Hi Eds

Lots of reports LFC are keen on Dusan Vlahovic, is there interest. Like the look of him.

Doogis

{Ed002's Note - Dusan Vlahovic (S) Milan see the player as an Ibrahimovic back up and possible replacement - Spurs have the same view in respect of Kane - and Dortmund do in respect of Haaland. Roma, Juventus and Atletico Madrid offer another option which would see him as a starter. Manchester City approached Fiorentina and were told that the aking price will be set above €50M which came as a surprise. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool to Fiorentina.}

1.) 09 May 2021 19:54:44
Ed2 do you see Kane leaving Spurs this summer? Is there any serious interest in him?

{Ed002's Note - There will be interest from a few sides if he is available.}

2.) 10 May 2021 12:16:02
Big “IF” they will let him go the current market has decimated his value.

{Ed002's Note - They won't see that and you would be looking at perhaps £150M.

3.) 10 May 2021 13:47:54
I see Man U and possibly Man City going in for Kane. Man U will probably put him high on their list, if not number 1 and will have the financial muscle to afford the fee and wages involved.

{Ed002's Note - Harry Kane (S) If Kane became available then PSG and the Manchester clubs would no doubt be keen - other clubs who can afford him such as Chelsea and Bayern Munich would certainly be asked if they were interested. If it happens it could become a huge auction.}

4.) 10 May 2021 21:37:06
£180m IMO. I didn’t think Bayern would be able to afford him.

18 May 2020 16:52:22
Hi Eds, reading reports we are interested in Zaniolo. Quality player, but is there any truth in it?

Doogis

{Ed002's Note - Nicolo Zaniolo (AM) It is thought that Juventus could offer Bernardeschi plus cash to Roma, but it is really cash Roma need and NZ remains sidelined with a very serious knee injury although he hopes to play this season - Roma are not looking to sell and have others they would like to sell first. There problems stem from a bad year from Monchi leading to wasting money they could not recover, and an owner who now won't put money in as he is looking to sell, and buyers, in the Friedkin Group, who are looking for a bargain. Prior interest of Barcelona, Bayern, Milan, Newcastle and a very good offer from Chelsea with the efforts of Mino have been rejected to stay at Roma or at least in Italy. Liverpool do not appear to fit in to this picture at all and certainly have not made any approach for the player.

1.) 18 May 2020 21:16:18
Chelsea yes Liverpool standard no.

2.) 19 May 2020 08:25:11
Acered, seems like you've forgotten about that spanking our boys gave you in the FA Cup shortly before football was stopped then? ;-)

3.) 19 May 2020 09:33:24
Yes Jackson that indeed would have been when you spanked our weakened team just after we had spanked you in the league and supercup 😂.

4.) 19 May 2020 11:13:22
You call winning on penalties spanking? :-) well I guess each can give it the interpretation he/ she wants. But to me that's not spanking, it's winning an evenly contested match.

And I know it wasn't your complete first choice XI in FA Cup, just like ours wasn't first choice either. I'd say we matched up very well with you guys this season funnily enough. Obviously you've been miles better overall, but in the direct contests it's been very balanced in my opinion.

5.) 19 May 2020 19:56:50
No problem with that Jackson keep well.

6.) 19 May 2020 21:13:25
Likewise, Acered :)

Question for ed001- do you rate Frederico Chiesa and do you think he could fit into one of our front 3 positions? Seemed like he has quality and ran himself into the ground in the euros.

Doogis

{Ed001's Note - I like him a lot and yes I think he could. In fact he is probably the best alternative I can think of to our front 3, if we needed to replace one.}

1.) 19 Jul 2021 06:59:32
Chiesa is a top class player and has improved enormously in the past year. At Fiorentina I thought he was hard-working and agile though lacking in top-end quality, but he’s developed into a world-class attacker. Fast, two-footed, can finish with both feet and head, attacks space meaning he can get his team up the pitch - he’s amazing.

2.) 19 Jul 2021 08:35:10
Chiesa would be an absolute awesome signing! 100% would fit straight in our team. As you listed already he has everything but what stud out the most to me was his engine he never stops. I can’t remember who owns him though.

3.) 19 Jul 2021 10:35:48
A player klopp likes according to Ed 2. He would be my choice to replace any of the front 3 but I don't believe Juve are willing to sell this summer. If one of mane or salah are sold next summer for big money maybe we will look to him?

{Ed002's Note - Juventus cannot sell Chiesa, they don't own him.}

4.) 19 Jul 2021 10:58:10
What about Dani Olmo? Maybe not as proven goalscorer as Chiessa, but a year younger, crafty with high engyne, and versatile to play every forward position. Also much attenable since he's at Leipzig

Just curious to know your thoughts (Eds and everyone else) about how he would fit with Klopp and Liverpool style.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest in him.}

5.) 19 Jul 2021 10:49:34
Spot on, Ed01. Chiesa is absolutely brilliant and have been watching him at Fiorentina a fair bit before he moved to Juve. At Juve, he is the only player that offers any type of width and pace and goal threat out wide. The old guy CR7 is just taking up space, IMO but that's another debate for another time.

The kid plays just like his dad Enrico played: Pace, power, fearlessness, relentless running (can run for days), desire and a true threat to run in behind and can score goals with either foot. I would take him in a snap. If ever we needed a Salah or Mane replacement, we should be rattling that cage, for sure instead of the useless Traore or the promising Sarr. Chiesa is so far ahead of them and his ceiling is pretty high, it's ridiculous.

As for who owns him, I think he still belongs to Fiorentina cos Juve only got him on a 9m pound loan. Maybe Ed01 can confirm or disprove this piece of info.

{Ed001's Note - isn't it a loan to buy? In which case I am not sure, it would depend on what the contract states, ie if it is an obligation to buy it would be different from an option to buy in terms of negotiations.}

6.) 19 Jul 2021 11:49:03
Indeed, Ed01. I don't even know how long the loan is for so there's that also. We will have to see what happens going forward. Thanks as always, for your response. Cheers, bro.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome Oli.}

7.) 19 Jul 2021 15:31:16
Football Manager (I know, the font of all football knowledge) has his loan as being made permanent after 50 games played for Juve or something like that, over the course of a 2 year loan. If that's the case, I would expect Juve to sign him permanently, as even if they are not planning on keeping him, they'd be able to sell him for far more than the agreed price with Fiorentina.

Of course, this could be completely false!

02 Jun 2021 22:36:36
Ed002- should I count on lfc signing Daka? Or is it unlikely?

Doogis

{Ed002's Note - Please search. Maybe at best.}

1.) 03 Jun 2021 10:50:01
Maybe is better than none. I’ll take that!

19 Sep 2020 17:09:58
Ed002- how do buy back clauses work? Is it limited to 1 year after the sale and is the price set beforehand? Or is it just 1st refusal should they want to sell? Cheers.

Doogis

{Ed002's Note - The most common way is that for a fixed period, typically two or three years, the club will have the opportunity to match any offer made (if the player is to be sold) by another club and buy back the player if he agrees. Rarely, clubs have the opportunity to buy a player back at a fixed price when a player is put up for sale of a two or three year period (this is what Chelsea used with a couple of players although they later negotiated a deal which gives them a percentage of the sale). Finally there is a very uncommon variant of this where by the club have the opportunity to buy back the player at a fixed fee in year one, a different fixed fee in year two and another different fixed fee in year three if put up for sale. This was used by Barcelona when Romeu was sold.}

1.) 19 Sep 2020 19:44:37
Brilliant thanks.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 05:23:36
But don't we pay 99% of transfer fees that way. I still don't quite get our lack of funds completely. We were hit by the C.V. but economics are relative. The rest of the world literally suffered too. Oh well, who cares? Big names through the door. Was happy with our squad, now very confident.

{Ed0666's Note - that’s why we don’t worry ourselves with the minor details liKe finances Robbie. We leave it to the ladies and gentleman that went to school 😂

12 Jul 2020 20:18:06
Question for Ed001- do you rate Tielemans, and would he fit in our midfield 3? Cheers.

Doogis

{Ed001's Note - no, he doesn't work hard enough defensively, he is half-arsed with his press and tracking back. Happy to go all out for glory but not so keen on the hard yards chasing back.}

1.) 12 Jul 2020 20:57:57
Sounds like an attitude he learned from his current manager.

2.) 12 Jul 2020 21:22:59
Other than KDB who we would never have a hope in signing, who would actually come in and boost our midfield. I'm talking about a unicorn midfielder who tracks back presses and wins the ball, picks a pass through a needles eye and can crakc a 30 yarder like stevie.

3.) 12 Jul 2020 21:37:01
Zielinski would be perfect.

4.) 12 Jul 2020 21:51:26
Sounds like gini pre-liverpool ed!

5.) 12 Jul 2020 21:56:46
You don't need to be an expert to see that the two weakest links in our starting XI are Wijnaldum and Gomez. Therefore it's no surprise when Ed002 tells us we are interested in a starting centre back and an attacking midfielder.

Tielemans is definitely not the answer mind you.

6.) 12 Jul 2020 22:14:22
RM - Bit harsh on Brendan there mate, sure he worked pretty hard to get to where he is. Don’t think attitude was a problem, just not quite good enough.

7.) 12 Jul 2020 22:44:27
Harvey how are they week points do you watch us play Gini is a great player his work rate is top notch he is so strong on the ball I really don’t know who you are watching. And Gomez is a class cb I can’t think of a better cb of his age in world football. Maybe ed001 can tell us of a better cb in world football that has just turned 23.

{Ed001's Note - not that I can think of.}

8.) 12 Jul 2020 22:47:47
Wjinaldum is a classy player. He's been brilliant this season and last.

9.) 12 Jul 2020 22:56:15
Harvey’s Man Bun, after reading your posts the last couple of days you are clearly no expert.

10.) 12 Jul 2020 23:34:25
Understand that "weakest links" does not mean i think they are weak players. Gomez and Gini are very good players. The other 9 players in our team are arguably the best the best in the world at what they do though. Teams target Gomez all the time, and Gini is not world class.

Someone above implied you need a "unicorn midfielder" to improve on what we have. That's simply not true is it. Fernandes was just signed by Man Utd from the Portuguese league and he is blatantly a better player than Wijnaldum. I'm sure Liverpool's scouts aren't acting as arrogant and complacent as the fans who seemingly believe that one league title makes our entire 25 man squad the best in the world.

Gomez may be the best u23 centre back in the world but that doesn't mean we shouldn't look to a sign someone to push him to be better. Same goes for Wijnaldum.

11.) 13 Jul 2020 00:25:30
I know, gomez is excellent too. I haven't watched us this season once and thought this position or that position is the weak link. The team compliment each other brilliantly. Teams need different types of player, wjinaldum's game goes under the radar sometimes. He works incredibly hard, he keeps calm under pressure. Shields the ball well, runs with the ball well. He can shoot, he can pass and he can tackle, and he's not bad in the air either. I reckon he has the type of mentality that is such a a strong part of our success.
I'll always love him for his goals against Barcelona but its more than n just sentimentality with gini. I'd be gutted if we lost him, I really hope he signs a new contract. I'm sure he will. Wasn't he like, super highly thought of as an u15. I mean he's always been highly thought of but he was like the best player in the world at that age.

12.) 13 Jul 2020 01:51:10
Nice walk back. Professionally done.

13.) 13 Jul 2020 02:35:48
This post makes no sense at all imo
You claim gini is the weak link so you obviously didn’t watch the Barcelona games then
Also you do know we have ever only one game Gomez has started
It is like you want us to us 11 world class players which doesn’t always make for a world class team.

14.) 13 Jul 2020 02:53:37
I'm particularly looking forward to see Harvey Elliott get little more game time personally. but hell have school though.

15.) 13 Jul 2020 02:53:45
Sorry he will*.

16.) 13 Jul 2020 06:41:13
Wijnaldum was great against Barcelona. At Anfield, he is always great against the top clubs or big Champions league nights. For me though, he is inconsistent. He has a tendency to go missing away from home and he doesn't look as motivated against lesser teams.

Gomez is also a great player. I'm not going to deny he is one of the best u23's in the world. However, the best way for players to improve is to fight for their place. Teams target him because he is not as good as Van Dijk. So the target has to be to sign a player as dominant as Virgil, and then hopefully Gomez steps up to win his starting place back. Why do you think Klopp wants Diego Carlos? To replace Van Dijk?

I don't know why some people are acting so defensive. I'm not saying he's a Gini or Gomez are bad players. They are just the only 2 players in our starting XI for whom there is no argument for them being world class. Of course i want 11 world class players. Is this it now? One league title and we just give up on trying to improve?

All i'm saying is we should sign genuine competition for their places. Because Keita and Lovren are not ever going to threaten them. Klopp can't trust them.

Weakest link does not mean i think they are weak. It means they aren't as good as our other 9 starters. The guy who finishes last in the 100m at the Olympics is the slowest. Does that make him slow? It's a relative term.

17.) 13 Jul 2020 09:31:05
HMB, totally get what you are saying. However I don’t think the remaining 9 players are all Truly world class either, barring Van Dijk, Alison, Fabinho and possibly our front three, although that could be debatable. However regardless of people’s’ opinions, they are all very good players who play cohesively as a team, and that’s what makes us one of the best teams in the world, playing as a cohesive team.

18.) 13 Jul 2020 11:46:19
Maybe not Poppa but you could make a strong case for them all. I completely take the point that a cohesive team is crucial.

I don't even think its crucial we improve on Gini and Gomez. I'm just pointing out that if you looked at our first team and considered where we can realistically strengthen, they are the 2 players for me.

19.) 13 Jul 2020 15:28:11
Player everyone rates apart from ed001 shocker.

Hi all, is the West Ham game on Tv at all?

Doogis

1.) 25 Jan 2020 03:38:25
I don't think so, I had a quick check 2 days ago and no sign of it. I presume as it's a rearranged fixture it's likely that it wouldn't have been down as one of the tv broadcasters selected dates. Same night as the carabao cup 2nd leg semi between city and United on sky sports while bt sport have live SPL and serie A games scheduled.

Also we then play Southampton next Saturday 3pm also not televised so it's time to dust off the old radio.

2.) 25 Jan 2020 05:30:04
Stream it on hesgoal. com doogis.

3.) 25 Jan 2020 07:59:24
I like listening the commentary on the radio, so much better than listening to some of the dross on sky or BT.

Alan Green on Radio 5 Live is my favourite commentator.

4.) 25 Jan 2020 12:08:16
It's on NBC, usually decent enough - get the Mobdro app and you can watch it off that. Wow sports app still works for the phone so it'll show it too.

5.) 25 Jan 2020 14:50:10
Liverpool website says it’s now going to be shown on BBC.

Should definitely have scored, but cracking run and potentially a cracking player. I just have a niggle the top, top level prospects would be composed enough to bury that. Love that he’s getting games though and reckon we’ll have a quality player there.
