How can anyone say they are behind the owners? They have stuck with Rodgers and a diabolical transfer committee. Edd001 said the minimum this season is fourth. Wasn't the minimum last season to atleast challenge and we were EmbarrasIng? So we failed spectacularly in our objectives yet the same formula remains. I won't be shouting for the owners out like the United fans had for the glazers but certainly the owners are failing us this year. It is not Rodgers fault he remained in the job or the the transfer committee is allowed to make yet more awful signings. Buck stops now with fsg And Michael gordon

The transfer committee is a shambels they missed out on Willan Sanchez and Mikitarian.Just take a minute to think of how good a front for of Suarez Sanchez Mikitarian and Willan would be

{Ed001's Note - none of them were anything to do with the committee.}

2.) 21 Jun 2015 12:07:08
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that we used when creating them!
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
I could play this game all day, hehe!

Potatoe,

"Everything should be made as simple as possible, not simpler."

I'm not sure how to look at next season at the moment, I'm just trying to get over the last one still.

5.) 21 Jun 2015 13:41:46
Matas Beard

Willian OR Mkhitaryan was looked at as replacements for Suarez; all of them would never have played in the same team. Sanchez rejected LFC, transfer committee needs to be blamed on not having thought of better alternatives to Sanchez in case he didn't come. Basically, you don't know what you are talking about.

6.) 21 Jun 2015 13:56:34
All good, points, boys. Seems the owners are fixing every other part of a broken down car but the engine itself YET they want the car to run smoothly. Beggars belief, really.

Ed. Did Liverpool offer skrtl a longer contract?

Potatoe head

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

1.) 18 Jun 2015 22:10:43
Unbelievable

2.) 18 Jun 2015 23:34:40
Wish all you skrtl haters would get off his back,! Couple of games with any other two at club and you will be screaming for him back

3.) 19 Jun 2015 00:42:01
Hahahahahaha scouse john have you ever watched him. Take him out and the defense improves.

4.) 19 Jun 2015 00:48:21
scouse john. watch skrtel closely for one game. just one game. then you will see the light.

5.) 19 Jun 2015 02:29:10
I won't be one of those screaming for him to come back. Why? I'm currently screaming for him to get gone from our club but Le Nez ( The Nose in French) showed his incompetence once again by resigning him to the chagrin of many of us.

6.) 19 Jun 2015 07:23:42
Our best CB for those that haven't actually watched him closely. Blinded by his season as our POTY.

7.) 19 Jun 2015 08:05:12
Echo pointed out that with him as an ever present in defence over the last five years we have gotten worse year by year. Its time to move on, if he signs it should be to cover rather than be a mainstay in defence. We went from conceding 28 or so goals to 50 and above, there has to be something in that!

8.) 19 Jun 2015 10:49:34
John Barnez, i would not necessarily put our worsening defense on Skrtel's woefulness completely. U have forgotten that we have had a useless manager who thinks defense is unimportant in football so u cannot shift the blame on the defenders completely. Every defender during Brendan's reign has gotten worse at the club so that is on the manager.

9.) 19 Jun 2015 16:41:04
Unfortunately the manager does not tell him to rush out of defence without ensuring cover is available or play so deep rendering everyone onside all the time. Brendan is right in one respect, skittles is uncoachable.

Granted all the players are culpable for the shocking displays though, not just skittles but he does make their lives harder.

Ed. Will the page ever have a system that shows who hits the likes and dislikes because I suspect there's a few trolls abouT. Fans might say who cares but they are underneath posts. Just wondering gentlemen. I know yous are very busy!

Edd001 can I ask what you think about our signings and the road we are taking because when I visit the page it's as if the players we have signed have transformed into top players when the reality is they are not going to improve us.
Man i'm fed up with the situation. Rodgers was a disaster last season and everyone but him have been sacked and we needed a top gk not to compete with mignolet but a first teamer such as cech. We also needed a top striker and midfielder. And not in any lifetime would have wanted the club would sign the 3 players we have to improve the first team we have. And to add our shocking defence looks as if nothing will change or anything is to be done to improve it significantly. This isn't 'abuse'. It's the reality of it. I just don't think it's acceptable what is happening and I might sound harsh but imagine what most fans will say when the season goes badly. There has been nothing so far carried out this summer or look to be as far as changing what happened last season.

Potatoe head

{Ed001's Note - Bogdan would be ok if we were a Championship team, but he is simply not good enough for a Premier League team.

Milner would be an excellent signing if we didn't have Henderson. I can only assume he is to replace Gerrard's experience and play out wide, as he is otherwise a complete waste of a signing.

Ings I have fears about, while he has ability, he is quick, but it is that lack of bottle he showed when he decided to stop taking Burnley's penalties in case he missed and sent them down that worries me. He also scored less than Austin in a side that was creating more chances than the truly awful QPR. We needed a top class goalscorer, we got a fairly decent striker instead.

I am worried because we are still not buying to replace the weaker links, we are just bringing in players. I get that we lost our back up keeper, but Mignolet is simply not good enough, so replace him and he can be the back up. We needed a striker, but Ings is not a lone striker anyway, he plays best with a partner, and we very rarely play two up top. The last thing we needed was a player like Milner, no matter how good he is, though I have no doubts he will work hard and play well. It is just that he is not needed and doesn't improve the team all that much. The only player we have targeted that is a clear step up over the players we already have is Kovacic and we messed about so much we might end up losing him.

The transfer policy of the club is imbecilic. No thought has been put into it, it is just like we are collecting midfielders, when we already have so many Rodgers attempted to field a team of them at the end of the season! At least we can go into the season with no expectations, because it will be a miracle if we get top 4 next year.}

1.) 16 Jun 2015 21:56:51
Edd001 absolutely brilliant post. Thanks for the effort and honesty in the post matE!

2.) 16 Jun 2015 22:18:40
Ed1 you have hit the nail right on the head there mate

3.) 16 Jun 2015 22:37:17
I'll be happy with just kovacic in now.

With ballo, borini, aspas, Alberto, sterling, gerrard, Enrique, jonno.

Couple I would like the club to look for would be;

Not swap deals btw lol

Mignolet for begonia/hhandonovic

Lucas for medel

B, b & as for Mitrovic

But as I said will be chuffed with just kovacic now.

4.) 16 Jun 2015 22:38:37
Very good ed, but great post by potatoe head also, very honest and it's what a lot of us fans are thinking. Can't blame the owners, they've pumped so much money into the club and Rodgers has really squandered it. It's so obvious there's nothing left

5.) 17 Jun 2015 00:56:52
Ah yes ! But you don't understand the 0-10-0 system !

6.) 17 Jun 2015 00:27:23
Potatoe and Ed, brilliant posts. I have the very same fears as well and trust me, there are no miracles in footie or any sport. It's all about preparation and strategy with a direct goal and how to get there. If you fail to plan like we're doing, you are planning to fail as we will if we continue to screw up as we are. Like the Ed, only a severe turn of events will get us top four next season.

7.) 17 Jun 2015 07:04:40
I concur OP and Ed001, Kovacic was the only potential signing I was excited about and it now seems we've gone and potentially ballsed it up. Though I was half expecting that to be the case. I hope we can still pull it off, he would clearly be our best midfielder if we can. I would be excited to see him and Couthino together.

8.) 17 Jun 2015 07:42:44
Redman - Begonia?

I'm sure, given the right soil, he will flower for the club in due course.

I remember his step dad - Tim Flowers - with fondness.

9.) 17 Jun 2015 09:03:03
Trying not to get into the blame game but fsg has to take some responsibility here. The transfer committee and the brendan experiment has failed and clear and decisive leadership was required. I reiterate that we are regressing yet again and i fear it will not change until fsg sell up and we get in footballing owners.

I am not knocking their commitment to try and make the club successful, but i do question their commitment to understanding football and how we approach the running of this club. There is no point holding reviews if the fundamental issues are not addressed and improved upon. Our behaviour over transfers since they came has been shambolic yet the review has not looked at this.

No one takes responsibility and says hang on a minute, you have wasted the career of ilori but yet you want to spend another 3.5m on another young defender whose career you will also waste. Or bringing in bogdan who is 3rd choice at best in a prem club when people like begovic would have been available and an upgrade on our current keeper.

No expectations is about right I'm afraid and no confidence in the leadership of the club and a spineless sicophant of a manager at the helm. Not everyone will agree with all decisions made by organisations but they are getting it so clearly wrong and our stay away owners are not doing anything constructive to improve the situation.

12 Jun 2015 11:18:44
We have learnt absolutely nothing from our transfer failings. It is extraordinary and embarrassing. We have signed 3 players so far and not one has improved the first team. As I said before how many more before we improve the first team 6?
And it is not abuse! It's a valid post. they will get serious abuse if we have another terrible season which does look possible. And it won't be the players fault. The club chose to buy them. And this is what I also said. If thEse players weren't free' there is not a chance we would have bought them. So what does that tell us? Not that fsg won't spend but that the committee assume there is no risk like fans. But what they do add is more numbers to the squad and less chances for youngsters

Potatoe head

1.) 12 Jun 2015 12:12:53
Disagree 100% - would you rather have Ings over Balo long term? I worship Gerard but would take Milner over him based on age alone. Neither will guarantee top 4 but both are improvements IMO and very good value as free agents.

I would however start to worry if we don't sign a top striker and a solid FB before season starts. If we do that then we're set.

2.) 12 Jun 2015 12:18:31
Ings is a definite improvement on borini balo lambert and sterling in the striker role, milner is an improvement on Joe Allen and bogdan is better than Brad Jones. So all 3 are improvements in the positions they were signed for and all for 5-6m, good business. Now we do need to spend the money saved on quality but so far business has been good if not that exciting.

3.) 12 Jun 2015 17:55:13
Business has been disappointing, average at best. The comparison is also misleading because the bar is very low when comparing Ings to those who frankly, rarely got games bar balo who was a failed gamble. Bogdan is no upgrade on Jones because he`s a reserve keeper as well at Bolton and having one good game against an LFC team that played no strikers doesn`t change that. That asisde, potatoe is right. The players we bought or are looking to buy are not player we need because they will not improve on what we already have. Can, Hendo and Lucas are very good players for which those signed or willing to sign are no upgrades on them so why are we acting as if they are? As for Ings and Origi, they are options off the bench and not 15-20 goal strikers yet at least. so where are we? We are exactly where we were last season with the dreadful results we all know and if anyone thinks that doing the exact same thing with the same failure of a manager, will change the outcome then he needs his head examined.

Yes there is whining but some fans are realistic. You are like every season stating everyone we sign are "top signings" then when they show they were bad buys you are nowhere to be seen.
And squad depth? Give me a break. Weren't you winging about the lack of opportunities for youngsters yet they are now further down the pecking order? you never make or talk any sense

It's not about disagree or agree. Most of what you said is not viable nor valid. You fail to recognise the actual positions' of the players you mentioned and the quailty of player. Made for the recycle bin so you can come back again with sense and actual knowledge of what you say
