So another game another injury . This is beyond ridiculous and is now a farce. Take out Shaqiri and Naby who will be fit for 4 games between them this season and are just at the club now to keep the physios warm. Then you look at Thiago who will maybe play 10 games this season if his Bayern injury record is anything to go on . And VvD and Gomez who will likely not be back this season. And Ox who may stay fit until February then be out another 6 weeks. Add in Jota who will be missing until February and Matip who will be injured on and off all season its a wonder we are where we are . It is a farce as I said. Any other team with these injuries all at once would be mid table. Fair play to the lads .

The lowest number of games Thiago played for Bayern in the last 5 seasons was 32. The other 4 were 40+ apps. It's not his fault a dirty player from a dirty team decided to kick him on the knee and put him out for months.

Yes SR - but he only played 150 league games in 7 seasons with BM which is just about 20 a season. Obviously his injury is very real so we can only hope he recovers to play 15 league games for us this season.

Kbl if you go onto his season stats mate by each individual season his numbers are pretty good. He had a really bad injury in one of the seasons so missed most of it but after that he was involved a hell of a lot in the league squads. Germany only play 34 league games and quite a few of the games he didn’t play in were because he was being rested to play in the CL but was still in the match day squad and not injured.

His first two seasons were worse than his last 5, he played 23 league games between them. His average since then has been about 25-26 league games per season. Plus Champions League, which were 9 or 10 for him every season in last five bar one. And usually about 5 or 6 in the cup too. So that's 35-40 games he should be reasonably expected to manage each season. Bear in mind, we wouldn't use him in the cups, so all of those games would be league or Champions league for us.

My point is that there seems to be a narrative that Thiago was some sort of dreadful Aurelioesque sick note who we should've expected to miss half the season injured and therefore not signed.

This is not true. What actually happened is that we signed a player who misses about 10 games a season (idk how many of the games he didn't play are rotation and how many are injury), something which would be perfectly manageable, and offset by the quality he has for the 40 odd games he can play. Then on his 2nd appearance someone went over the top and into his knee and put him out long term. As we saw in that very game, that can happen to someone who has never missed games through injury (Virgil) .

Thiago league stats where he’s been in the league match day squad.

13/ 14 - 19 times. Serious injury
14/ 15 - 8 times. Serious injury
15/ 16 - 31 times
16/ 17 - 30 times
17/ 18 - 20 times - serious injury
18/ 19 - 30 times
19/ 29 - 25 times.

His 14/ 15 season will always drag his overall stats down but whilst he doesn’t make every game like Wiji he has had 3 serious injuries. But even Hendo our captain marvel doesn’t make every league squad every season or even our world class keeper Allison.

I for one cannot wait for Thiago to come back as he’s a match winner.

Got smashed by a red card challenge that could have broken his lower leg or wrecked his knee so, in that respect, we’re fortunate he is not already written off for the season. Debate his Bayern fitness record by all means but the fact he is injured at the moment is down to an appalling challenge.

RR is bang on, that challenge was much worse then the one by pickford so I'm just happy he will return this season. I've seen those type of tackles end seasons before.

Apparently Klopp has said Tsmikas has a similar injury to Jota from wed night. We’re like the walking wounded this season.

{Ed025's Note - really JK?...i never heard anything about liverpool having injuries.. :)

It sounds like people are blaming Thiago for almost getting his leg snapped in half.

Ed0025 just the 86 mate. Nothing to worry about though. Bill gates is going to sort us a vaccine out to get them all back for wed.

{Ed025's Note - that would not surprise me in the slightest JK mate.. :)

Personally, I'm done with Keita, OX, Shaq and Origi. Just move them on for what we can get and give Elliot, Clarkson, Cain, Glatzel etc a chance. At least the kids will be available for most times and can only get better unlike the aforementioned senior players.

{Ed001's Note - the Glatzel that has just suffered another long term injury you mean? That Glatzel has been injured as much as Ox sadly or he would probably already have had his chance.}

IB, it’s all well and good saying just throw the youngsters in but look at how our supporters abused Neco Williams after a couple of minor mistakes.

Can someone please, remind the OP that Thiago is out injured due to a dreadful tackle on his knee during a game? Does the OP realize that Thiago is lucky not to have been ruled out for the whole season as a result of said dreadful tackle? Thanks.

Also, this whole pathetic narrative that Thiago is some kind of sick note has no basis in fact and is nothing but made up crap. The stats bear that out during his time at Bayern. Yes, he picked up a couple of long term injuries but overall, he has averaged over 30 plus games a season 5Bundesliga is 34 games a season) and we are not accounting for games he missed due to rotation or rest period during the season.

Pls, stop creating probs. where there aren't any. We have enuff probs. in real life to deal with already and we don't need people making them up cos it will only make things worse.

Yet Klopp plays all the players in a nothing game midweek. We look like a team that’s crawling to January, I hope we have a defender lined up that can come in on New Years Day because we will crumble to Europa League places if we don’t.
