Something that sneaked under the radar and should be mentioned.
Andy Robertsons 2 assists yesterday tied him with Baines as the most assists for a defender in the premier league era.
Liverpool legend.

{Ed025's Note - you all wanted him dropping a few weeks ago..fickle is not the word..

I think it shows benefit of having good options to come in when a player out of form. Tsimaskas has come in robbo from time to time recently and I think it done robbo good. Looks fresher.

Come on, Ed025. You can change your mind about players, and so can we. The only difference is that you're slower and less frequent than we are (could it be age related, LOL? Even though you're just 2-3 years older than I am) .

{Ed025's Note - I can change my mind ArAy and have done in the past. I’m looking about 150 years old at the moment with this bloody Everton side mate but it doesn’t change my perception of players. You have some very good ones but don’t tell anyone I said that.. ?

As silly as this sounds, I think the injury and having time away to recover and recharge his batteries has been good for him.

So Robbo has more assists than Trent? Interesting that, maybe we haven't been giving him the credit he deserves. I certainly haven't!

5.) 13 Nov 2022
13 Nov 2022 15:10:26
more assists and a better defender. Just no cross-field balls making him look better than he is.

{Ed001's Note - not even Robbo would suggest he is better than Trent, he has just had more years playing in the Prem. This kind of comment is just moronic and shows you to be a hater of a player rather than having a clue. Those cross-field balls open up the play, it is not about making him look better than he is. What is wrong with some of you? You get the best right-back in the world in your team and all you want to is attack him? It is pathetic.}

Ed001 am so pleased the season has paused I think we will be a different animal when we restart the stick Trent go was ridiculous he had gone from being the best right back in world football to a league 1 defender on some comments.
Vvd and Fabinho where playing more poorly than him he was having to cover and every goal we conceded the pundits where trying to point to only his mistakes what made him in my eyes make silly mistakes but rushing in and not playing his normal game.
All this extra scrutiny has come because that clown of an England manager left him out and pointed to form when we had no cb fit and we lost a few games yet harry maguire still gets in the team Pickford a few season back was awful still in the team even Harry Kane at the start of last season after he did not get his move to city was absolutely awful and should have been nowhere near that England team if I was Trent when I got called up for this World Cup I would have pulled out and stated I would never play for England when that w****r in a waist coat is manager.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you mate. He was not even at fault for most of the goals he gets the blame for.}

I think where trent got a lot of stick was from was this walking back when we in danger, not sprinting back. Against man utd I couldn't believe what I was watching from him for there 1st goal.
He's a magnificent player and we v lucky to have him, positionly I think he goes where klopp tells him and criticism he gets on that is unfair, more a midfield problem of been 2 easy played threw and left exposed. But as I said at start this walking back looks terrible.

Let’s have it right Trent has been at fault for massive goals that have cost us dearly. That p. pot attempt at a challenge on Jesus in the title decider should never be forgotten. He is a lazy defender especially this season. The penalty he could have conceded last week sums up his season. Trent sprinted and was level and in control, then for some unknown reason he has a brain fart and switches off for a second. Then suddenly he panics, sprints again but now he is out of position and is fortunate to not concede a penalty. Trent has had a terrible season so far, he gets many deserved plaudits in previous years but atm he deserves a kick up the backside.
For goodness sake run you lazy beggar.

I have to agree with Digger, it was the earlier season games where he seemed to give up if he got out of position, which left matip or Gomez in no man's land with too much to do. I'll also admit I haven't seen it as often recently, the defensive gaps seem to be coming from lack of cover in midfield now, but I put that down to changes in formation and lots of games so less time to practice on the training field. With all that being said, I genuinely can't think of another rb I'd have in the team over Trent.

13 Nov 2022 18:52:14
Edd001 you're down playing robbo though by mentioning trent as a comparison. Different type of players. Robbo is up there as one of of best left backs in the world in form. He's always forgotten by even most liverpool fans . He's a weapon for us when he's on fire.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't downplaying Robbo at all, it was someone else using Robbo as an attack on Trent. I was just pointing out why he has the most assists. I don't know why I bother, always someone along to twist my words.}

I’m still with Ed001 that a lot of this falls down to how lacklustre we’ve been in midfield, no pressing, no closing down just leaving open space to attack. Deal with that and there’s no question on our full backs. TAA is just an easy target.

15.) 13 Nov 2022
13 Nov 2022 21:33:21
Nonsense VVV, how is it the midfield’s fault if Trent can’t be arsed to stay with his man. The goals that are his fault are ones where he set. There are so many incidents this season where he just switches off or worse can’t be bothered to run. He has been as bad as Fabs, and VVD the 3 of them should be ashamed.

16.) 14 Nov 2022
13 Nov 2022 23:55:21
If the midfield isn’t protecting the defence, it isn’t pressing and closing down opponents or closing down space, consequently that does mean more pressure on the defenders and results in more mistakes, so yeah, it does start there. Our midfield is one paced, and it doesn’t press like it did when we won the league and European Cup. The system we successfully employed relied on two midfielders pressing and closing down (Henderson and Wijnaldum) and one staying back sweeping up. This protected the back four and allowed the fullbacks to get forward. As the midfield doesn’t do the part it’s supposed to do it leaves us exposed. Sort the midfield out and the rest falls into place.

14 Nov 2022 06:54:57
You are missing the point, we are talking about when Trent is set with his man in the right position. It’s basic defending that you learn from a young age. Don’t make excuses for him he doesn’t deserve any.

18.) 14 Nov 2022
14 Nov 2022 08:37:09
So Trent is now worse than Keita?
Do we hate Trent instead, or just hate both of them?

19.) 14 Nov 2022

Why is saying players have been very poor hating them? Just stating the obvious.

20.) 14 Nov 2022
14 Nov 2022 10:50:21
@VVVV, Trent is a good player but certainly not the best right back in the world now on current form. But he has been at fault for some major errors, for example real Madrid’s goal in the champions league final last season, he was at fault for not keeping track of where Vinicius junior was, the first game of the season against Fulham, he had clue where mitrovich was allowing him to score the header…. why do you think lots of opposition teams attack that side of the pitch? Because they also see that he has a big mistake in him. I agree he doesn’t get as much cover as he used from the midfield but it also highlights that his defensive abilities are poor, if you’re a defender having to rely a lot on the midfield doing the defending instead of you!

14 Nov 2022 10:54:19
Trent has one problem for me he ball watches and gets caught out as he done in champions league which cost us big time apart from ball watching the lad is way above any other prem full back for passing, attacking space, shots, free kicks, crossing, corners . If the lad had name like Arnoldo he would not be able to do anything wrong .

One last point do you think Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, Holland would have Trent in their team not just the squad me thinks they would have him down first on team sheet and this countries manager who would of binned Trent if the chelsea lad had been fit . We as reds don't know what we have in this kid we are blessed to have Trent at LFC and time will high light this mark my words.

Albeydered as much as I agree with you on Trent's flaws, I do not believe he cost us the CL final. On the goal, there are already 2 mistakes by Robbo and VVD who for some dumb reason did not close down Vlaverde while Trent was playing the libne VVD set for offside. Valverde has time to check and fire the ball across where even AB1 could not even get to it. Vini Jnr was onside by actual centimeters. Enuff blame to go round, IMO. We need to stop sigling

What cost us the CL final? Our inability to finish our chances cos had we done so, their goal becomes irrelevant. We need to stop this pathetic habit of singling out one perceived individual mistake rather than focus on the overall picture. One play should NOT define a whole 90 mins where Trent was actually very good vs Vini Jnr overall.
