I've tried to be respectful of Slot and what he achieved with us, and letting bygones be bygones and all that conciliatory stuff. Then I just saw Iraola at Anfield watching Liverpool Women play vs. Everton. I don't even know what what to say, but the difference in approach and the contrast is just refreshing. Andoni there with his family watching our girls play instead of racing away to Spain.

I'm not even sure how many times Slot's family visited Liverpool.
People are different; I get it. I still respect Slot. But I just know I prefer our manager to be one of us. Early days, but Iraola clearly wants to be one of us! "Ain't heavy; he's my brother."

The way people talk about Slot you'd think he actively tried to destroy the club. He had two seasons as Liverpool manager, one of which he won the league and the other he had a bad season but in mitigation one of his players died.

Listen to what Andy Robertson said last week about last season at Liverpool. Slot leaving was the right decision but how anyone can hold a grudge against him is beyond me.

Some people would have him in prison, Fifth Element.

I don't see the connection between my post and yours! I thought it was a refreshing contrast that Iraola has embraced all things Liverpool which is something we talked about quite a bit during Slot's time. I also agree Jota's passing had a lot to do with last season's malaise, but I was talking about culture and assimilation, not serving prison time!

My post wasn't a dig at you specifically Noski, but just the fact that you used the phrase 'letting bygones be bygones' indicates some people still have a grudge against Slot. I've seen many people on here continue to spell his name in derogatory terms.

Bloke was here two years. Won a league. Leave it at that. Happy we have Iraola now and only care about this season. Slots name shouldn't even be getting brought up.

Got to be honest I've not given Slot a moments thought since he went & we got Iraola in - pastures new imo!

Must be the reason I've been so happily married all these years and not thought about the many that got away!

{Ed666's Note - I bet your Mrs isn’t thinking the same thing ?

?I suspect you're right there Ed!!

{Ed666's Note - as long as your happy and deluded mate that’s the main thing ?

I Rekon in that element and approach to the club - data driven (as Robbo described) and what seemed like disconnection with the club.

I think Liverpool people would connect with a manager who at the least appears grassroots. Hard to do that when you're apparently getting off every chance you get.

Is what it is really and it's not a stick to beat Slot with. He really did that to himself.

While I'm sure Iraola is very keen on immersing himself at the club and in the city, the PR folk at the club are very aware of the optics and things like Iraola sitting with his family and next to new sporting director Julian Ward at the women's game is a good look in a long international break.

That might be cynical but that's how it works unfortunately.
