We have had a fantastic season and the fact that everyone is disappointed on how it finished is actually a positive as it gives us something to work towards. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and there is no point looking in the past and what might have been - although it is a great way to learn and adapt for next season. The squad is better than ever hence why we got so close to everything but needs reinforcement to allow us to go again next season. A backup for Trent is a requirement and I think our midfield needs strengthening. Henderson is a good player but not in the world class bracket where as Thiago picks up niggles all the time. We need a world class midfielder to come in. Also need a striker. 0 goals in 3 finals and mountains of chances - we need someone to finish the chances. If Mane or Salah leaves then another attacker is needed as a replacement on top of the additional striker. It all sounds doom and gloom but far from it - the future is extremely bright and this is just the beginning of us competing on all fronts.

There’s a few disappointed over-reactions I think.
We handled Vinicius well overall and Trent was good defensively.
If someone beforehand had offered me just the one goal for Madrid, I’d have taken it as I’d be sure that we’d score at least one in return.
More than anything it was fatigue that caught up with us, didn’t look fresh or play anything with like the same verve.
Can you imagine playing a CL Final and taking Souness and McDermott or Gerrard and Alonso off?
That’s what happened last night when Hendo and Thiago were subbed, rightly so as their legs had gone and both were running on fumes.
I never want to hear the word quadruple again, it’s not possible and we’ve found out why.

And for the rival fans. benzema has won more CL trophies than their entire teams history!

Trent is not playing well enough to be in midfield his crossing has been abysmal for months and his shooting is over the bar every time! He needs to work on this.

Agree with you there Juicer. We looked absolutely shattered. Both Henderson and Thiago looked mentally and physically drained, as did Mane and Salah.

Why do people keep putting ‘Trent’ and ‘midfield’ in the same sentence? He is Liverpool’s right back and arguably the best right full back in the world. Jurgen plays him at right back. The only “manager” to play him I’m midfield was Southgate - end of story really.

Salah has been poor for months now.

Trent ain't even the best right back in England mate he was poor again last night after bigging himself up all weeks he's not a patch on Gerrard.

{Ed001's Note - Trent is a fantastic right back and to suggest otherwise just makes you look like a clueless idiot. The only right back in England near his level is Cancelo.}

Spot on, Juicer. Trent was brilliant defensively all game long even till the last defensive play one on one with Benzema but if you are full of agendas, this pint will conveniently be ignored. We had enuff chances to outright win the game but it didn’t happen. We had a great season and we have things to improve upon even with the season we had.

As for the sore loser rival fans, I can’t even respond to their weak banter. Their teams don’t compete, don’t make finals, don’t win titles (apart from City) and don’t get 90 plus points (bar City) so no point listening to them. If you never made a final or challenged for titles, you can never be bantered for losing them.

Ed01 and to add to that, Cancelo is worse defensively than Trent is, IMO. The guy gets caught out of position a ton, gets cooked by any winger who dares to take him on like Diaz did at Wembley or Kulusewski at the Etihad and lacks positional awareness like when Matty Cash ghosted past him to score last week vs Villa. Very technically sound player BUT nowhere near Trent in any phase, IMO.

I have to disagree mate going forward yes but defensively he's about as useful as a stoned Nathaniel clyne.

Peterprice, you mean Cancelo or Trent?
