Hi Ed2 we have been linked with Douglas Luiz is this just paper talk or are we actually considering him?

From what I saw of Endo yesterday I think we need another DM. Decent player and will improve but doesn’t have the pace or physicality needed to be an upgrade on Fab and improve us as a team.

I thought endo played well. Didn’t take risks, was just a solid performance, and that’s all could ask of him seeing it’s his first start in premier league game!

I think it's perfectly rational to think Endo did fine and that we still ideally should sign somebody else to start ahead of him. That's where I sit

As for Douglas Luiz, I really rate him as a player. But his performances have dramatically improved since Emery gave him more license to go forward, so I'm not sure he's the answer as a DM.

Endo did well, only his 2nd game in a week, no preseaon and we were down to 10men, Game play out the window, But he did well, give him time to gel he will do well.

Davey I totally agree with the way we play we need a Dm that is fast can cover lots of spaces but needs to be good on the ball. It’s sounds like one hell of a player buts that’s what we need. It’s only 2 games in for Endo and I can’t think of a worse scenario he could have been chucked in. I thought it did ok in both games but his biggest concern for me is his pace. If his reading of the game can make up for his lack of pace only time will tell.
But before the window closes I would love another dn and cb. Gomez and Quansah did give me a bit of hope especially Gomez after what he has been through great to see him come on and perform like he did.

I thought Lavia was a perfect fit Grino to grow and develop in the role alongside Bajcetic. Home grown too to allow a euro spot for CB. The negotiation team absolutely botched it.

And worse they had little in the way of backup plan.

But I don't want to get back into that after a great weekend. Just hoping now we get a decent addition or two to help this group through the multi game weeks. I so want to be positive now after a good start. Maybe, just maybe Jorg and co will have a nice surprise for us this week.

Brummyred, not sure endo is fully fit enuff to even play 90 mins so give him time to get up to speed physically, be more familiar with the system and his team mates and judge his pace and physicality at that time. Now keep in mind that Japanese footballers are not known for being physical beasts nor for having great athleticism. Just saying.

It’s far too early to judge Endo. It took Fabinho a good half a season before he was getting regular starts for us and he didn’t look as good as he turned out to be in his first few games for us. Rodri at City who is definitely one of the top CDM’s in the world now, took time to adapt the speed of the premier league and wasn’t great in the early stages of his City career. In fairness our midfield is new, they have all recently joined the club and are getting used to how we play and playing with eachother. They’re no doubting the talent or Szobo and Macca. Ideally yes it would be nice to bring in another CDM/ CM and I hope we do but, I honestly think it’s too early to judge Endo. He has a very good reputation for the Japan national team and from his time in the Bundesliga. Give the lad a chance. Newcastle also have an excellent Midfield 3, they have a lot of physicality and ability they will give a tough game to every team in the league.

As Klopp said, Endo doesn’t even know how we play yet. He’s been here less than a fortnight and it’s way too early to judge. As has been said, I think he is a bridge between Fabs and the next fully fledged DCM, it might be Baj or it might be someone we sign before the end of the window, or quite possibly in January (Andre) but either way I think Endo will probably do a good, solid job for us. Whilst he’s not up to speed yet, he’s definitely no mug.

Douglas Luiz? I am sure he just signed a new deal and Villa are flush. Perhaps there's a a release clause given his last contract ran down to the wire.
