Why should it be a short call? Did he not come on and do well against Newcastle while being a man down. Did he not play well alongside VVD just a couple years ago? He is young and has had some serious injuries maybe confidence was a thing once he came back or the worry of getting injured again so psychological. Quality player that needs to be appreciated more. Stop bad mouthing OUR players and show support.

Yeah he’s hd injuries and has at times lost form, but he’s HG, still young, bags of potential and even if not a starter can cover across the whole back four. I would be selling Matip, Phillips, Tsimikas before I even considered Gomez going. Really hope he doesn’t leave.

I'd rather sell Matip than Gomez, but you can't tell a buyer whom he should be buying. I guess Klopp and management have decided that he wants to give Matip a handshake next summer and let him go off on a free for services rendered.

On the other hand, and in the end, it's always about the money and how much, more precisely. The club was certainly not planning on selling Fabinho and Henderson this summer, until the "right" money came in. I think the same would apply to Gomez. If they got 25-30 Million, I think they would think about it and consider if Schuurs could be brought in as a replacement for around the same amount.

Brisbane have day off. If Gomez can get back to his best I would start him over Konate every time in are title winning season and the season before his performances are way better than anything I’ve seen from Konate and if you take the 3 bad injuries he has had I would say as an overall he stays fit better not sure what’s the most games Konate as played for us on the trot without a muscle injury.
Would love the Saudis to make a move for Matip.

If they will pay a decent amount, its surely worth considering, depending on if we can get a replacement.
We need non injury prone players above all else, especially as we seem to have 3 in defence.

Well that's the key isn't it, Jay? There's less than a week left in the window. Unless we have a replacement (who ideally would want to by HG btw) lined up and a fair bit of groundwork done on the transfer already, it's a risk to sell a squad player.

Joe's best ever run of form for the club was alongside van Dijk, Ron.

imo, Joe tends to play fine for a while and then makes a mistake, let's it get to him and then his head is gone for at least the next 3 games.

It's unfortunate cos if he stopped making mistakes he'd be fine, (as opposed to a defender who doesn't make obvious mistakes, but just isn't good enough) but you can't ignore the the mistakes cos they cost us points and the player isn't dependable.

Hopefully he can cut them out, at least whilst he has to fill in for Virgil and Konate.
