Latest from Fabrice Hawkins on Barcola, who is very reliable for PSG:

“Negotiations are ongoing. The trend is toward a departure, but for the moment there is no agreement between the clubs.”

Looks like this one might drag into next week…

Also, what are people’s thoughts on Minteh? I’m less keen on him on RW, think his best work comes from the left. Crossing is immaculate and work rate is amazing, but price is getting a bit silly for a lad who is realistically worth 40-50m.

Mbaye price apparently set at £60m which again is insane for a lad with limited minutes.

Can’t help feeling this money would be better pooled into a more defensively minded midfielder and right back to be honest, we have real problems in those positions.

That's the price the clubs want for young players with potential, Brighton will have paid around £37 million and he's played well, I dread to think how much he would be if he was English.

Minteh would be good if he was £40m and not out till December. He is having surgery and that may impact him after, so £70m makes 0 sense when we have no one to play on the right.

He's improved under Brighton, why would they sell him for what they paid?

I always try and look honestly at signings as if other clubs sign them.

For example I would not want Barcola going to City, Arsenal, Chelsea or Utd.

Arsenal linked to Alvarez scares the living daylights out of me. When they were linked to Rogers, I was worried and relieved to an extent he chose Chelsea. I think Bruno would strengthen every PL club. And when they signed Konsa, I thought what a waste of money and unnecessary signing.

City signing Anderson I was gutted as he'd be great for us and think he'll be good for them.

Personally I think Utd's transfer business has been poor and Spurs's looks to be decent for their level but those players wouldn't improve Liverpool, Arsenal or City.

Anyway back to Minteh I'm completely underwhelmed because if Utd, Chelsea, City or Arsenal were linked with him for 70 mill I don't think any fan would be jumping up and down telling the club to hijack the deal. And those clubs would definitely be getting pelters for him being injured.

If he does come in then I will 100% want him to do well but I'm not currently sold on the idea of him.

But the beauty is as a fan of the club I don't need to be, my opinion on anything is irrelevant.

Fantastic work rate, great energy, blistering pace, the physical attributes are all there, but there's just no end product. It's great having people who will run through walls for you, but at the same time, if that's about all they're good at then you end up with a wrecking ball when you actually need an architect.

The kid's still young, and there's plenty of room for improvement. The question is, can he make those improvements at a big club? Only one way to find out. Certainly wouldn't be my first choice, but if Iraola and co see the potential to mould something, then let's see what happens.

At the end of the day, we do need to recognise that we're never going to replicate what we had with Mo, and considering the lack of talent out there atm, we just need players who can break lines and feed Isak, so maybe the answer to the RW conundrum doesn't lie in the next potential goal-scoring mega star. I'm starting to convince myself Minteh might not be a bad shout.
