No way Nunez stays if we buy Isak.

Rather sell Nunez too and get a LW with some trickery. Gakpo and Ekitike on the left would be a bit too one dimensional for my liking. Tbf I’d even sell Gakpo next year if weren’t already so much change this year. Would prefer to keep Diaz if not for his age and contract status.

No chance we keep Nunez if we get Ekitike and Isak!

Personally think we’ll sell Diaz, sign Fofana as his replacement, maybe sign a two centre backs one experienced and one youngster, I can’t see Isak signing even if Nunez goes (I can see us going for a cheaper back up or using Chiesa as a false nine), and that’s not through not want of trying or the funds, but I think Newcastle will dig their heels in. Either way we’re doing everything we can to build on last years success.

In my opinion, there's no chance we will sign Isak.

Why do people on here think Gakpo and Ekitike are similar types of player? I must have missed something, because they are nothing alike, Gakpo is a much more 'systems' player, Ekitike has flair and invention in spades (sometimes to his detriment), but is much rawer and more 'street' than Gakpo, who is a 'cleaner', deadly efficient and smart attacking player.

Also just because Gakpo isn't a dribbly winger (Ekitike on the other hand is a dribbly player) doesn't make him ineffective, as his numbers from last year clearly prove.

Brummyred, you would sell Gakpo?!?! What, he's was outstanding last season. Our best player for most of it, until he got injured and it took him a while to get back to full fitness. I even hold onto that if we'd of had a fully fit Gakpo for those PSG ties we may have scraped past them.

Yeh don’t rate Gakpo tbh all that highly. Diaz for one is better than him and speaking of PSG so is Kvara who would have been the dream. He is a good finisher but so one dimensional at times and lacks any real invention. Given we have a goal scoring winger on the other side is Salah is prefer a more creative one on the left.

{Ed001's Note - if Diaz is better than him, why did he get pushed aside for Gakpo? Sorry but Gakpo is the better player by miles. If you want to talk about one dimensional, then Diaz is just the same but with less end product.}

100% agree ed001.
I think Gakpo is fantastic and way underrated (and seems a decent guy to boot)

Gakpo more clinical with better end product than Diaz on the LW, hence why he won that position and Diaz was trialed at CF.

I take Gakpo over Diaz for sure. Diaz easier to replace in my opinion.

And yeah, no way Nuñez stays if Isak comes. Nuñez would get even less game time than last season.

Gakpo is far more efficient than Diaz.

Left field thought. Sell Diaz, keep Darwin to rotate of left, but back up for strikers. I have always liked him of the wing, cutting in on his right.

{Ed077's Note - well you can only sell players of there's a buyer willing to pay the price (re Darwizzy)

Diaz - 36 games 15 goals 5 assists
Cody - 35 games 10 goals 4 assists

Above are the Premier League stats of Diaz and Cody.
Diaz was never pushed aside, he performed better, he was just better as a false nine when Jota was injured and Nunez not fancied.

I never understood the idea Gakpo ousted him. It’s a nonsense.

And from those stats. Yes, Diaz is better. He runs more, he tackles more and fights more and his out put is better.

Gakpo is good, but the idea he’s forced Diaz out of the side doesn’t bear scrutiny.
