Whats the latest on Xabi Alonso? We desperately need an old head in the middle to keep the ball, when we are holding onto a lead. Alonso is the next Pirlo/Scholes who can go on until 36/37 easily
{Ed002's Note - I really don't see a move to Liverpool happening in January. I see Alonso's options as a short-term contract in Madrid, Galatasaray (I can't see him moving there but there is interest), New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids or LA Galaxy (all possible) and finally Real Sociedad (in the future perhaps). I can't say the most likely thing to happen but I could give an opinion that he will stay to the summer and perhaps one more year in Madrid, move to the MLS (maybe the NY Red Bulls) and then return to Spain to end his career with Real Sociedad. Juventus is keeping a watching brief.}

What about James Milner be an option as RB? Right footed and always puts in a shift, his attacking pace is waining ala Valencia. Milner/ TAA for the RB position, making Clyne available for transfer.

Milner shouldn't be anywhere near the fullback positions - he was an emergency band aid at a time when it was required but we have a more complete squad now, it is not necessary.

Would Goretzka be an adequate replacement for Cou? Do you think if we made an offer of maybe £20m Schalke would be tempted to sell rather than lose him for free in the summer. I know rumours of him signing for Munich are doing the rounds but I wonder if Klopp could work his magic on him.

Is it correct that Barcelona can only afford to buy either Coutinho or Dembele not both? If that's the case upsetting 2 different clubs for their players when they only will purchase one is poor behavior. What happens to the player they don't take, that has to remain at the club after all the disruption caused.
