}

3.) 31 Aug 2017 10:01:39
Well you were asked if you were happy with the squad as a title/ top 4 contender and you said yes, you were happy with the squad moving forward. I am just surprised you didn't mention you'd have liked to add a CB that's all.

{Ed001's Note - I have already stated that a thousand times but also that I would like to see Gomez given more chances and that you can't change the entire team in one window.}

4.) 31 Aug 2017 10:07:49
Eds with the money these players are earning now are they still as receptive to being trained by coaches as they were years ago.

{Ed001's Note - it is more about not wanting to give up their day to day involvement in the game. You are a long time retired mate. It is not so much the top end players and coaches I am referring to anyway, it is the no marks in lower league football that think they are special because they have their A license. Most still know f all about the game or how to coach, no matter what their qualifications. They are too full of themselves to realise that coaching is about the people you are working with, not about yourself.}

Cheers for the reply and thoughts eds. Hope you're enjoying your chilled transfer deadline day 🙈.

{Ed001's Note - chilled?}

Hi Ed's,
Can I ask a question re Coutinho please?
You've been reporting for a long time now that he wants Barcelona and Barcelona wants him. We known about this and yet, why have we waited until the eve of the season to start, to lose one of our most important players.
Couldn't we, or more importantly shouldn't we have addressed this at the start of the window?
Maybe I'm asking a stupid question and for that I apologise. I know we don't want to lose him, however if this is a done deal, HOW can we act this way and seriously disrupt the team for a big season ahead.
Sorry, I want to have faith in the powers at be for making the right choices but it seems that at every turn, we are making very big mistakes.
Liverpool fan losing faith ☹.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about timing.}

1.) 08 Aug 2017 14:19:14
I see where you are coming from EP, the season is only a few days away, and if Couts were to leave us at this point, I will have a meltdown, and will not be a happy bunny, if fact I will prob give the first game a miss, as a protest .

2.) 08 Aug 2017 14:27:26
So a player gets the move their pushing for and your answer is to stop supporting the rest of the team? Be a normal fan and support LFC and those players that want to play for us.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 16:29:54
You've got to remember that transfers often have a domino effect. I don't know this for sure, but the Neymar transfer, with cash up front, has made Barcelona able to meet the price that we want for Couts. If that transfer hadn't have gone through, they may not have been able to afford a fee that was acceptable to us.

And in any case, he's not gone yet. let's see what happens.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 16:34:42
How could we have taken care of it sooner? The club wants him to stay. Were they supposed to prompt Barcelona to bid for him in June? May? January?

Question for the Ed's, if you would be so kind?

I just want to ask your thoughts on the transfer business, both in's and out's that we've made this year and whether you think Klopp is building a team that in future years will be capable of challenging for the highest honours?

Many thanks.

{Ed023's Note - I like the Mane, Karius and Matip signings as I believe they were areas that we needed to strengthen however I am slightly disappointed we haven't got a left back and that could cost us going forward - I do agree with some posters when theu say if the right player isn't available then don't buy for the sake of it. As for wijnaldum I want to wait until around xmas time to give an opinion on that deal.

In terms of outs it's we have got some good fees for example the money for Skrtel Ibe Smith; I never expected to get that return for all 3. Getting Benteke and Balotelli out of the club next would be business well done for the club so it's a wait and see with them.

I think Klopp is building for now whilst he has the future in mind when looking towards the academy with the likes of Trent Alexandor, Ojo, Ejaria, Brannagan getting game time. His purchases are to make an immediate impact in his mind as Mane, Karius, georginio wijnaldum, Matip, Korver are all players who you would expect to go straight away their experience behind them.}

1.) 01 Aug 2016 14:34:50
I believe that Klopp is is taking us forward, but while he has to bring in the right players, he also has to move on players that clearly have no future at Liverpool . I am thinking Benteke and Balotelli, how on earth did we spend so much on two players, that were not going to work out, due to our style of play .

2.) 01 Aug 2016 14:47:36
I think grujic will shock everyone if he's given the chance.

3.) 01 Aug 2016 14:57:41
Hi Ed's,

Many thanks, I'm quietly excited about the future of the club. Hopefully, no-more false dawns.

{Ed023's Note - You are welcome and fingers crossed}

4.) 01 Aug 2016 15:44:54
I'm sure Grujic will become a good player under Klopp but he's young and we have only seen him play a couple of pre-season games, which means little. Let's not give him too much hype just yet! We will see if he has what it takes to adapt to the high demands of premiership football. YNWA.

5.) 01 Aug 2016 17:07:44
I think failure to address the fullback positions will prove to be a decisive failure by the club (if it isn't amended before the window closes) . Milner isn't good enough to play left-back, neither is Moreno. Clyne is a poor right-back, we let Flanno leave in loan and Randall hasn't done much to convince he will offer a good solution. It is such a glaringly obvious area of concern and just bizarre that it has not been dealt with - if the club fails to deal with it (or a panic buy made with a few days until the window goes) it will be nothing but rank incompetence (and not for the first time) and someones head should roll. It is incomprehensible to me that we continue to mess up in transfer windows and damage the team. Mark my words if we don't pay attention to this problem area we won't get anywhere near fourth let alone a title challenge.

6.) 01 Aug 2016 18:39:24
Ed and Seano are spot on. As much as we have addressed glaring areas of need, the messing about on which LB to come is is to me, rank incompetence and is doing my head in, massively. We could have gotten Chilwell for over half of the GW fee and a third of the Mane fee as he was keen on coming to us but we messed about over a pathetic 2m? Disgraceful. I will reserve judgement until the end of the TW but the FB positions (R and L) need addressing fast.

7.) 01 Aug 2016 18:45:43
Clyne is far from a poor full back he is good enough to head into the season with I think he has over 50 games in one season was as stead as ever been a good pro

Left back is another story.

8.) 01 Aug 2016 19:18:24
Agree on Clyne, he's solid enough IMO and if he could develop a better cross or final pass he'd be dangerous too as he's good at getting into decent attacking positions. I'm happy to see him start for us.

9.) 01 Aug 2016 21:22:52
DBol, I agree. I hear he's electric.
