Ed001 I can't wait for your match review. I thought the ref was once again awful Chelsea should have had two yellow cards but he did nothing then we lose another player because once again the ref loses control of a game.
But I don't think I have ever been more proud of our team to win a cup final with the amount of youth players in the squad today was amazing. I hope all of them go on to reach their full potential and if so we have a very bright future.

{Ed001's Note - I don't normally review cup games. If I get time I will do so though.}

In fairness though it looked nasty I didn’t think Caicedo’s challenge was malicious or that it warranted a red. The goal that was ruled out for offside however ….

Please review this one mate! The kids made us super proud!

{Ed001's Note - OK Doc, just for you!}

Caceido should have been a yellow for sure but not a red (but then Jones’s red some time ago should have been a yellow too, and this tackle was a lot worse! ) .

On the topic of consistency, the first goal being ruled out I can just about understand, but then going forward anyone in an offside position that impedes a defender tracking back has to be a foul and we all know that’s not going to happen! Definitely a point that needs to be clarified.

I still don’t agree that means the ref lost control of the game though, it wasn’t a great performance but I’ve seen a lot worse and he generally kept things ticking over without unduly influencing the game too much (VAR made the call on Endo and not reviewing the Caceido challenge) .

Most importantly though, that first 15mins of extra time tells you everything you need to know about Klopp, Liverpool and the academy. Such confidence and spirit to take the game to them given the circumstances and Chelsea just faded by comparison. A worthy win for that 15mins along where the kids stepped up like seasoned pros under the pressure and Klopp deserves huge respect for making that call and putting his own credibility at risk in a major final.

For the offside, I wish they'd just say that, interfering with play or not, if you're offside, you're offside. That then takes away any sort of is he/ isn't he.

Should have some time this week Ed cos you don’t normally review Southampton games either ;)

{Ed001's Note - hahaha good point. I don't think I have ever done a Southampton review have I? Can anyone remember if they ever saw one?}

If ever there was a game to watch back its that 1 ed1. Magnificent, just a joy to watch that sort of gutsy determined game. Haven't enjoyed a cup final as much since 05.

{Ed001's Note - it is just time at the moment. I am looking forward to watching it again.}

Caicedo should’ve been sent off in the first half but not for that challenge. That was a yellow for me but he did enough fouls in one half of football to warrant 3 yellow cards!

However, if we are being consistent then the VAR should’ve called the ref over to the screen and showed him a freeze frame of the contact. Then the ref would’ve had no choice but to send him off.

That’s the frustration for most of us, the inconsistency.

It’s a clear tactic for a lot of PL teams to have players standing offside at free kicks and to block the defenders coming back. I’ve seen it dozens of times and I’ve never seen it called offside. All of a sudden it’s offside?

Where’s the consistency? It’s just so frustrating.

Spot on, Beckers. He should have been booked earlier in the game after like 10 mins and then, sent off after the Grav foul for a second yellow cos it definitely was a yellow.

As for the disallowed goal, was Colwill even really blocked cos he sure was NOT trying to get away nor fight off Endo? That is one of the softest blocks I've seen in all my years of watching footie. Looked like a hug-fest btw two bros., really. Even Stuart Robson on commentary could not believe why the goal was disallowed. Most importantly, not a single Chelsea player complained.

Now keep in mind that, we all saw Chilwell rip the shirt off the back of VVD as he headed the ball and scored. Had VVD went down, would the VAR have gone to check it? The answer would be no, IMO. Why? "We want to let things go" is what you will hear. So why did they not let things go here?

You guys should watch Klopps interview. Have to go back to his comments on Tierney to find another interview where he was so direct about a ref.
