And that's a new manager / no manager bounce for Chelsea on Wedneday.

Here's one for discussion or opinions even how would you stamp out the issue of players surrounding the referee's obviously trying trying to influence a decision me personally referee's should grow a set and yellow card almost of those that surround him then end of issue but let's have opinions please lads.

Rabh I'm sure that rule was brought in at some point and the only people allowed to go up to the refs are captains. It never seemed to stop though and you're right the refs need to assert authority and card players for hassling them. Sorry to sound like a bore but rugby players and boxers who I would be far more intimidated by if I was a ref seem to have a lot more respect for the refs in their sports.

Am assuming Chelsea have reacted now to get Nagelsmann (not Rodgers who would be a good fit at Spurs) but am wondering if Ancelotti is Brazil bound will Klopp be Madrid bound? The pressure on him must be immense and teaming up with Bellingham in Madrid sunshine must have crossed his mind.

Nagelsmann to Chelsea, poch to spurs, zidane to psg. Klopp isn’t going to leave to go to Madrid, not on a bad note like this anyway. He will stay next season unless he is sacked before then.

Chelsea were never going to keep potter. They’ll be much better without him.

Like it matters, new manager bounce or not we are useless away from home.

Us against Chelsea on Tuesday night will be all about whose players raise to the occasion the most in the battle to see who finishes top 10 this season.

So basically it has 0-0 written all over it.

Yeah I have absolutely no sympathy for referees to be honest.

They get undue protection when they cock up every single weekend, and are completely unaccountable.

However, as far as I know they do have a decent amount of power when it comes to disciplining bad conduct, including foul or abusive language.

Despite this, they are too cowardly and pathetic to ever enforce it, despite having the power to do so. It would only take one to set a precedent, but none of them do.

Very difficult for a new manager to take over a team mid season and try to work out some sort of way to play with nine new players in January as well.

Woolback.

I have a very different opinion to yours.

The clubs and players need to take responsibility for there behaviour on the pitch. If they did, then the refs could actually focus on reffing the game rather that having huge amounts of pressure put on them because players are charging and surrounding them, by conning them, pretending to by fouled or injured, screamed and shouted at etc.

Refs make mistakes just like everybody else. when its a big one or persistent issues, then they usually get demoted or not selected.

Referees are the most babied set of people on the planet. In any other line of work, if you make the same serious mistake twice its a disciplinary. Three or four times and you're getting your P45. Referees don't even have to admit it.

Awk refs makes mistakes, it's going to happen - the major issue is how VAR is then used to back up these blatantly wrong decisions instead of actually sending the ref to the monitor to see what he missed

I agree with a couple of sentiments here. The whole players surrounding the ref is wrong so the ref should dish out a few yellows for this. It is supposed to be the captains allowed to discuss the matter with the refs, just them - book the rest if they don't go away when told

That leads into what should happen then. Players will pick up bans for bookings, hell it could lead to more sendings off, not just if a player is already on a yellow when he hassles the ref, but picking up silly bookings like that could mean a second yellow is issued later in the match - you would then think the Clubs would get involved and better discipline their players, which would hopefully result in more restraint

Lies with the refs to police it better imo, but also VAR to drastically improve and do what it is supposed to do, but a lot quicker. Also, the rules of the game should be applied equally to all clubs and all stadiums - it should not matter if you are Man Utd, City, Liverpool, Everton or Villa nor should it matter if you are playing at Anfield, Old Teafford, Goodison, Villa Park, Stamford Bridge or the Emptihad - a blatant penalty is a blatant penalty, trailing somebody by the neck is a blatant foul, a handball is a handball etc - these need to be given equally, and again, VAR needs to improve both to help with what is missed, but also to help the ref frankly grow a set at some grounds he maybe does not want to give a big decision at.
