Yes Slot will get eventually get it right, yes the team needs time and yes there are a number of players that are underperforming but this is the first time I’m looking at Slot and I am genuinely at a loss at to what he is actually trying to achieve with the system being deployed.
Why did he buy Frimpong to not play him? Bradley is not better than him both in attack and defending, so I just don’t get it. Kerkez used to play as a fullback that bombed down the line when he was at Bournemouth, yet Slot decides to play him inverting and making up some sort of three man centre back, again I just don’t get it.
Gomez was terrible against Southampton but that was one game. Surely, and I mean surely, he can’t be any worse than Konate right now. I said a week or so ago on a post match review about the ‘Curious Case Of Alexis Mac Allister’ and things have not changed. What is going on with him? Clearly he is carrying an injury of some sorts but right now we are having to carrying him in midfield. This is having a knock on impact on the team because our midfield is not balanced. Then you add the fact Slot has told Gravenberch to have freedom to go forward and we wonder why our already susceptible defence is being ran at left, right and centre all game. Just play Szoboszlai alongside Gravenberch.
Salah is not the same Salah anymore. Anyone that says otherwise is either choosing not to see it or is living in years gone by. He has cemented himself in history books but right now he is causing us more problems than solutions being in this side. Gakpo scored a goal but besides that what did he do? I would try a front 3 of Chiesa, Isak and Ekitike. Not sure what Chiesa has done to not even touch grass yesterday whilst Salah somehow managed to play the entire game. He also needs to stop dropping Wirtz. How is he meant to adapt to the league and play his way into form when you constantly drop him or shove him out on the left? The team needs to be built around Wirtz and the two strikers we bought not Salah.
Our performances and results are a mixture of both the system and players but if Slot persists with whatever he is trying to do, we will continue to get beaten by teams we should be beating and then we can kiss any title hopes goodbye!

I don’t think he knows what he’s trying to do. Gomez can play right across the back 4 but is being overlooked for midfielders to play out of position.
