Hi Eds

Random one for you: With Bezos and his pals investing circa $2 billion for circa 30% stake in us that values us at circa $6 billion - there or there abouts.

I'd suggest we are bigger than City but if we pretended all these charges weren't happening I'd have put City valuation close to that figure.

Obviously we are where we are and irrespective of what the final outcome will look like City will have a massive cloud over them now under these owners - which leads me on to my question, given everything that's happening and potential outcomes - do you see City essentially becoming a distressed asset and their value imploding? If I was a gazillionare I'd be offering them £1 to take it off their hands, nowhere near £5/6 Billion.

{Ed001's Note - unless the owners decide to sell, what does it matter?}

Bezos involvement in Liverpool is largely non-existent. He was a headline grabbing name that the media ran with. He just happens to be one of many clients of one of the 3 investment firms that have chipped in. Ironically Abu Dhabi's investment into Red Bird was about as relevant as Bezos' into K5 Sports.

If they're proven to have broken any laws, then maybe the choice to sell is made for them - Pretty sure Roman had little appetite to be booted out of Chelsea but sometimes decisions aren't always yours to make?

Don't see a world where if this all plays out that they can justify sticking around Ed? - what's the play: ok so we bought the club, bent and broke every rule, delivered success beyond the fans wildest dreams, got caught, got punished, maintained throughout they're not guilty, asked the fans to believe every word of it - then all turns out to be a load of lies - what then? We're sorry for lying and cheating but we're sticking around to keep the dark cloud over the club for as long as we stick around? City fans will forgive them for sure but can't see opposition clubs being as forgiving? For years they've been lauded as some kind a messiah. Do you think they'll have the appetite to hang around and be abused everywhere they go?

Obviously the money is irrelevant to them, I'm more thinking reputational damage and appetite for the PR cluster f**k and continued dark cloud with them sticking around if finally charged and heavily punished?

Gotta be some wealthy opportunists circling and smelling blood in the water? Also outside of sponsoring themselves would outside sponsors fancy being associated with them - from memory we had a few challenges following Suarez issues in terms of sponsors not wanting to associated with certain types of behaviour that can reflect badly on their brand image?

{Ed001's Note - could all have been said about Chelsea before they were bought for crazy money.}

City's valuation would be nowhere near Liverpool's, 115 or not.

The new investors value the club at $6billion because of the brand value and its reach/engagement.

City's brand is as artificial as their income and social media following.

Their true brand status is probably no different to that of other midtable PL clubs, and that would only be because of some of the new international supporters they have attracted in the Pep years.

FPF - Forbes have them valued at circa $5.5 billion - 3rd in Uk behind us and United, 7th Globally.

So not as far off as you might think mate.

Their first team squad has got to be pushing £2 billion, then the stadium, training ground, academy, hotel, TV money etc - think what you want about the size of the club etc but a regular champs league club in the Prem is worth a lot of cash no matter how big we might think they are - my original question was based on how much has been wiped off that figure now the truth is finally coming out.

Crazy horse, I think valuations in football are pretty pointless. Players, clubs are worth whatever the seller will accept. If Man City owner doesn't want to sell unless he gets £7b, some rich consortium decide they are willing to pay it then that's what the buyer values it at.

Perhaps Mansour could pretend to sell it to ADUG.

There is precedent - Chelsea keep selling bits of their portfolio to themselves. ?.

@Mancini are you saying that one of the 3 or 4 richest men in the world is a ho-hum insignificant event? I'd be willing to wager a small amount that not onl6 does he know what's going on, he'll also have a pretty good idea of club growth expectation over the next 5 or 10 years.

Forbes will be calculating that based on trusting the revenues that have been posted. That is for the birds now.
