Klopp needs to grow a set of bollocks and put forward an ultimatum that if he don’t get money for a midfielder then I have to leave.

{Ed025's Note - that’s called..”cutting your nose off to spite your face “ mate..

Klopp is on 300k a week and supported enough. I don't have any sympathy for his situation.
It wasn't a midfielder thay cost us points thus far. It was mistakes by our "top players".

Just picture that moment in real time in your head for a second, Klopp sat across from Henry issuing an ultimatum, not a good ending is it!

@KopEnd1 The transfer team at Liverpool have done an amazing job over the last 5 plus years. Targets carefully identified and plumped for when ducks can be aligned. Panic buying is not healthy for the club finances or for the immediate form of the squad. Most players need bedding in, you and other fans would probably get on their backs if they had one poor game post arrival.

That would be a funny conversation. If I was in John Henry’s shoes and Klopp came at me like that, I would show him a picture of the midfielders Klopp spent money on who are currently sitting in rehab season after season lol.

I thought some yesterday’s posts were bad…
Ridiculous.

If Klopp left we'd have our pick of the best midfielders that Henry still wouldn't sign though.

He signed a new deal a few months ago. One would assume the negotiation process included some discussion of future budgets and transfer policy, at least on a broad level.

If Jurgen wasn't happy with what FSG's ambition at that point, he shouldn't have signed the deal.

Klopp wouldn’t be that stupid. If Klopp walked he’d struggle to find another job whilst we would replace him easily enough ?. (That’s a joke by the way, before anyone gets upset)

It’s never going to happen and if Klopp did walk for arguments sake then FSG would be up the creek without a paddle.

Klopps the main man at this club and the longer he stays the longer we will remain successful.

I think Klopp was better off not explaining his point of view to be honest. It's only created more fume out there.

Clearly we have changed our strategy to only add first teamers and promising youth for development - nothing in between. First teamers of appropriate quality cost north of £50m - something we do not do lightly and plan for well in advance.

Whether this is a good idea will be judged over the course of the season.

Personally I'd like to see some flexibility to bring in some legs, even if they are not a guaranteed starter. It's an attribute that is missing from our options. But hey ho.

Just a general question to see peoples thoughts.

If as we are led to believe Bellingham is coming next season then that’s 100 mill plus outlay (which is roughly 3 and a half seasons net spend for FSG on past dealings) .

If they committed to that on 1 player then I don’t really see who in the squad we sell that comes close to bringing that spend down as we’ve done in the past?

At this point Naby, Bobby, Ox and Milner could all leave on frees unless new contracts agreed.

Only players I could see at risk are Phillips and Jones who are both homegrown and fan favourites.

Bellingham is currently valued at 100 milll but what if he has an amazing season this year and rips the CL up. Surely that fee goes up.

We could see 4 players leave with zero income and 100 mill plus outcome on 1 player. It just doesn’t sound very FSG to me.

Interested to hear others opinions.

Agreed pelican. Let's see what happens next summer concerning Bellingham. We don't make top 4 he ain't going to come here. verbal agreement or not.
Have feeling we are going to regret this summer just like we did the summer before last.
Let's just hope for 3 points tonight, we are going to be tested for sure.

This getting embarrassing, I want us to sign another midfielder as much as the next person but I'm not going to throw a tantrum if it doesn't happen. Asking Klopp to demand the owners buy a new midfielder or he'll quit is just pathetic.

There is a really good reason that Klopp wouldn’t, and shouldn’t make that kind of ultimatum, it lacks professionalism and it’s disrespectful to the squad, his coaching team and us as supporters, he isn’t that kind of man to throw the towel in like that. If we don’t get one and we hit a rocky patch then I’d expect us to do something in the transfer window. It’s pretty plain to see that we’re short of quality and durability in midfield but we’re not going to fix that now in two days. Let’s get Newcastle out the way with a big win and see what the next 48 hours bring. Hopefully not Sander Berge or Tielemans with any luck.

If Klopp really wants a player like Bellingham maybe FSG will back him to sign the player.
I'd much rather us sign the player Klopp wants than the ones touted by impatient fans on a forum.

On balance there are reasons why it may or may not happen.

In the cons section, We’re up against teams with significantly higher budgets and more cash, if a bidding war happens then we’ll likely get bullied out straight away, as realistically there’s no way we can keep up if the oil teams and Madrid if they decide to outbid each other. If Newcastle get into Europe they’ll throw their hat into the ring too and they’ll want to make a statement signing.

If he has a good season his value may soar even further out of reach, journalists with connections to Dortmund were saying they wanted a double what they got for Sancho, so Christ knows what they’ll want in a years time as there’s no clause in his contract so his price could go out of reach.

In the positives, we could go to the same terms as Sancho went to United for (apparently 5 equal annual instalments over 5 years), but offer a larger up front payment. That does though leave the wage issue as he’s not going to want to come in for less than his former Dortmund teammates are getting at City and United.

The only other thing is, given our issues across midfield and needing to replace at least 3 players (Milner, Ox, Keita), is putting all our eggs in one Bellingham shaped basket the most sensible option when we’re really paying for potential and not a finished or close to finished article?

If we’re up against clubs with significantly bigger budgets than us (not disputing that btw) , I’m how come Bellingham hasn’t been bought this window……?

{Ed002's Note - He is not for sale this smeer. Liverpool have no agreement with Dortmund.}
