A quick question for any of the eds if I may? I'm seeing reports that Coutinho doesn't want to play in champions league for us so not to get cup tied. I was just wondering what power Liverpool or any club for that matter has when a player refuses to play for them or fakes an injury. Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Fine him or sack him.}

1.) 05 Sep 2017 17:27:30
Ed are you aware if he has actually said that please?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea, sorry.}

2.) 05 Sep 2017 17:34:22
Ed002, I know you don't like to talk finances. But what is the maximum a club can fine a player? Is there a limit to both the fine amount and time frame you can be fined?
Also if Liverpool sack Coutinho can we request he paid the reminder of his contract to the club? If he was sacked I'm guessing he would be then free in which to join any club he wanted? If he did that, would Liverpool forfeit the potential value he is worth in the transfer market and receive nothing?

Baz.

{Ed002's Note - Two weeks wages. If Liverpool sack him they could sue him, but they won't do that.}

3.) 05 Sep 2017 17:48:19
What would the implications be if we sacked him ed002?
Could Liverpool sack him for breach of contract or something?
I remember Chelsea sacking Mutu for breach of contract and claiming damages, although a completely different type of breach would Liverpool be able to do something similar?
Thanks ed and sorry In advance if I've asked a silly question 😁.

{Ed002's Note - Yes they could, but Chelsea never got the money from Mutu.}

4.) 05 Sep 2017 19:37:16
If you play in the group games, are you automatically cup tied for the whole tournament, or is there a 'wiping of the slate' for the knockout rounds (like they do for yellow cards for example)?

5.) 05 Sep 2017 19:47:57
I don't believe any of that nonsense about Cou saying that he won't play in the CL. I propose people just lean on the Ed's for the right information on what is going on at the club instead of getting all worked up about the crap being spewed on daily rag newspapers.

Concerning the latest rumours about Keita being back on again and now Leipzig saying he could go next year. Do you think it's at all possible we could buy him this year and loan him back to Leipzig for this season? Seems like a win win situation to me. Leipzig would get more than the 48 million and we wouldn't be fighting for his signature next year which would most certainly happen if we waited until next year.

Thanks in advance.

Jaxsun

{Ed002's Note - No, that won't be happening because (a) they do not wish to sell him and, (b) one of the other interested sides has already tried to strike a similar deal.

And forget the money.}

1.) 10 Aug 2017 12:23:27
Thanks for the quick reply eds002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 10 Aug 2017 12:23:43
So if that's the case ed002 what's this macca rumor about then?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware that Macca has said anything about trying to negotiate a deal for next season or for loaning him to anyone.}

3.) 10 Aug 2017 12:27:44
that would make ZERO sense to do. shell out 70mil now and get the player next year? no thanks. if we're paying that sum (or potentially north) it has to be an immediate transfer.

this 10 mil on a young talented player who needs another year to develop outside of our first team.

4.) 10 Aug 2017 12:32:15
so its a bs rumour to get people betting on it again.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

5.) 10 Aug 2017 12:55:20
It's not hard to comprehend, Macca has heard it may still happen and there are rumours of agents looking for housing. Ed could not clarify if either was True other than RBL do not wish to sell. He has clarified there has be no talk of a buy to loan situation other than another club being turned down for that option.

6.) 10 Aug 2017 12:56:03
sorry ed its a few accounts on twitter are paid by bookies when they are big enough to promote betting they also start rumours e. g keita agent is house hunting.

7.) 10 Aug 2017 13:21:57
Danny I think what ed is saying mate is buying Keita and loaning him back for next season is not an option and Macca has suggested a deal is back on but for this season not next. that's the way I read it anyway.

8.) 10 Aug 2017 14:43:33
His release clause if there is one could be re written anytime during the season with an improved wages! What if RBL is at the top of the league and the lad change his opinion and stays there? There are no guarantee he would move out next summer!

9.) 10 Aug 2017 15:46:47
Macca did put at the bottom of his post that he's not on twitter danny so I don't think his information is from there.

Whatever happened to becoming a Liverpool legend rather than just another player for Barca? So disappointing. Just need to accept it and move on which leads me to my point. I think Firmino is the perfect replacement. It's his best position too. Salah Mane and Firmino with studge in front and Solanke given a chance. Sounds good to me.

Club loyalty from players is very rare these days.

Cmon Liverpool fans give the eds a break. You can't defend the indefensible. LFCs behaviour has been embarrassing and that's a FACT. Eds002 is only saying it like it is and I completely agree. I just hope they finally learn from this.

The only people defending tapping up of a player are a bit shot in the head. But what you might take on board Jaxsun is that Liverpool apologised, Southampton accepted the apology and suggested that they considered the matter closed, or if not, please show me where their statement is that says otherwise as this was widely reported in the media and Southampton never denied it.
The PL did nothing as they understood Southampton accepted the apology.
Now it is time for both clubs to move on and we can start re-building a relationship with them again from scratch probably.
I'm pretty sure if we offer enough money for that Dutch defender, we'll all be friends again until next season when we are linked to Romeou or someone else in their squad who had a great season.

2.) 04 Aug 2017 21:58:45
Totally agree. Ed2 only stating the facts as they are, despite being attacked and abused by narrow-minded, short sighted so called supporters. The club has behaved appallingly as have people who try to defend the indefensible. It shows a certain lack of maturity on their end and the poor attempts to justify what the club has done is exactly that, feeble.

3.) 04 Aug 2017 23:50:12
what do you think of the tactics of some Barcelona players and ex players, all putting it out that Couts would be perfect for Barcelona, I don't like it at all, and they do this all the time they want to sign someone, now that should be reported to someone, in fact some team did threaten them recently .

4.) 05 Aug 2017 00:49:22
No difference in when ex lfc players talk about other players like Aldridge on vvd! What's good for 1 is good for all.

5.) 05 Aug 2017 03:18:06
Redforever I understand your gripe but how many ex reds have mentioned VVD, we shouldn't dish it out if we can't take it, how can we plead dodgy behaviour when ours is checkered at best? Pot Kettle black don't you think?

6.) 05 Aug 2017 21:55:50
Ex players who don't work for the club but work in the media answering questions they're asked. Le Tissier has commented many times on players coming to Southampton before they've signed. Charlie Nicholas on players going to Arsenal or Celtic. The difference is that Barcelona use current players like how Liverpool used to use Stevie G. It's a bit low to say the least IMO.

I wish Liverpool would move on from Kieta. It's getting embarrassing now. They don't want to sell and no transfer request has been made. Just move on to other alternatives and forget about him.
