Good afternoon, one for ed2, if possible. It's been doing the rounds that Liverpool are edging closer to an agreement with Brighton for Alexis Mac Allister. Does this tally up with your understanding at all? Have talks even begun? Thanks in advance. Have a great day all.

{Ed002's Note - I understand that an agreement has been reached with the player's representatives over the deal the player will get but I am not aware of any agreement with Brighton.}

Really appreciative of the reply, Ed. Thank you.

Tbh that was the bit I was worried about, if Mac was keen with no CL. Hopefully a fair deal can be struck with Brighton.

Ed002 do we have permission to speak to his agent from Brighton or was this another trip to Blackpool?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool can speak with his representatives.

Even objectively I would choose Liverpool with no champs over a team like United. World class manager who will be clearly able to sell this season as a blip.

Cheers as always for the valuable info ed2.
Presumably, liverpool and Brighton have spoken and would be at least singing from the same hymn sheet regarding a price, given they’ve allowed us to have discussions with the player? Hence, a deal should be fairly easy to finalise?

{Ed002's Note - They don’t want him to leave and know of interest from elsewhere.}

Man City interested also it seems.

City and United are supposedly interested. If it gets into a bidding war I don’t like our chances.

Hate to say I told you so ed002.

{Ed002's Note - What did you tell me?}

Me neither stone. Arsenal interested in Mount also now. we could well see all our supposedly main targets go elsewhere. I hope the back up list is long.

I think this is getting done. Not far away.

{Ed002's Note - What has happened the ?}

Cheers for that Ed. A quick question mate that probably only you know.

Did Liverpool take a look at Mac Alister before the World Cup? Or has our interest been since then?

{Ed002's Note - It will be from before.}

Is there a fixed sale price in his contract as reported? at least there'd be no bidding war if so.

{Ed002's Note - Not as such - there is no release clause. There is a termination clause but the terms are not included in the TMS. I can tell you only that such clauses are unusual but generally put the decision in the hands of the player if an offer over what the selling club wants for the player. I am not sure it will be helpful to Liverpool or any other interested side.}

Ed have you any idea at this stage where the player wants to move to based on what you have heard please? Can’t help but think if City and Chelsea are interested we won’t be able to compete financially.

{Ed002's Note - If the player has agreed terms with Liverpool he would accept the move. But other sides may make an offer to Brighton that is better. We will see.}

Sounds like the Bellingham situation.

If the offer is over £40 mill including add ons, walk away, this is why it is worth going all in for a top star instead of 2/ 3 mid level, I'd rather have 1 game changer that makes other teams go, wow, than 2/ 3 that scream, erm there ok, let's see how they pan out.

“If the offer is over £40 mill including add ons, walk away”

You’re living in dream land if you think it will be less than £40m mate.

Also, who’s to say Alexis Max Alister can’t be a “game changer” for us? He’s only 24 too so should have lots left to give and time to develop further.

@Navy sorry Pal the price for him is crazy, £70 mill yet we will stop (reportably) at £85 mill for Bellingham, add Mount into that, who wants big wages too, then for me, I'd take Bellingham over the combined fee, wages etc that them 2 would cost, it's a no brainer. Add into the fact that Bellingham is desperate to come and Mount doesn't really want to leave Chelsea, it's a sour deal.

"Crazy money, big wages blah blah blah"

It's put up or shut time for LFC, isn't it?

Either pay what's necessary to bring in the players you want from other EPL clubs, or do what the likes of Brighton and Benfica do and bring in the young, unproven talent from Gremio, Independiente, Boca Juniors, etc for 5 or 10 million, and turn them into PL players.

No room for the cheap or the lazy at this level of the game.

@Red, you have described perfectly why our owners should be selling up.
