Few different sources now reporting that Klopp has made a U-turn and admitted he was wrong about not needing a midfielder. Apparently we are now actively looking to sign a midfielder before the window shuts.

Hope so, see this as a somewhat transition year with the new guys so why not bed as many future starters now while we find the balance of being competitive and moving the elders on or reducing their roles.

@Faithworks, as well as Tchouameni who only wanted to go to Real Madrid, it also sounds like we might have been ‘discouraged’ by Dortmund in our pursuit of Bellingham this summer.

I think Klopp has been saying throughout the summer (given we couldn’t get out priority targets) that we would only sign someone if they added longterm benefit to the first team squad or if one of our nine midfield squad members left which was basically Ox who got injured or Naby who it seems nobody wants.

Perhaps someone who can add benefit has been offered to us? Perhaps not - sounds like social, media might be ramping up for the grand finale to the window.

Yeah with this talk of a midfielder now joining I can’t see it being a ‘big name’ I would be happy with caicedo (Brighton) or Kone (Borussia M)

Midfield of Fabinho, Carvalho and one of Henderson/ Milner,
Forwards Salah, Diaz and Elliot

Defense VVD, Arnold, Robertson and Gomex until Matip is fit.

WDW - totally. I mean it’s obviously not for everyone, but the club have built their success on buying the players they want when they want them. Moving early when possible and its viable. I think with our midfield, the timing is against everyone else’s time. But I’m ok with it. We have kids in Elliot, Carvalho, Bajcetic coming through, Morton on loan and more moves to make of Jan and then the next summer to rebuild the midfield.
