Could be the deal for RG won't go through in time. I would presume the medical was done hours ago. Maybe BM have decided against the deal and were trying to force it through still.

Na. We always take ages but it will be done in time.

2.) 01 Sep 2023 20:24:03
He's already been registered as a Liverpool player.

3.) 01 Sep 2023 20:33:49
Registered how? A deal has not yet been completed.

4.) 01 Sep 2023 20:40:04
An announcement is due to be made at 9pm. There’s no issue.

5.) 01 Sep 2023 20:44:26
Aren't most deals completed before medicals and medicals are only the last hurdle before sending paperwork to the league offices, with last hours of transfer window being exception.

6.) 01 Sep 2023 20:57:59
Sky Germany reporting done deal.

7.) 01 Sep 2023 21:48:50
Welcome to Liverpool Ryan Gravenberch
YNWA.

8.) 01 Sep 2023 21:52:12
Liverpool have confirmed the transfer.

9.) 01 Sep 2023 21:54:24
Formally on the site now.

10.) 01 Sep 2023 22:31:57
I’m surprised to be honest. I’m pretty sure I read on this very site that we weren’t going to sign anybody else as recently as yesterday.

Welcome to the Reds Ryan!

11.) 02 Sep 2023 07:57:29
WDW. Check your sources, it hasn't happened actually. Just another PR stunt by the club to keep the fans quiet. ?.

12.) 02 Sep 2023 08:17:45
Don’t worry WDW just wait for the meltdown when Salah asks to leave and we accept £200m within the next 5 days….

13.) 02 Sep 2023 09:55:58
1jj just out of curiosity what would your opinion be if that were to happen.

Personally I’d be gutted and concerned we are selling our best player knowing full well we can’t immediately replace him.

I think Mo wants to go Saudi as the deal is ridiculous and 200 mill is a huge amount of money to the club but in a situation where we can’t spend it on players it would simply boost the bank and weaken our chances on the pitch for at least 4 months.

Klopp has less than 2 seasons left also so next seasons window might come into that because do the club give him 200 mill to buy players that the new manager might not fancy or do they start the charm offensive and try to persuade Klopp to extend again.

I’ve got everything crossed that Mo stays this season and tomorrow isn’t the last time me and the boy get to see him at Anfield.

15.) 02 Sep 2023 15:47:03
1jj footballers are transient people they come and they go but the club always remains.

If Mo goes, he goes. We still have enough quality in the squad to really do something this season.

I fully expect Mo to stay at least until January, probably until next summer but there will be no meltdown from me if he decides he wants to go and the club decide to take the money.

16.) 02 Sep 2023 17:45:15
In time, many years from now, Mohammed Salah will be considered one of the club's all time legends. But everything has an expiry date; your footballing skills and your time at any club. And so if it has to be now, then it is what it is. If it's later then it's later. But one thing is indisputable; no player is more important than the club. Players come and go.

17.) 02 Sep 2023 18:29:55
Ultimately I think we should accept it if it is crazy money. Fair enough we can’t go into the market again til January but we would have time to plan who we want. That being said, we didn’t seem to be well prepared for this years transfer window.

I personally love Mo, think he is a legend and unfairly gets a hard time from some fans. I don’t know why? But each to their own I suppose. Would be sad to see him go. Always said to see a good player go.

18.) 03 Sep 2023 01:55:45
If they bid something like 200m I’d try to see if we can agree a deal for Jan, and plan properly for a replacement. Even if that’s not an option however, I think it’s difficult to turn that type of money down for a 31yr old who’s head is turned (assuming he’s asking for the move)

After this weekend, we have roughly 15 PL games until the Jan window reopens, and 4 very capable forwards in Diaz, Jota, Nunez and Gakpo, with Szobo, Elliott and Doak also able to fill in at RW if we need them.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, as the guy is a legend and our best player, but I would be tempted if he reall wanted to go, the 200m cash was mostly upfront, and we knew there was a player we could get in Jan to build the future on (and for 200m I’m talking Mbappe, Haaland, Bellingham type quality) .

19.) 03 Sep 2023 06:38:21
@ArAy, will Salah be like, say, Elisha Scott? Not having a go, just saying that legends tend to be legends as long as someone remembers them. It always reaches a point when nobody really remembers.

20.) 03 Sep 2023 12:59:28
@west derby I think todays players will live longer in the memory purely due to the amount of footage there is.

21.) 04 Sep 2023 13:01:31
This is quite ironic because you clearly remember Elisha Scott, even know the point you were making was saying people won’t remember Salah? Haha. Look according to TalkSPORT, gabby Agbonlahor is an Aston Villa legend, so if he gets legendary status then I think Salah needs a small country named after him, his own currency and maybe a religion too haha. All jokes aside though, he’s a good lad and I want him to stay.

Just putting it out there, but why does Klopp not change up the tactics, say play 3 at the back, with Nunez up top with Salah or Gakpo? Release the fullbacks with a bit more cover at the back with more bodies in centre mid? Every game its 4 3 3 and now very rarely works.

BadgerRed

1.) 05 Apr 2023 08:29:57
Because as good as Klopp is, he has weaknesses which are 1) he’s stubborn 2) he only has a plan A and doesn’t appear to care if the players he has are able to play it and 3) he’s too loyal and therefore waits too long to replace players who he sees as not letting him down.

2.) 05 Apr 2023 08:45:33
I'm sure someone will know better than me but it makes sense when you have two fullbacks who generally attack better than they defend.

3.) 05 Apr 2023 08:45:41
Yeah the Nunez left wing experiment needs to end. He's sorted his finishing out, but he's not getting any service now.

4.) 05 Apr 2023 09:01:06
The bodies are there. The minds are not. No formation change will help this.

5.) 05 Apr 2023 10:32:23
Robertson is not an offensive full back. So this whole point of “we have attacking full back” is naive. Robertson has been crap this season, just that team doesn’t target his area thanks to VVD and an actual midfielder (LCM)
Klopp has no intention to play 3 at the back, we have a bucket load of attackers and Klopp is trying to fit them all!

6.) 05 Apr 2023 10:49:41
I find Robertson offensive ?.

7.) 05 Apr 2023 10:59:07
I think we’ve learned he’s just not a miracle worker, everyone kept going on about Guardiola needing the best players to win, Klopp is the very same and there’s nothing wrong with that it’s on us to bring in the best players for him to use.

8.) 05 Apr 2023 11:27:32
But OneKiss he did work miracles for the past 6 years, with a decent investment. Not too much, not less either. I would say that's about the minimum investment you need to actually compete at the top for so many years. But mostly it worked, because we bought in the right players. Currently, I don't think we have the right plan really.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Nunez but I don't think he was what we actually needed, unless we were to change our style of play in terms of how we attack (and there has been no sign of that yet) . A classic No.9 makes sense with a creative midfield, not with our current lot.

9.) 05 Apr 2023 11:51:41
You know someone is talking nonsense though when they state that the defender with the record for providing assists in the premier league is not an attacking player.

06 Nov 2022 09:07:22
Keita out again. I really don't understand why his contract isn't terminated. Anyone else in another job off sick so often for o long would be canned.

BadgerRed

1.) 06 Nov 2022 09:40:22
OP, I feel you BUT I think you need to have the player agree to the contract cancellation hence, the term “by mutual consent”. Now I could b wrong BUT that’s as much as I know.

As for Naby, I think he’s already checked out and frankly, so have I since plast season. Just counting the days till May when he and Ox will finally be gone. He’s been a flop and I strongly guess Klopp regrets moving heaven and earth (and tapping him up) to sign him. It is what it is.

2.) 06 Nov 2022 09:57:52
It would be interesting to work out how much players like Ox, Naby, Adrian and Phillips etc have actually cost the club per game over the years.

I appreciate these lads also train with the first team but for 50-140k a week in wages it’s a lot of money down the toilet.

We could have paid our stadium and training ground loans off.

3.) 06 Nov 2022 10:09:39
Ox would need to be canned too then?

4.) 06 Nov 2022 10:40:51
Olied, I agree, Keita has been an unmitigated disaster and I think Ed02 had warned us from the beginning about this signing.
I do not think Keita will play again for Liverpool, the only positive contribution he can make is to leave and get his wages off the books.

5.) 06 Nov 2022 11:21:26
Klopp's loyalty can be stubborn at times, and to the detriment of the team. I understand that his relationship and positive effect on players goes way beyond many managers abilities in that department, only there needs to be a ruthlessness at the right times to keep things in balance.
I would (probably wrongly ) guess that NK is being kept fit in order to maybe sell in Jan in order to get a small fee and to remove him from the wage bill.
Good riddance, the guy is a wide boy with a bad attitude.

6.) 06 Nov 2022 11:30:09
The good thing is that in 6 months time we’ll not have to talk about Naby and Ox anymore.

I just hope that our next midfield signings come in without poor injury histories.

7.) 06 Nov 2022 11:37:28
I can feel sorry for players like the Ox who get injured because you know it hurts him to be not playing, you see it when he does actually play that he is willing to give it his all.

Same can’t be said for Keita, what an absolute stinker of a signing. I’ve seen him have good moments in games but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him have a good whole game and put in a shift the whole time he’s been on the pitch.

I know we have had some shocking signings over the years but when you take in transfer fee, wages and potential into account he’s got to be up there with the worst of them. The guy worked hard to get a big money move, got it and then switched off and watched the money roll in.

8.) 06 Nov 2022 11:53:01
Agree with Mikey. Ox and Keita aren't the same category of player imo.

They've both had injury problems, but the similarity ends there. Keita was nearly injury free last season (only missed about 5 or 6 through injury) and still only played well enough about 4 times. He consistently hasn't worked hard enough on the pitch when fit, and never looked like a £60m player. Ox on the other hand actually had a couple of decent spells in his Liverpool career where he looked a £40m player before being completely depleted by injuries.

Obviously neither has a meaningful role to play at the club anymore, and it's hard to think about £100m in fees plus £300k a week in wages between two players who aren't doing much for us, when most want to see that sort of money invested in new midfielders, but I have some sympathy for Ox. Keita's deficiencies on the other hand a largely down to his attitude.

9.) 06 Nov 2022 12:04:41
Sr good post mate. I think Ox was injury free all last season also though. Klopp chose not to use him though which paints its own picture.

10.) 06 Nov 2022 12:08:05
In fairness to Phillips and Adrian, when they are needed they’re available and put a shift in. Can’t say that about Keita.

11.) 06 Nov 2022 12:10:52
Didn’t Ed001 say that Keita’s signing was at the recommendation of Mane, and by-passed the usual FSG procedures?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, they missed out the usually very thorough background checks as Mane vouched for him. They have certainly learnt from that error though, as this summer showed when they refused to take a risk on a midfielder when Klopp finally decided to sign one. FSG wanted to vet him first before making any signing.}

12.) 06 Nov 2022 12:12:18
So SR, Keita's injuries are down to his attitude? Keita played well in 4 games in a season that we got to 3 finals and lost by a point in the League. Did you know in most of the negative results Liverpool had last season that Keita was hardly involved in? Ox has been at LFC a season more than Keita and only played 17 more games and scored a few extra goals?
I get that Keita isn't a fans favourite and he isn't mine either but I don't understand the excuses made for 1 player against another. Both in general were disasters for the team in my opinion and I really don't see much difference in either player.

{Ed001's Note - there is a huge difference. Ox tries, Keita coasts. The least we should expect of any player is effort and he makes none, that is why no one will make excuses for him.}

13.) 06 Nov 2022 12:39:57
I think you're actually right there JK. He filled in for Salah during the AFCON, did ok, scored a couple of times and then just disappeared from selection apart from a cup game. And then he starts this season injured? Strange. I wonder is it a case that the medical staff know he'll just break if played more than X amount of times.

Irish, I can't help you if you didn't actually watch Keita last season. I'm aware of what the results were like, but he personally was not good enough most of the time. That we still won with him routinely disappearing after the first 15 minutes of the game tells you a lot about the other 10 players on the pitch.

14.) 06 Nov 2022 12:54:48
And to think there were rumours we were trying to give him a new contract. Beggars belief really.

15.) 06 Nov 2022 13:04:11
I can’t stand players that are never Fit. Waste of space in the squad. 1/ 2 games fair enough but if they’re missing 80% of every single season what’s point.

16.) 06 Nov 2022 13:11:37
I was never one for believing teams can succeed with only 10 players on the pitch SR, brings me back to the old Gini days ?.

17.) 06 Nov 2022 13:15:48
If Keita is so bad why were we trying to sign him up again.

18.) 06 Nov 2022 13:19:40
Keita's "coasting" does more for the team than Ox's "trying", that at the very least should be unquestionable.

19.) 06 Nov 2022 13:34:55
We’re suckers for an injury prone midfielder. If there one available, you can be sure we’re near the front of the queue.

20.) 06 Nov 2022 13:49:26
That is an expensive 60M gamble that didn't work out well.

21.) 06 Nov 2022 14:10:55
Sooner we get rid of that waste of space the better.

22.) 06 Nov 2022 14:39:01
Wasn’t Naby all over the media and internet though for being in trouble.

Bloody Mane must have hid Fsg’s newspapers and unplugged their internet routers to get his mate in ?.

23.) 06 Nov 2022 23:28:42
I actually love Ox cos he’s a good lad and actually cares. Never ducked out of challenges and never stops trying for the team. The complete opposite is the case for Naby and I don’t blame FSG at all for being more forceful and wanting extra vetting of players. They’ve been burned once before after they trusted Klopp’s recommendation via Mane. After all, we’re not City who can afford to fix expensive mistakes the very next season.

24.) 06 Nov 2022 23:30:32
JK 23
Adrian covered for Alisson quite admirably for a time and also won us the UEFA Super Cup if I recall.
Saves from Kovacic, Abraham, Mount and the penalty save,
