Few things to keep an eye on:

PSG will wrap up Godts by Monday.
Briefs of negotiations on Barcola will start to accelerate, we are aiming to get him in by the time we play Newcastle. Barcola fee will be close to 135M euros. PSG know we waited for Isak until the last day and broke the bank to get our man, they are hard operators and will know how desperate we are to replace Mo Salah. It will happen but not at the price we want.

Don't be surpised if things pick up next week.

We are also looking at stop gap options for ST (like Araujo)

Club does like Marmoush.

I don't think Cody leaves until we get a 80m+ offer now.

Jones will leave.

Also there is truth to Hector Fort links/appreciation. We went to Barcelona with another enquiry, but decided to bring Arajuo in on Iraola's requests, and it's a deal where we had no costs.

Shopping at PSG & Barcelona is ideal.

I think Marmoush is a great idea at the right price. He had a flying start, has shown there's a player there, but performances diminished amongst reduced playing time. A fresh start at a new club alongside his old partner Ekitike is the ideal situation for him.

120m euros, including add ons. Time will yet again prove itself the ultimate witness.

I like Marmoush but I'd prefer a loan with an option to buy. Hasn't been great over the last 12 months.

13 Aug 2026 22:32:02
Agreed, Wirtz. Are City willing to help us out like that though? A straight sale gets him off their books and frees up a place which benefits them, but a loan is essentially just giving us a dig-out.

13 Aug 2026 22:38:37
I doubt, but it will depend on what City do in terms of signings for their forward line. Remember, Savinho and Grealish have gone while City have largely focused on their midfield revamp this summer.

FWIW, I don't think Marmoush happens, but I think that's the sort of deal we would look to do for ST.

Mbaye is another one I feel might not really materialise, might be a last minute deal. Barcola will drag on but by Newcastle game will have accelerated in the media.

Hi OP, welcome to the boards, a helluva first post.

Do you have particular insight or are these rumours from social/X/websites?

13 Aug 2026 23:05:36
Yeah, some nice info, OP. Thanks for posting.

Yet another ITK. Must have heard that same line 20 times now. Expect things to ramp up next week. Ffs might as well face it, we're going into the season with the paper thin squad we have right now, and it's because of the incompetence of Hughes and those above him that should have sacked him months ago.

14 Aug 2026 02:54:37
Instead of waiting until last minute, what fun it would be to back out last minute for Barcola with PSG ending up with so many wingers.

14 Aug 2026 07:03:13
No links to the board haha, I have a few mates that pass info on and have been spot on in the past. I myself haven't posted yet on here because I usually know how it could be perceived.

For most, this summer feels like a rinse and repeat (it has been). We are also operating quite differently this year because last year we were aggressive and were big spenders, we came into this window with clubs knowing when we want a player we'll pay big sums (Wirtz, Ekitike, Isak).

PSG are the worst to deal with in terms of sales, they fleeced Milan for 75M euros on Goncalo Ramos.

Barcola will happen and we're nearing the end of the saga, but it's a big deal and we won't want our pants pulled down publicly, it really does set a precedent for future windows.

This summer has been very hard to call for multiple reasons. New manager, World Cup year + setting down a precedent that we aren't the kinds to continue to overpay. We also need to move on players to create room (we'll start seeing exits soon).

PSG are hard operators, the worst to deal with, know how desperate we are to replace Salah, and will make us pay more than we want, but shopping at PSG is 'ideal'?
And how are we setting down a precedent that we aren't the kinds to continue to overpay by paying a price that we don't want to for Barcola?
Genuine questions because I'm easily confused.

Shopping at PSG and Barcelona is ideal in the sense of the quality of players they possess. They are elite and proven.
